  1. Hi all need some advice please. I have put 2 new uniroyal rainsport tyres on the rear. 225/45/18 the car now feels very unbalanced and i have the ESC light coming on going round corners at speed. I do have 2 new ones left i could put on the front to see if it cures the car. Is it because the tyre depth is different so it senses this ? Thankyou

  2. Hi get the part number off of the unit then go on ebay probably loads of them as they are probably fitted to lots of models in that year or alternatively find a reconditions in your area and get your one refurbed. Steve.

  3. Thanks Allan, ’…given that I don’t hang about..’ , ‘… I tend to get on…’ , ‘ ….driving at 60mpg ( the legal limit) on a damp road …. ‘ some idiot pops out of a side road… ‘ -all of this points me conclude that you drive ‘enthusiastically’, and I don’t think anyone would recommend budget tyre as being suitable for you. Kind regards, Gareth.

  4. Thanks Roger, but irrespective of whether it’s getting fuel or not, it hasn’t got a spark at the plugs. Pete- do you have a wiring diagram for the car? Guess this car should come the period when Haynes manuals were published. You have obviously spent money so far without success. To avoid further unnecessary expense, I would now consider employing the services of a trusted local auto electrician. Perhaps you can keep us updated. Kind regards, Gareth.

  5. Apologies for being curt; I was rather pressed for time. It was persistence that was key. I ascertained the name of the dealer from whom the owner before this one bought the car. Worked out that they ‘normally’ carry out a pre-delivery inspection and service and give the car a fresh MOT. Assumed the MOT and service were carried out at the same garage. Found the name of the MOT centre by asking the vendor to enter his V5C reference no. on the GOV site. Called them only to be told that their digital records only stretch back 3 years, but that they could trawl back through the manual records which extend back further. To my surprise the nice lady at the garage called me later in the day saying that she had found it and did in fact have a digital copy which she duly emailed across to me. Hoorah! HTH.
