  1. Hi there, Could anyone suggest a website for selling on a car for parts. We called the RAC and eventually they turned up, the chap said it was a crying shame due to the cars condition (very goodexcellent) that he thought the engine had seized. He asked about mileage etc and he said to advertise car for parts but advise that he believes the car/engine has seized and will need work including a belt (sorry im not a car fan). He gave us a ball park figure of what he reckoned it would fetch but we honestly cant be bothered and would rather pass on to someone that enjoys a project etc etc Any help folks would be appreciated,

  3. My wife complained today about her windows sticking so I've done her's tonight. I heard about this Gummi stuff years ago on a Volkswagen site, there were problems with the Eos roof leaking and it seemed to be partly down to the rubber becoming hard and not sealing properly. Regular use of the Gummi pflege plumps up the rubber and helps to stop the water getting in. It's used quite a lot on the BMW E89 and 3 series hard top convertible roofs. 👍

  4. Your not missing anything if you don’t have them, Hid’s needed them in uk as a legal requirement but all they do is use your screen wash quicker. Headlamp washer pump is located higher in the bottle on most manufacturers so they run out of fluid before your windscreen pump for obvious safety reasons

  5. Rob. Nobody has suffered a gearbox failure because of too many oil changes.

  6. Thanks Steve. Useful if disappointing news. My z4 has a similar bi-xenon set up and you can drive at daytime speeds at night - traffic permitting !

  7. Ideally never run the engine without coolant so turn off before draining, you will never get all the coolant out so don’t worry too much, bottem hose is best as should drain down to Lowest point but pull as many as you want. if coolant is hot the thermostat should be open which would help

  8. Away from work this week but check if you have a sensor on/near the thermostat housing also. quite common to have 2 different temperature sensors that are used by different systems. A basic obd2 reader might only be able to access engine related sensors not body controller sensors. Check wiring and condition of connector pins one the sensors and if possible back probe the sensors to check resistance readings with a meter. resistance should change with coolant temperature change and be progressive. that’s a few basic checks worth trying before sending cluster away

  9. A3 clusters of that era are known to fail, so don't discount a similar problem with your A4. They can be repaired by several companies for less than £300. ECU Testing have a good reputation in that respect but there are others if you care to search.

  10. Many thanks Steve, Probably pessimistic, but be prepared that they will check the history and see your complaint has been disputed by the supplying dealer. Fore warned …. Kind regards, Gareth.
