  1. Thank you so much. I just recently replaced the pads with Brembo’s front and back and they seem to be working a treat. I ended up getting them from ECP in the end. Thank you very much for the recommendation.

  2. Hi, clutch and brakes are the same as they have always been, but you are right I will have to find an independent Audi dealer. It is not possible to use the car as it is. Many thanks for the advice.

  3. Are you aware that water is formed as condensate from all heat exchangers that cool the air passing over them? Refridgerators, freezers, aircon systems all work the same. Whether you call the water stagnant or something else, the odour comes from the mould that grows in it. Most of the green moulds are harmless but smelly, the black and red moulds are less innocuous. Either way the solution is drain the water from the AC as it was designed. Do that and you won't need bombs, perfumes, or other chemicals.

  4. How do you know it isn't? Is the pedal spongy? Unequal braking as a result of air will try to spin the car but ABS may be masking that. In the absence of answers to my questions all we can do is sit and theorise all day long, but the fact remains that something about your clutch is defective, so either you get under the car and look for yourself, or you put it into a garage for investigation and repair. If it is to be the latter I suggest you find an independent VAG specialist rather than an Audi dealer.

  5. Hello Manu, Firstly, I have removed the Audi dealer name a location you stated, since this is an open forum, and anyone can read it, so you don’t want to leave yourself open to legal challenge. To answer your questions:- The splitting and wear may just be marginal at the moment, so in effect perhaps they don’t need attention now. My recommendation would be get this car independently checked at a trusted local dealer, and follow their advice regarding whether to change at this time. If they do need changing now, then I would renew both lower wishbones as complete units. Have a look at the Parts in Motion (Exeter) website, input your reg. no. and that should come up with some alternative brands for you. My recommendation would be to buy a reputable brand such as Febi or Lemforder, and I certainly would not buy on lowest price. Price to fit? Ask your local garage to quote you for replacing both lower wishbones. Could you please come back to us Manu and let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

  7. I'm glad it turned out so well, and that you found a dealer who seems to be trustworthy.

  8. Lee. You may have been told about the routine services that the vendor has done, but only a full service history from Audi, printed not verbal, will reveal any repairs or other miscellaneous work that has been done to the car. Surely you want to know about that before handing over cash?

  9. Welcome Lee, Thanks for being in touch. It’s time to do some serious homework to best protect your wallet. Car sales purchase or private? Mileage? Have you checked the on-line MOT history, the DVLA vehicle check to see when the last V5 was issued? If recent, it could (just could) have been in short term ownership - not a good sign. Forget about Apps and e-mail, or even phone calls, but wander into a local Audi dealer and ask if it is possible to have copy of the computerised service history. If it has been averaging <10k miles a year, then it should have had annual services. If more than that, it should have been serviced at around every 18k or 18 months - whichever comes first. Are tyres matching on the same axle, and do all tyres have near enough the same remaining tread? Your homework should now lead you to walk away with your hands in your pockets or commit to buy. If you are tempted to commit to buy, I would recommend you get the car inspected at a trusted independent, local to where the car is being sold. If you really want to achieve best results from it, I would treat their service as if it never existed - it’s likely to have been treated to the cheapest oil, and a filter from a certain three letter factors. Buy yourself new oil, air and pollen filters - by Mann or Bosch, and engine oil by Quantum ( VAG’s brand). I guess you have enough to do so far, so please come back to us when you have made a good start. Kind regards, Gareth.

  10. Dion. There will be a drain for condensed water from the aircon casing, which is why there are often water drips on the ground when the car is parked after a drive in humid conditions. There is a good chance your drain line is blocked. I don't where it is or what form it takes, but you will need to find and unblock it.

  11. Have you checked the pollen filter housing? When was the AC system last regasssed? Is there any water in the wheel well? Is there condensation on the inside of the vehicle when you get into it in the morning?
