Just thought I would share my most recent upgrade to my 2012 B8.5 A5 Coupe. managed to find an RS5 grey boot lid with integrated spoiler form a breakers yard. Got the boot lid, liner and spoiler module for £280 Frustratingly they had chopped the wires near the module so bought the connector from eBay. Along with the centre console spoiler switch and finally the electrical plug for that switch. installing the boot lid was quite simple requiring very little adjustment. wired and spliced in where necessary after getting two quotes at nearly £1K to paint the boot lid I decided to do it myself with rattle cans. I sanded it down.. well keyed up the surface - primed it, painted and lacquered it. Followed by plenty of sanding and polishing. Coded the spoiler to the car with an OBDEleven - what an awesome tool that is!! Gotta say.. I really like the end result. Comes up and down automatically at the relevant speeds too.2 points

Hi everyone, just checking in as a new owner of a 2008 5.2 V10 Avant, and yes I must be mad, loving the car, it has a few minor issues I need to sort but will get there, the previous owner basically had a full rebuild done on it a few years ago and I have documents going back years for the parts invoices so hopefully its a good one. Luckily its a second car so not a daily driver, bought it really as I think these might get future classic type thing, how many V10 cars are there left, other than the full rebuild, the IM has had the flaps removed, rare to find one that hasnt, the previous owner did a catch can and total pcv removal other than the check valve, which I am going to put back as the crank needs some scavenge but I will run the catch can before the AOS to try and keep the intake a bit cleaner, air con doesnt work but that is looking like a flexi pipe on the front corner so hopefully not a total wallet killer, since the rebuild it looka like its done 4k miles and its sat at 104k now, anyway enough waffling, thanks in advance for any advice.1 point

Thanks mate @Teddynewson im more happier with how cheap I managed to do it after reading on many forums about how many thousands of pounds it costs for the upgrade 😂1 point

Had this back in mid-2020…very unnerving and we didn’t know the fix back then. I kept driving it and it cost me bad. If I were you, I wouldn’t drive another mile. Get the part yourself and fit it yourself. It’s a doddle. Even if it’s booked in, still get the part. The garage may not have experience and not be able to fit it, or the part may not be available..yada yada yada. If you’re booked to do 1k from Friday, and it isn’t fixed, you’ll 100% need to replace the abs unit by the end of your trip.1 point

Andy - diesel will be much better on mpg, however as you have said that you are looking for mostly town driving then the DPF/EGR becomes a possible (and expensive) issue. You also have to offset the additional cost of diesel v petrol. I got rid of my last diesel because of rising fuel costs and the expectation that before the country is completely ruined by (Delud)Ed and his predecessors, diesel is likely to be first to be "punished" (in taxes and duty) for it's evil emissions 😏1 point

Well spotted Brian. OK, extra cost but spend once and wisely. Many thanks for pointing this out. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

Hi, Simon, looks to me as if your n/s/r lower spring mounting rubber is on it's way out as well. by my observation. if you are going to replace both springs, now would be the time to replace that as well. (only trying to help) Brian.1 point

Thanks Andy - understand, but sometimes life is about just living the dream, rather than just thinking too much about the dream. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

I take it Richard is referring to his petrol fuel consumption. Diesel rather better. This is some large vehicle - costly to buy - and I would have thought there would be few prospective owners who would be too concerned about fuel consumption, when all other costs are taken into consideration. Responses from members on here:- exactly what I was indicating Richard. It’s all very well for owners to post pleas for help, but would I be considered to be too critical to state that not subsequently helping others- such as Andy, in this case - is downright selfish. Having said that, it is what it is, and I’m totally in equipped to change it. Anyway, many thanks Richard for your contribution. Kind regards, Gareth.1 point

Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones.1 point
