  1. Going to sound mad but I'd be taking the golf bag and trolley with me to test it for peace of mind!

  2. I got a call back from my mechanic, he pinned it down to either the fuel pressure regulator or/and sensor. I was thinking either MAF, throttle body or pcv. I'll find out more tomorrow when he does further testing

  3. Hi you may well be able to just give the turbo a clean but absent any history of an EGR change that would be my prime suspect. Steve.

  4. Whether the oil is evaporating or burning or leaking is all a bit academic until Brian tells us what his real consumption is. Until that happens I shall add nothing more to the discussion. Well Brian, are you going to answer the question?

  5. To change the knock sensor apparently means removing the water pump and thermostat module, which I only had replaced earlier this year at the cost of £900. To replace the knock sensor will cost about £400. However the garage managed to clean the sensor terminals and since then I have not had any faults.

  6. Thanks for that Could it be that the battery was given a charge prior to collection and it has since depleted. I think it only worked for a day. Richard

  8. Hello Mark, I think you will get a more meaningful answer by asking at a couple of your local car sales sites. These chaps work on margins where they need to know who does nice work at reasonable prices. Kind regards, Gareth.

  9. So Hi, just signed on too this merry go round lol. Picked up a 2007 A6 Allroad Quattro 2.7TDI today. Nice bit of kit. I'll be looking at a few problems which I have and hopefully I will enjoy the car and it's capabilities.

  10. Agreed. Get the battery professionally tested for an indication of its health. A simple multi meter voltage test under little load will not reveal internal faults.

  13. Hi Paul, 2 litres in 3 weeks is a lot of coolant, and what do you mean burnt up? In the cylinders? That would not be possible (in my opinion). My trouble shooting suggestion (with extra care of course), is to top up the coolant when the engine is cold. Get the engine up to temperature (90degrees) with the bonnet open. Because the coolant system is under pressure and at temperature, you should be able to see 'leaks' or 'steam'. You may want a second person to rev the engine as the water pump If you have an undertray, possibly remove that, as that could be catching the coolant? Again, be careful. Thanks, Joe
