  1. We have a Golf Mk7 1.4 TSI which makes the same noise at 0.05-0.06 in the first post at every start up.

  2. Alastair. I have no certain knowledge of those clips, but I don't believe Audi would add to the cost of the car by fitting them unless they were necessary. When every penny of manufacturing cost has to be justified to the bean counters the design engineers must have had a good reason to fit them. I also don't understand how the clips got into the sump. Clearly they were not fitted correctly to the rockers by whoever has had that engine apart in the past, but I don't recall a passage between head and sump large enough for the clips to fall through. Of more concern to me is the fact that the engine has been run without lubrication, a potentially destructive operation. Have you driven the car yet, and if so how does it sound and what is the oil consumption?

  3. Are we referring to the noise at 0:05-0.06 in the original post?

  4. Hello Denis, I have a French A6 and in the boot there is a Sub-Woofer (mounted in the centre of the emergency spare wheel). Looking at the photo I think it is the cable for that. Kind Regards Bob

  5. Hi Al, The wire length is approx 300mm on the plug side (DOOR) and 225mm on the socket side (A PILLAR) but I can make them any length you want up to 1000mm for the door plug. I only use "QUADLOCK" pins and contacts. This ensures the best possible contact between the two halves of the loom. I also recommend replacing both parts as some of the wires carry very low signal voltages. Normally they sell on Ebay for £66 for both parts (male/Female). (I was quoted £330 from Audi dealership, this is why I started to make them myself.) However, if you want both side's of the vehicle I'll do them for £100 and free next day signed for delivery. Please note the wires are not the same colour as the original! So care must be taken when making the connections. If you wish to chat via Email: davidcarterboatman@gmail.com Regards. Dave C.

  6. Hi, yes all working now. The problem was stop start at stand still and I guess the same system puts the car into coast mode when driving. That was when driving is when the warning came up.

  7. Hi, I had the same or similar fault on my A6 40 s line 21 plate. I was driving on a busy dual carriageway with no hard shoulder when the warning came up and the engine just died, no power at all, no throttle, I was just drifting with the vehicle slowing down. I had to put my hazard lights on and stop in the lane. Pretty scary with cars approaching fast from behind. I turned everything off, slightly opened the door and closed it to reset everything and luckily the car started up and I was able to drive off. Potentially that could have been disastrous. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they told me that there had been a sporadic fault with the "can bus", they cleared the fault and asked me to monitor. Although not sure how I do that. They had no idea what had happened or why, just cleared the fault and sent me on my way. I have told them that's not good enough and what happened Could have resulted in a serious accident and that I'm no longer confident with the safety of the vehicle. I'm currently in discussions with them to either exchange or return the vehicle. I'd be interested to know if you know of any other incidents of this fault as Audi don't seem to be that bothered that this fault could have resulted in a serious or fatal accident.
