  2. Hi the sealed bit is a load of garbage, they only ever did a sealed gearbox 2009-2011 with catastrophic results, Ford did a sealed box on the early MK4 Mondeo it was designated power shift and was a huge failure, when I asked the dealer when I first got my car at 38k the exact term was gearbox is FILLED FOR LIFE, then emailed Audi in Germany who said, No change the oil every 50k or five years, if you think about it all that high grade sintered steel flying about in a bath of oil with the occasional bit flying off which is suspended in the oil until it by force of gravity hits the bottom of the casing, now imagine the same scenario with burnt worn oil, believe me it wont end well, I change my oil every year and as you said add SLIK50 you can't go wrong with that and a couple of bottles of Fuchs Titan, new box [manual] is just over five grand +fitting, DONT GO THERE. Steve.

  3. Indeed, wise words Gareth. The detailer I am going to is highly recommended for his quality of work in our area so if I get a payout which will cover his costs to put it right, I will be happy. Then I can just pay him to carry out the work to fully remediate the issue

  4. I agree, I had an A5 2.7tdi auto (2009). It had done 160K at the time I gave it to my son. I bought it at 98K. I don't believe the oil in the gearbox has ever been changed and it is absolutely fine thus far. So, I am often a believer that if it isn't broken don't fix it. Obviously not always the case on things like engine oil. I also understand it is quite a big job and not straightforward.

  5. Gearbox oil change is an interesting topic. Audi and the specialist I take the cars to say for my A5 B9 manual, it's a sealed box and doesn't need changing. The specialist however did say if I'm having issues, and if not, leave it alone. My old A4 B8 had a slight issue at 140k so the oil was changed and slik50 (I think it's called) added and it's now on 265k with the new owner and trouble free.

  6. Have you sat on the key fob? The remote boot release may have been opened.

  7. Hi the specialist is probably right its the fuel especially if you have used E10 or supermarket fuel, a coil pack would definitely throw a code. Steve.
