  1. My suspicion is the same as your suspicion: that there is a complete or partial blockage in one of the oil galleries. The only solution I know of is to strip the engine and reverse flush each passage with oil or water at a higher pressure than the pump makes. I imagine 6 bar would be enough. In case you are not aware, reverse flushing means forcing the fluid in the opposite direction to the normal oil flow.

  2. I have no personal experience of doing the job, but I know it is done during engine manufacture to remove swarf and grinding dust. Presumably it also done by engine reconditioners so perhaps that avenue is worth investigating.

  4. Just sent an email to BBC Watchdog (part of The One Show these days). Have included a link to this forum. I don't know their criteria for selecting topics but thought it was worth a shot. Email is watchdog@bbc.co.uk If others did the same it might add credence to our case and make them sit up and take note.

  5. I have no suggestions for you Richard, though I may be able to offer a glimmer of hope. It was recently reported that a similar problem with Tesla cameras was resolved by a software update. I doubt that Audi are as keen to update their software as Tesla, but it might be worth invesigating.

  6. Hello Richard, nice to hear from you again. I could be wrong, and hopefully others will be along and give you to correct story, but I believe Autoglass and other windscreen fitting companies fit aftermarket windscreens, and not the far more expensive ‘main dealer’ ones. Having said that, I would think there are few main dealers who would fit windscreens as opposed to using specialists - such as Autoglass - so there you go, you complete the full circle! The capability of these windscreens correctly reacting to automatic lights, cameras etc.?? What I did hear about them was not to be too surprised if they show stone chips at a rate of knots - ‘softer’ than originals-? Kind regards, Gareth.

  7. Hi Gareth I bought it from my mechanic. He deals in used cars also. I've been using his garage for all my maintenance for 20 years+ and he's always steered me right with all my previous cars, so I trust him implicitly. I'll take a look through the online service history and see what details I can find and take it from there. Thanks for all your help and advice. Take care Caoimhín

  8. Hi Keith I have always been a bit cautious of wheel spacers. I think they put more loading on the axle bearings which they were not designed for. Also as a modification you will also have to inform your insurance company. BTW, welcome to the club. Tony

  9. I would suggest that you look carefully at the internal plastic surround that the sunroof fits into. My roof on my SQ5 had cracks in it and it would creak as it was not retained tightly. I put it into an Audi main dealer and they charged around £220 for a “sunroof service” using special high priced grey lubricant. It was messy and made no difference. I was then told that it may require the whole sunroof plus internal guides etc plus the roof lining being taken out to check the whole mechanism. The cost would have been over £1k. I decided to use strong single sided foam tape that I placed around the internal edge of the hole in the roof, that the glass roof fitted into. It solved the problem by removing much of the creaking noise. Unfortunately the car was involved in a write off and I bought a 2020 SQ5 Vorsprung about 4 months ago which also has a two part glass sunroof. It has been absolutely fine. Good luck with the black single sided adhesive tape!

  10. Hi..... I have a 2016 SQ5 & The creaking is driving me insane!! I'm having it serviced at the end of the month & I was planning on having the panoramic roof "cleaned" to try and stop it!! So glad I saw this first!! Have there been any further updates on how to solve this please? Jim

  11. My Audi dealer thinks the wheel was refurbished prior to my ownership. They have no record of it been done by them. A local alloy wheel specialist has advised the cracking is probably a result of poor preparation prior to the paint/ laquer application. I'll have get the wheel refurbished properly.
