  1. Is that wise? It could be as wrecked as your existing joint.

  2. Just a quick update on this, and likely to be the last regarding this particular car. I took the car to a Audi specialist for a second opinion who have confirmed there are two significant faults with the car. The first being the "gateway module", and will need a new part and subsequent coding. The second fault being excessive clutch wear which is causing overheating of the clutch plates and preventing start up when warm. The car will be going back to the garage for a full refund. The used car market is an absolute minefield! Thanks again for your replies.

  3. That's normal for all extended warranies and applies to almost any part that might be claimed for. I really don't understand why these worthless deceitful so-called warranties have not been made illegal. Their only purpose is to increase the salesman's salary without any risk of paying a penny to the customer. Learn the lesson Leo, and never buy one again.

  4. Message from RAMP Good morning, Leo (this is only positive thing I got from them) Heads up - "The pomp wasn't sized the timing belt didn't snap and the car didn't overheat" Open my eyes and start reading this e mail ... Thanks for your email After looking through your claim i can see that it was declined due to the water pumps cause of failure being reported as seized As you have stated, the water pump is a covered component, cause of failure dependent, in this case the garage stated as you have above that it is seized please be advised that seizure is a listed exclusion in the terms and conditions of your plan - section 9 - see below: 9. EXCLUSIONS - The following are excluded from this Agreement • Miscellaneous Items Air conditioning recharging, ECU reflashes/upgrades, water ingress, exhaust system, auxiliary drive belts, brackets, mountings, tappings, supports, fixings and fastening devices, fuel tank and fuel lines, corrosion, seizure, rubber hoses, metal pipes or plastic pipes and unions, core plugs, bushes, decokes, foreign object damage and air bags. This Platinum Plan does not cover any repairs in the following circumstances: • Any parts which have not actually failed to perform their normal function, including but not limited to timing belts that are replaced as part of another job; Unfortunately, as a result of the above your claim was declined Fixed in Audi garage cost £1418 additional added for Audi health check £140 My recommendation is to Avoid RAMP warranty or if you have any warranty check what's actually covered or what is excluded. 5. Got the car back today. After it's last recall. So they had the car for 8 days this time. In 6 weeks I have only clocked 207 miles. I tried to find out what they actually did. It was a battery module check, where they have to monitor the traction battery over a number of days. Mine passed OK. I wonder how long before I get another recall?

  7. Hi the engine mounts are controlled in the same way as Mag ride shocks with electrical current, the mounts DO NOT throw up a code when worn out my engine was shaking before I replaced mine and the ECU will cut the power on the engine when the mounts are excessively worn to stop the engine from twisting so its worth a visual check and wiping around the mounts with clean kitchen towel to check for oil, the only sensor that would cause that sort of problem otherwise would be the MAP as that has two elements one of which runs the lower air path when starting and you need very sophisticated software to read the function, which type of diagnostics are you using if its VCDS depending which version you have you might pick the problem up on the live data. Steve.
