  1. Hello all, Just to say that i have now purchased a car; and to say thanks to those who commented. I got an A4 B7 Avant 2.0tdi as i wanted. It's one of the last ones i suspect, as it wasn't registered until March 2009 (well into the B8 model). It's not perfect, but is very good condition with fsh etc I am after something for it straight away (haha), and will start a new thread/post in this section for that. When i posted my advert wanting a car, i also placed it in the generic `For Sale` section simultaneously, yet it was removed from there and i was advised that it couldn't be in there and in here too. Thank you all. Kind Regards, Kev.

  2. That's funny, it could be a sign! Yes, I'm a far way from Essex. My profile says Los Angeles so no clue how Essex pops up. Yes, I think this could be a clear sign to steer away. Maybe record the Vin and check back in 2-3 years to check the carfax and see if this was a bullet dodged!

  3. Sorry for the long post but I am very pleased to get a resolution. My P0011 too far advanced started after renewing cam belt cam chain water pump etc. Everything mechanical was changed, cam adjuster, solenoid valve and cam position sensor but still the same fault. Because I was fed up with looking at the EM light I disconnected the solenoid. All that did was throw up more errors about missing the solenoid. I then connected my spare solenoid and tie wrapped it in the bonnet. The fault was still there although there was no possibility of advancing the cam. Therefore the ECU thinks the cam is permanently too far advanced. The technician had already checked twice and the timing is right. I then thought as the old chain and tensioner were rattling the cam adjuster couldn’t have been working right, if at all. So now it is working the ECU is confused. I bit my tongue, held my breath and crossed everything and pulled the ECU fuse and went for a cup of tea. After replacing the fuse everything is working perfectly. So, a simple cold restart solved everything.

Search Community T New Member Introductions Help with S4 B8 manual Sports diff oil change Tags 2009 audi s4 avant b8 manual sports differential Jump to LatestUnfollow 43 views0 replies T Taqi80 1 post · Joined 2024 #1 · 4h ago Hi Everyone! I hope someone can help - newbie here but happy to take some digs 😉 I have a 2009 S4 B8 Avant 6 speed Manual. I'm looking to change the sports diff oil. Popped under the car couple of days ago and had a look around - looks fairly straightforward 4 bolts in all. Got in touch with TPS - TPS said the quantity for both sides is (0.9l). Ordered oils - Axle oil 1L and transfer oil 2 x 850ml (Why don't Audi just make a 1L bottle!?) Bought a gear oil pump too (Amazon). The question I have is; which oil goes on which side?? One side is embossed with an Audi Logo the other with an ATF logo. I'm guessing the Axle oil is Audi side and the transfer oil is ATF side? I've attached images to help. Any advice / pointers is greatly appreciated. Thank you all! T 👍🏽

  5. Hi folks just introducing myself. I've had my S5 for almost 3 years, it's a 2014 Audi S5 cab with 65k miles, FSH all, bar the last, at Audi. I had an Audi 80 Sport back in the 80s which I loved, I then moved to SAAB, Alfa the Porsche before coming back to Audi. My last car was Porsche Boxster, which I loved but wanted a couple of extra seats so after a lot of research bought the S5. Fantastic car and I'd say as fast if not a bit quicker than the Boxster, the S5 is a keeper.

  6. Hello Paul, Welcome, thanks for joining, and sorry to read of your issue. To attempt to answer/ explain some the points you have raised. Is a clutch assembly classed as a (fair) wear and tear item? Yes. Is it unreasonable that a (10 year old) 56K car should suffer clutch wear? - I would say debatable, since this car has averaged only 5.6K/a, suggesting that it has been used on short journeys where the clutch is likely to have been used far more than say an example which has covered twice that mileage on much longer runs - hence it will have worn more despite its low mileage. I’m in the same camp as Cliff, and unfortunately I feel you might have quite a legal task on your hands to make a claim for this, but…… ‘Took it in for a service…’ Where Paul? Main dealer, independent, local garage? Have you sort a second opinion - say at an independent Audi specialist? If not, that would be my first port of call. Are you hearing, or have you heard any noise from this flywheel? Perhaps you could come back to us Paul. Kind regards, Gareth.

  7. I would expect the DMF to last rather longer than that in careful hands; however if the previous owner enjoyed traffic light grand prix then it is not surprising the DMF springs have died. I think you would be lucky to successfully claim wear and tear. You might have a claim against the vendor if he was a dealer, but then you would know about that aspect already having taken legal advice.

  8. Hello I am hoping Which’s Car Editorial team are looking into this now. I don’t know if it will lead to anything but if they do take it further and ask for examples can I assume that some of you are happy to consider providing further details (for example Steph1234, Mark2, Audi Death Trap, CSMT, Worried of Yorkshire, SteveHBerkshire, 88RS6 etc?). If Which start asking Audi UK well informed questions on this issue, the way in which it can unfold and the danger it can represent it may add some additional pressure to Audi to do something more proactive and safety orientated (like a proper warning with clear guidance when 12v charging stops). Worth a push. As an aside 88-RS6, as far as I’m aware the 7yr warranty on the MHEV alternator component on your RS6 should be covered - would keep pushing (Mark2 and others here have managed to with effort, on their RS6s)

  9. Hi all, just looking for some opinions on here. Bought an A5 2014 3ltr Quattro with 56k 4 months ago. Took it in for service and they've diagnosed a fault with the DMF, long story short looking at a bill of around £4k apparently for the DMF, Clutch, ancillary and labour. Taken legal advice on this so know where I stand there, but does anyone know if this is a fair wear and tear item? Seems rather low mileage for a DMF to go, unless it's been abused? But I don't know Audi too well. Wanted an Audi for years, should have stopped with Range Rovers lol Thanks all.
