  2. HI All, About to become the owner of a 2021 A6 Avant. Rather excited to say the least. Collect it next tuesday, which seems like years away right now. I come from the Skoda fold having been the owner of a few Superbs, and I just changed from a Superb estate to this A6 Avant. Tried both this and a Superb of the same year and the decision was quite easy. The allure of the bigger engine and being quite a bit more plush inside was what sold me. Hoping for good things now. Already a VCDS owner as I do a lot of maintenance myself, among restoring older cars. Just get the dealer to do enough to stamp the book basically. In between I do all the rest in my workshop, including interim oil changes, brakes etc. It's how I took one of my Superbs to over 400k miles without too much drama. Looking forward to all the information I can pick up here, and hopefully see some of you at the various pub meets. Best. Dom.

  3. Hi Gareth. Reading it again it looks as if the extended warranty only applies to the US, I assume someone has taken Audi to court over the failure. You would have thought if it was good for the US it should be honored for all Audi A4. I will continue to inquire and give you feedback later. Regards Peter

  5. Hello Phill, Welcome and thanks for joining. Sorry to hear of your ongoing issue, and to me, I think there is just one simple question to ask, and be answered here:- Did you buy this car from an Audi dealer, or Audi U.K./Audi’s warranty provider? The answer of course is an Audi dealer, so your contract is with them, and they have to repair the vehicle irrespective of whether they can reclaim their outlay or not. If they can’t - tough - unless they can prove that you ‘damaged’ it. Not being critical, but I think you’ve left this debate go on too long, and perhaps understandably dealt with a Sales Manager. If this were mine, once any element of ‘we ain’t going to fix it’ came in, I would have been addressing the resolution directly to the dealer principal, and not a Sales Manager. A carefully worded assertive and time limited e-mail to the dealer principal would be my urgent way forward. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Phill. Kind regards, Gareth.

  8. "Dealers sent off the warranty claim and recieved reply that fault U112200 was on the car prior to sale so no warranty." Did they make you aware of this or any other faults at the time of sale? Were there any other faults that they know of that haven't been shared with you? The reply they gave you is indefensible - if you had known of the fault would you have still bought the car, or asked that it be fixed prior to delivery? A polite letter or email to the General Manager pointing the above points out should get your problem solved. If it doesn't then I'd agree with trying to reject it on the grounds that the warranty isn't fit for purpose (but don't threaten this in your initial letter. Don't forget - it's a positive outcome you're after - not points scoring).

  9. That's usually a sign of a bad earth at one of the light fittings. Remove all the bulbs and clean their contacts. Do the same for the contacts within the fittings. Ensure any earth leads from the fittings are unbroken and securely attached to the chassis.

  11. Forgot to add, I havent collected the car yet, I should be collecting it some time next week all being well! This is a photo from the Advert i seen before going looking at it and it just looks even better in the metal. Cannot wait to get this home and make a few subtle alterations to make it feel like my own.

  12. Had trouble with a slow oil leak for weeks on my 8p 2012 1.6 TDI Audi A3. My local garage couldn’t find this leak, as when ran on the ramp for over 6hrs there was not a drop, even running it at 2000rpm for 2 of those hours. The engine still ran perfectly. Last week, suddenly my engine had no oil pressure, and bearly ran, therefore got it back into the garage, and when they took the sump off they found a crank main bearing cap in the sump, along with the bearing, which had been rubbing against the oil pump belt, causing fibers to come off it and block up the oil pump pick up, resulting in no oil pressure. the garage is absolutely confused as to how a crank main bearing end cap found its way into the sump as they have never ever seen that before. One of the Bolts that held the bearing cap was also found in the sump sheared. now looking at a an engine change for the car, but wondering if anyone has any idea how this could even happen?
