  1. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones.

  3. Thanks Gareth. I'd imagine so. Hopefully anyway. I bought a replacement anyway. Will report back to update for any one else that might be wondering

  5. Hi if you attach another battery to the jump posts under the bonnet that will preserve the entertainment settings while you change the battery, you will need to buy a cheap pair of rubber gloves to wrap round the terminals once they have been taken off of the original battery to stop them shorting out. new battery must be coded to the car, otherwise as Gareth said it will kill the new battery in record time, Lion batteries are absolute garbage, I am not as polite as Gareth. Steve.

  6. Um! Bless you, and anyone else who puts their trust in Lion batteries. As I’ve said on here before, if I were to compile a list of batteries I wouldn’t own - even if given to me- Lion would be top of that list. As I understand it ECP are now re branding them to Starline - another ECP sole brand. Nothing to do with the reputation of Lion, of course! If this car were mine, I would be sending it back, and buying a sensible brand one. I’ve bought Exide from Tayna at reasonable cost ( no connection and there are other suppliers). Kind regards, Gareth.

  8. Hi Dan, Yes that is exactly the same message as I was told a month ago, as a result of which I returned my Q3 within the 30 day period. I didn't feel I could wait until December for what is only a a "possible" solution. My dealer at least didn't make me go through the exercise of taking it in for a day as Audi had already told them by e-mail there was no current solution.

  11. I completed a dangerous vehicle log with the DVSA and had a very disappointing response. I challenged the outcome and my correspondence was ignored. I contacted the DVSA (VSB) by telephone requesting to speak to the individual who had reviewed my case and was told telephone contact was not possible!

  12. Unfortunately you are right. The longer this goes on and vehicles drop out of warranty then users will just accept a failure as an older vehicle problem, and Audi will have dodged the bullet. What is so annoying is we have a public body who is there at our expense to safeguard the public sitting on their hands just moving the problem off their desk and into a filing cabinet. If I do not get a positive response from mr Corcoran then next step my MP.

  13. Hi Mick, Just to make sure you're aware, I'm the person who bought a Q3 about a month ago and who then rejected it within the 30 day period and got a full refund. That was after my dealer saying they couldn't fix it and Audi telling them/me that there was no point in me taking it into my dealer and that there would be no fix until at least December. I realise that may not be a desirable/practical path for others, I just didn't want the uncertainty and the hassle. I would be pleased for other people if Audi do sort it . I've now bought another make of car. However, everything I've now heard , even from other people in the trade, and also based on your experience, is that this problem has been around for quite while now, without Audi solving it. When Audi dealers say they are unaware of the problem, I have to doubt that very much. And certainly the number of people experiencing this issue is now growing. Your analysis associated with the LTE connectivity certainly strikes a chord with my experience but so is the one which says the problem will only be solved by replacing the MMI unit of the specific car, the actual "brain" unit, and replacing the software. I can only thank my lucky stars that my local dealer behaved so responsibly, as I'm not a technical person and don't have the energy and ability to engage with Audi in a technical debate. And having spent £40k why should any of us have to do that? So I wish others well in getting their own solution.
