  1. Update to the update: Took it in for the service and they said a mistake was made and it does have a belt after all, not a chain. Latest rule is that belts no longer have a time limit, just 140,000 miles regardless of age...I'll get it changed anyway...

  3. Not so. If you have opened any part of the coolant system air will be introduced whether there is flow or not.

  7. Thanks Rit, Motorway miles will be easy on brake pad wear, and unless you are ‘last seconds on the brakes’ then standard pads should do you fine. In case it helps, I’ve been using Brembo of late on family cars to good effect. Same with discs if needed. I buy mine via. EBay at competitive prices from reputable suppliers. You could try Parts in Motion for example. If you want something a bit more ‘performancy’ then you could choose from the EBC product range. Please let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

  8. To reiterate the issues I’m experiencing I have had five incidents since buying my Q2 35 TFSI new a year ago. The first happened when the car rolled without engine power onto a busy roundabout as I took my foot off the brake. Pumping clutch and accelerator had no effect. Scary! Luckily I had enough time to restart engine. My local dealership looked at car again yesterday but could find no error codes when interrogating car’s memory. The message “drive system inoperative- please restart engine“ on central dash in latest incident is a driver information message and not an error code. Discussed info on P.89/90 of the car’s handbook with master technician who said that he thought that “driving style” (see manual P89) meant certain situations could result in “overwhelming” the software system and the engine cutting out. He couldn’t specify which situations. He did say that he has seen other similar issues none of which were pursued. The service manager was keen to understand situation and five incidents in one year was accepted as cause for concern. They will report it to Audi UK and that I could do the same. He thought 10 such reports would generate proper investigation and action by Audi. Other affected owners should do the same. Isolated reports would be unlikely to prompt any action. By the way I think that where there are two or more drivers of a car then there would potentially be two “driving styles”, two reportable incidents and a very strong case.

  9. What ever Audi claim take 10mpg off those figures for a more realistic idea. Adblue is just another fluid to fill into a separate tank every 1000 miles or so. Adblue system problems are documented which Include issues with the level sensors, pumps etc. The hybrid part will benefit you round town. Plus it'll mean it'll be ulez compliant I think. Do t forget to check buyers guides on YouTube.

  10. Hello Gordon, It could be either of your options, but I doubt it. Possibly contaminated clutch plate - engine oil or clutch fluid, or the start of the failure of the clutch slave cylinder etc. but worth getting gearbox and engine mountings checked. You could try:- in a safe place, and with no forward obstructions , put the car in second gear and bring the clutch pedal up slowly until you just reach the bite point. Hold revs at say a steady 1500rpm and depress and gently release the clutch pedal just in and out of the bite point. Keep doing that for a couple to three minutes and see if that results in any (temporary?) imprevement. Kind rergards, Gareth.

  11. The op got a shoe stuck behind the seat which jammed the mechanism at the back of the roof.

  12. How does one get a shoe trapped in the roof? No, don't answer that. It was a rhetorical question.
