  1. While you still have the meter there are two further tests worth doing: /1 Measure the continuity through the element at its terminals with electrical power turned off. No continuity means the element is broken. 2/ Measure the voltage at the element terminals when it is switched on. No voltage confirms no supply. That means you need to work back to the relay, the fuse, and the switch.

  2. Hi as usual the dealers are full of brown stuff as long as you have the type of charger that has the voltage cut off for when the battery is nearly full it will be fine, it should go on/off as the battery voltage rises and falls, they are probably hoping you will leave the car and the battery will die and they can charge you £400 for a new one plus fitting. 3. They had received a Technical Bulletin from Audi and he was following their instruction. In the car he carried out a factory reset via the MMI and also reset everything in the MyAudi App via his laptop whilst the factory reset was ongoing. All I needed was my MyAudi login and 4 digit pin. No scratch cards with codes were used. If your dealership is unsure, then I suggest they contact Callum at Northampton Audi. Procedure took around 45mins. I wasn't aware of Callum installing any software but as our cars have embedded SIM cards could software be installed remotely and this reset procedure is what actually installs the fix? Perhaps some of you better qualified than me are able to answer that?

  4. Thanks Alan, but surely it’s not your responsibility to fix or diagnose. Did the car go to the garage with the warning light illuminated? Kind regards, Gareth.

  9. Hello Paul, Fuses blow to protect the wiring if the is a short circuit in the wiring. They just don’t blow without there being a fault. Can we take it you have a handbook for the car, and you have checked for fuse locations in there? Kind regards, Gareth.

  10. Sorry I’m a bit unfamiliar with the obd code reader as I use vcds so not sure if it just reads codes or allows you to do measurement tests or not. But yeah the glow plug boots go very brittle and crack where the holder meets the plug and disintegrates when you pull them off. I had a problem with a previous Q7 where it through up a flashing glow plug light before dieing and not restarting so we changed the glow plug module (among many other things) but remember there were a few different types. Unfortunately this seems like one of those annoying faults that’s hard to diagnose and fix

  11. Probably one of the led’s in the light cluster has/is failing and upsetting the canbus. Put the hazards on and check to see if one of the led’s is slightly dim or off.

  13. A "passive" issue? That's just the sort of explanation that explains nothing. My guess is that the dealer has no idea what was wrong. However it is good that you took it back as the dealer has presumably recorded the event, so if it happens again soon you have good reason to reject the car.

  14. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones.

  15. Hi All, Just wondering whether someone could point me in the right direction for a replacement front grille for my 2020 B8 RS4. Some complete *@**! must have reversed into me with a tow bar whilst in a car park. Obviously they drive off without leaving a note! I am really hoping to avoid paying Audi thousands of pounds to repair. Thanks
