  1. Hi you have to wait for the light to come on then add ten litres, personally I have found the best one is Yara from Halfords and apparently is the purest available, its in 3.5 litre pouches and its spout system ensures minimal spill unlike a lot of the brands I have used, leaving it until the light is on ensures you have used the existing fill and helps prevent crystals which kills the system. 2. Hi on your year of car deleting the DPF is not that big a deal, first came across Cordierite with one of my early cabs MK4 Mondeo, bought an aftermarket DPF for £600, it was a bit of a faf getting it adapted to the car but it went in eventually, BUT it then proceeded to regenerate every 40 miles not good, tried everything but no joy, finally contacted Ford who announced they did refurbished units with a years warranty £360 so I bought one, another 100k and two years no problems, enquired with a Ford tech from Dunton and he explained the difference between OE and aftermarket, on the aftermarket units the soot/ash accumulation chambers are smaller allied to the cordierite core it tells the ECU its blocked or like mine does about 20 regens a night. 3. Great Stuart. I’d still ditch the Crossland filter, and fit a proper one for the sake of <£10 note. You can then rest comfortably that the filtration is what it should be. Kind regards, Gareth.

  4. Hi Gareth, Thanks for the filter onfo, worth remembering. However, it's fixed; my mistake. I fitted the large O-ring into the recess just under the cap above the threads, but there is another recess within the threads 10mm below the cap where it should have gone. I should have noted the position when I removed the old one. Just got to clean up the engine now, oil everywhere! Cheers, Stuart Thanks to others for their advice.

  5. It's a fairly easy job if you have the correct spline tool, you can do it without taking suspension off as Audi reduced the size of the knuckle to allow access to the bearing bolts. Can be done in under 2 hours. Gavin.

  6. From experience this is what i recall the system in its wider form allowing the following: - coasting (in gear) engine switched off/ idle RPM when braking coming to a stop or slight decline straight road. - allows for more frequent use of start/stop technology allowing greater battery usage. - allows energy recovery for the use of the system by breaking (for example). - supports electric hybrid turbo technology (spooling turbo by electronic means). the electrical storage system is designed to support auxiliary systems when the engine is off or reducing electrical load capacity for all of the above. You’d like to think it would have a massive effect on your MPG in a positive way but I think it equates to an additional 3mpg-7mpg subject to road conditions and driving style all around. In truth the funny thing about emission control is that it hurts the economy of the vehicle. The science behind it diminishes performance and reliability as well as hampering economic power delivery. if you were to take this engine and remove/modify all the ‘emission’ related components you’d actually likely get up to 30% noticeable gains in fuel economy and performance. Adblue is a huge contributing factor impacting poor fuel efficiency. They say Adblue doesn’t affect fuel efficiency, but in order to have the system it requires the exhaust to be hotter. How do you think they do that? By using more fuel! This system is literally a ‘fix’ to hide real fuel consumption numbers which would harm ratings and sales…

  7. Hi Luke1981, I know this has probably been fixed by now but... I have had the same issue with my A6 C7. It all started after I drove through a puddle on a rainy day. Initially the error message said something along the lines of "steering system fault: you can continue driving" but the following day after driving a couple of miles down the road the light on the dashboard when from yellow to red and the message changed to something like "Do Not Drive the car". I then took it to the mechanics and they found an electrical issue on a module on the steering rack. the whole steering rack had to be replaced as the faulty module is not sold separately.
