  1. Whether you use the door or not, the wiring in the passenger door is the same age as that in the driver's door, and prone to the same embrittlement as a result of age. As a zero cost check I suggest it is worth having a look.

  2. Always loved them, the rs4 really got me hooked when i was a kid. I'm yet to own one but you never know. Currently in an A3 S-Line saloon and love it. The build quality, design and the flat bottomed steering wheel are the 3 main things i love about them.

  3. Hi Gareth. I had a look on eBay , and I wouldn't say them mad crazy expensive... One I had a look, was something 40 GBP delivered... Wouldn't considering use second hand door lock, as it probably won't last long... Sometimes could be lucky... But by my experience... Not .. had Passat before, couple times changed door locks with used ones, didn't las more than couple months... (Typical problem with microswitches).. tried fix myself... But never worked out right... After bought brand new locks, problems were solved.. Car just passed test (MOT), just didn't lock the car , left it unlocked , tester didn't notice that lock won't unlock , but still I'd love to get it fixed, as some times very inconvenient get open door from inside , driver side, once door is opened, if not locked, door lock operates normal .

  7. Hello Russell, Sounds a classic case of a failing battery, and yes, you could trickle charge it with a bought- in charger, but the battery is going to let you down sooner than later. Do you know how old the battery is? If it were mine, I would be investing in a new good quality battery before the weather gets much colder. I’ve recently bought Exide batteries at very competitive prices from Tayna Batteries. Just go on EBay and find their listings, send them a message with your reg. no. and they will confirm suitability. You could go to their website and do it that way, but they are likely to quote you for their (generally more expensive) Enduroline. They are usually postage free on EBay, and sometimes code SAVES8 gets you an extra 8% off. Highly likely the new battery will need coding to the car. I never buy batteries on price, and always go for brands with 4 or 5 year warranties, since these vehicles are highly dependent on efficient batteries. Perhaps you could let us know what you think Russell, and how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
