  1. Glad you got some resolution in the way of replaced discs. Hopefully you get to the bottom of the issue soon.

  2. Hi all, I own a 2017 Audi S3 (right-hand drive) and have noticed that the driver-side carpet is getting wet. The water begins accumulating in the top left corner (see attached photo) beneath the plastic footrest. Here’s what I’ve observed so far: I dried out the carpet completely and left the car unused for two weeks while on holiday. During this time, the carpet remained dry, which makes me think it’s not due to rain or an external leak. However, since resuming use of the car, the carpet has started getting wet again, which points to something internal causing the issue. I suspect it might be related to the air conditioning drainage pipe being blocked or malfunctioning. Does anyone have experience diagnosing or fixing a blocked AC drain on the Audi S3? If so, where exactly is the drain located in the 2017 model (RHD), and how can I check or clear it? For additional context: The water feels and smells neutral (not like coolant). The coolant level in my car has stayed consistent. I’ve ruled out rainwater leaks as this issue persists regardless of weather, and the windshield has been replaced twice with no effect. I DO NOT have a sun-roof. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  3. Hi, apologies for the length but want to be detailed. I have a 2014 2.0tdi at 94k and am experiencing white smoke from the exhaust when the car is up to temp (after approx 5 mins of driving) I’m loosing coolant, topping up prob every 7-10 days) No hesitation starting, no distinct loss of power, no engine mgt lights on. No mayo in the oil filler cap and no visible leaks that I can see anyway. I booked it in with my mechanic and he stated there was nothing that points to a head gasket issue and had a chat with a vag friend who said it could be an issue with the inlet manifold, egr and or egr cooler but that would be a process of elimination after the car is dismantled kind of thing. any clues yet?? I went online (like you do) and someone mentioned to check a fuse in the battery fuse compartment. Couldn’t see anything blown on the small removable fuses. On my way back in after a short drive my fan kicked in (this used to happen all the time and after-run but haven’t heard this for some time coming to think of it) anyway, shortly after my particulate filter light appeared. Normally I’d just take it out on the motorway to clear this but feel less inclined to do so while the car is poorly) No lights on the dash before the dpf light, no limp mode, no hesitation on startup or acceleration, no smoke on startup, no mayo in oil cap at a bit of a loss. Really really hoping someone very clever recognises the above and says ‘I know exactly what this’ and hope that’s not just wishful thinking. over to you guys….my 160k miles 8P seemed like a tank compared this 8V Thank you so much for reading this far and racking your brains over this, eternally grateful 🙏

  4. I'd recommend a second opinion from an Audi independent specialist. If you can get the part number id recommend you source a 2nd hand part, on sites such as eBay including international sellers.

  5. Where have you tried so far? I'd recommend you try eBay including international sellers. In addition I'd recommend you put wanted ads on breaker sites.

  6. My mechanic checked and cleaned the brakes. He said the front discs were pitted and should be replaced, fair enough Audi did this for nothing as the car was still under the 30 days of my ownership. The noise is still there, and still sounds like it’s from the back passenger side. I’ve left it for now, might take an Audi person out sometime, but another thread I’ve posted on has said it’s probably the material the pads are made from, that Audi changed the pads to give less dust. Also took a family member out who drives an A6. He said his car makes similar noises (but I haven’t heard the in his car). I’m leaving for now as it does seem to brake fine…. Maybe at my next service I’ll check back with my usual mechanic…still be interested to see how others get on, seems a common complaint..

  7. My advice would be to take the wiring harness, ECU, injection pump and maybe instrument cluster from the donor car. As the imobiliser is linked to the ECU, cluster and pump. You could risk it and hope its compatible and/or get an auto electrician to wire up the harness. Also I've hidden your other thread as it's a duplicate.

  8. Fair enough, but why not say so from the start. The forum name you have chosen for yourself is bound to raise suspicion.

  12. Since this section sees little activity,I thought I would wake it up and possibly raise a topic which might cause some controversy - so apologies in advance if it offends, but hopefully it will allow views to be aired. The forum appears to be experiencing an increasing number of ‘members’ joining the forum, to seek help via. their first post, and again simply saying it as it is, then some disappear without any acknowledgement or even feedback, never to return to contribute towards helping others at some point in the future. Steve Q generously welcomes new members who join simply to advise the forum of their interest in Audi, and without wishing to appear patronising, I think Steve’s welcoming attitude is to be applauded, as is the the time taken by some of the new members who don’t immediately want anything, other than joining a like minded community. I just ask- where does this welcoming attitude become taken for granted, and folks just join to seek a free - of charge, and future exchange - consultation? I believe some forums exercise a procedure, whereby new members must make a number of posts before say, advertising, and even requesting help, based on ensuring a participation, rather than a simple ‘I’m joining to pick your brains free of charge’. Just a thought - If new members wish to post a plea for help at a stage where they haven’t posted x number of earlier participating posts, then should they join and post a plea only as paid ‘Supporting members’? Apologies if any of this offends, or is considered non-welcoming, and indeed if any of the above is not shared by others. As usual - Kind regards, Gareth.
