  1. Thanks for replies guys. So compression test is key I’m guessing. Crank speed sensor is my glimmer of hope in this !Removed! storm. Been losing sleep over this since last week. I’m not the most mechanically minded, paramedic to trade 😂. I will keep the thread updated as I go, let’s hope I have a positive update soon 🤦‍♂️😂. Thanks again 🙏

  2. Hello Seyes, I too would go along with the fact that the coolant temperature should rise to 90 degrees within about 3 miles, and - importantly - stay gauge stable at that temperature through the journey. Who at the dealership told you that gauge variance is normal? An actual technician, or a Service receptionist? Kind regards, Gareth.

  3. I could not open the logs Syed, but I don't really need to if your words accurately reflect the data. Whether it is worthwhile to pursue a claim is debatable. You appear to have a valid claim but the time, effort and expense of doing so is going to be considerable. Only you can decide if you are prepared for that.

  4. The temperature should remain rock steady at 90 once the engine has warmed up, so Audi are lying to you with their claim that it normally varies from 50 to 90 degrees. Take the car to an independant VAG specialist who should be able to diagnose the idling problem as well.

  5. Welcome John, Seems like your ‘back up’ now needs to be re-coded to action all its operations. Kind regards, Gareth.

  6. You say the problem started when the battery was changed, but did you code the new battery to the car. If not, that might explain many of the subsequent problems. I suggest you take the car to an auto electrician for a full diagnosis and hope no permanent damage has been done.

  7. Thanks Marcus, So when you found it was overfilled, that was found by you physically checking the dipstick some 5 months after the car had an oil change service. In effect, it was likely to have been overfilled at that service point, rather than suffering from oil dilution during the last 5 months. Likely - is the operative word, since it’s now not possible to confirm that. For future reference, always check the oil level before start up on the morning after the service was done, to ascertain where the level sits. Re. Replaced oil pressure switch? :- can you please update us on whether that has solved your problem. Kind regards, Gareth.

  8. Huwski, sorry not to get back to you on this! No, we drove the Audi south without aircon that time and I think my daughter got her local garage to fix it the next time it was in for a service. So I'm afraid I never learned any more about the aircon problem or indeed where all the fuses are hiding! Noting that my original query was June 23, I don't think we have had aircon weather here in the Highlands since then!
