  1. Hi yes its the sensor, but changing the reservoir would be good especially if your original has the deadly silica bag fitted in to it which will eventually burst and cause you problems you can identify this by looking at the reservoir and if its got a little square printed on it next to the antifreeze grade it is fitted. 2. Just seen the new posts. I concur with all of above. Can happen on consecutive ignition starts or can be 4 or 5 starts before it happens. I also could not get News, Weather etc to work so called Audi Connect, (the 0800 no on their website). After going through some diagnostics similar to mentioned on an earlier post (LTE signal strength for one) they have concluded there is Connectivity issues. Had to take photo's of the display and send them to Audi Connect. I now believe the MMI unit as a whole is faulty. Radio favourites is just the symptom we all noticed first. Audi Quality Assurance & Testing Departments have a lot to answer for!! Keep complaining to your dealerships and as we all have brand new cars I would suggest that once the issue is fixed to satisfaction we all claim compensation from our dealerships. I know I will be. Taking delivery of a new car should be an exciting time and having this problem has taken the shine off it!!

  3. I've very recently bought one of these of the same year. I can answer some but probably not all of your questions to some degree. 1. 2017 if it is the FL model is belt driven. Mine has done 66k. I phoned my local Audi dealership and they said it won't need to be done. They changed the service interval from a set mileage and 5 years (whatever comes first) to just a mileage of, and don't quote me on this as it's from memory, around 122k miles. Decision whether to change according to their previous advice (lower mileage or 5 years whatever comes first) is up to your own discretion. Belts have improved no end nowadays. Personally, I'll leave mine until about 100k miles and change then. 2. Thankfully no problems with mine. Just the usual service items needing doing like filters and plugs. 3. I'd look for as much Audi or independent specialist service history as possible. Ask the seller for a print out of the Audi service history or receipts from independents or previous owners. I'd also take your time choosing one. There's plenty out there. 4. I like to do preventative maintenance myself. The pollen and air filter are very easy to do. Finished those. I expect the fuel filter is an unscrew old and fit new easy job too. Spark plugs are a different issue. It's tight under the engine bay despite there being bigger engine variants of the same body type. Basically, I am changing the core renewables anyway just to reset the clock on them and then will replace in the future according to my fitment of them now. 5. Fuel economy looks good thus far. I am not one for noting mpg figures but it appears very economical to me over the few hundred miles I've driven it thus far. 6. I have both DAB and USB. Mine is a S-line model but has very few options, so judging by this only, on this trim I think it would be standard. Unsure about the SE and Sport trims though. Can't really be much help other than that, I'm afraid. Someone more knowledgeable than me that has had their car longer may be able to add advice or give better. Best of luck with the car search if you haven't found one already!

  4. To clarify: there are two clutches in a DSG gearbox. One for 1/3/5/7 gears, and another for 2/4/6 and reverse. Two clutches allow for rapid gearchanges by preselecting the next gear before the current gear is released. It's a complex system as you may imagine. I am surprised the clutch slip was not noticed at the service. Did you mention the problem when you took the car in? I suggest you get the gearbox tested, preferably by a specialist gearbox company rather than Audi, as it is possible that it will need to be rebuilt or replaced. If so, the specialist will only charge a small fortune whereas Audi will charge a large one. A secondhand gearbox is something I would be very wary of. One that fits your car will be a similar age and likely have only a short life before it developes similar problems.

  6. Hi Steve. That’s interesting, good to know. I wonder if there is a laminated version of the privacy glass also for use on that market?

  7. Hi for what its worth the laminated glass is fitted for the American market as some states demand this before they will approve the vehicle for sale in that state, my guess is that the production line ran out of glass for that door so they swiped a window from another line to get things moving, I have no doubt there are more like yours floating about but the owners will never know unless the glass needs replacing, Steve.

  8. As Greg and Graeme say, need to put pressure on. I did notice comments on other forums detailing similar type problems on older cars. I certainly haven't had these problems on previous A3's and I am a big radio listener when driving. From my point of view, is that I don't think my dealership took me seriously, hoping I would 'go away'. I basically lost a week with their lack of interest. A customer complaint letter went off last night so I recommend you do the same if your dealership mess you around. They badger us for a good review and 5 stars in the sales survey so when things fail they must be told and bluntly so. I will post on and further developments

  9. Hi Greg, Hopefully you can see my reply of a few minutes ago. As David (Snowman) said, hopefully if we all go back to our dealerships and put the pressure on, something will get done by Audi. Graeme

  10. Thank you David. That's very helpful to know. My dealer replicated the issue and sent a technical service message to Audi. Audi immediately have come back and said to delay me bringing it in to the workshop as they don't yet have a fix. But hopefully they are indeed working on it, although if you trawl through the web you'll find this issue seems to have been around for quite aa while. Like you, I'm going to keep the pressure on. If you do get it fixed please let me know! Graeme

  11. Took delivery of a new A3 SLine 35 TFSI in mid June and within 5 days I was reporting exactly the same problem. After poor technical service from my dealership the general sales manager became involved. Car was booked in for a couple of days. Been told it is a known problem and Audi Germany are supposedly working on a fix. I have been given a timescale of 1 month - we'll see!!! I would suggest anyone experiencing the same problem contacts their dealership and tell them you want it sorting. The more complaints Audi get then we might get a resolution quicker

  12. Hi, I have just come across your post. I have a brand new A3 S-line black edition. I have the same problem, it happens at least once per day for me. No-one seems to have a definitive answer.
