  1. Hi only Audi can code the new keys as they have exclusive rights to them and wont release them, I needed a spare key for my daughters Q3 so I propositioned the mobile locksmith my garage uses and he said he couldn't do it for love nor money as Audi only have the codes and even if you got the right key second hand the chip inside needs recoding and be accepted by the dealership mainframe computer. I did enquire how much for a new key from Audi, just over £400, BTW coding a battery is a much simpler process. Steve.

  3. I’ve had the exact same experience with my wife’s Audi mmi as you are having, I ended up giving up and just use CarPlay for everything when I use it. Thought it was just me but even my teenagers moan about how bad the mmi is to use compared to the bmw idrive. Sorry I can’t give any help to solve your problem

  4. Hi Nicola. Please ignore that last post of mine ! Just looked at your profile and I see you are situated in Glasgow. Hampshire is a long way to come to save a few bob! My bad. Hope you get your suspension sorted.

  5. Hi Nicola I was hoping and waiting to see if anyone could reply as I'm afraid I haven't the technical knowledge to help you with your problem. It looks as though you have received some good advice from the other posters. Just one thing though. May I ask where you are ? If you do have an airbag suspension problem and that sounds pricey, I do have a Audi specialist garage who I use in Hampshire. Matt is a brilliant technical guy who uses genuine Audi parts but he charges half the rate of an Audi main dealership. Been using him for years on my previous VW Phaetons ( with air suspension ) my previous A8 and now my two new Q8's. I would thoroughly recommend him. Just a thought.

  6. Key coding needs to be done by Audi or a auto locksmith. Search for ones locally.

  7. here is a quote from another audi forum.....I would say its highly unlikely anyone has this ability, as clearly if VCDS made this available, car thefts would go through the roof.

  9. That’s great. I appreciate your input. The car has only done £26k miles so I would have expected to get more miles out of the car before a new airbag would need replacing.

  10. Genuine Audi Q8 suspension airbag unit will be over £1k for fronts. Doubt it's the compressor as it's going back to normal ride height on start-up, and likely to be the air suspension unit or the fixing point where the tube enters the unit via a union. These units, although I'm no expert wouldn't need to be fitted as pairs as per normal coil-spring set-up. Possible to find used parts but on a 2020 vehicle but personally I'd opt for new given you have labour to fit. There are after-market parts from reputable makers who probably make them for Audi anyway, but it's all about compatibility. Suspect there's some sort of configuration once a new part is fitted - again access to VCDS to scan will reveal. You should be able to find part number here: https://www.lllparts.co.uk/

  11. Glad you got it sorted, open circuit faults often mean you’ve dropped a feed wire but finding where on the circuit can be a challenge.

  12. Had this message appear on Friday night. Thankfully having read this tale, I knew exactly what to do - ordered one off ebay £14.99 it arrived today and was fitted tonight in less than 5 mins - great forum.

  13. Hi, in my Audi A4 2015 the apple carplay feature is rather inconsistent and sometimes it won't work at all. I have two ports for the apple carplay and both of them seem to be the same. It works most of the time but if it's not worked for the initial start up of the car it won't work until the next time it's started again. The phone always gets a connection as I can see it being on charge, however the apple carplay won't be working. I have tried using different cables or phones and that does not change anything. I am unaware if this could be an MMI software issue where I have to update the version of it. Anyone seen this issue before? Thank you in advance.

  14. If the chrome has deteriorated they might not be worth saving, but you need to wash them first with mild detergent to see what you're dealing with. I see tar spots flung up from the rear wheels, so you can dissolve with a damp microfibre cloth and a dab of petrol. Wear nitrile gloves. in terms of bringing back the polish look, then Autosol paste applied with damp microfibre then buffed off gives good results.

  16. Hi Todel, I have the 65 plate A4 with wired car play and also had this issue since I bought it in 2022. I haven’t found an exact fix but I managed to improve it, occasionally it won’t work but id say it connects 95% of the time now. 1. When you get into the car the first thing you should do is plug in your phone before starting the car or ignition. Wait 5-10 seconds and you should see the Apple car play screen light up on your phone, go ahead and turn on the car and it should be sound. The longer you leave it to plug in your phone after getting in or evening just opening the doors the less chance of it connecting first time, that’s what I found anyway. let’s say I need maps and it won’t connect and don’t have time to mess around, I go into my settings, delete my car as connection in car play and replug in again and it connects first time. 2. try clearing out your charger port on your phone, honestly I had so much dust and crap in there that although the phone would charge it was messing with the Apple car play as it had too much wiggle and wouldn’t connect properly. this seems to work for me, hopefully this helps.

  18. Thanks alpha omega. On mine the lock is definitely making a noise when triggered by the key buttons, so maybe it's something inside the lock itself that's failed. Anyway I'll put up with it for now until the weather warms up....!

  19. I've had a few Jap imports in my time MR2 turbo , GT4 etc. All were in exceptional condition and all had been unersealed on their arrival to a dealer. Never had an issue selling them on either, all parts are available and there was never an issue with things getting lost in translation due to a combination of most parts having English print on them somewhere and Google assistance. Haven't had an import for about 12 years now though. Oh, and they all had a high spec on them especially for the price. And the mileage....super low. The only exception i ever found to euro spec being better was on the twin turbo supra where the UK got full leather and bigger brakes plus about 50bhp extra. If i found a good vehicle imported i would not hesitate if the price was right. I always made sure the car was in the country so i could go inspect it first, i've heard a few horror stories from people who imported their own.

  20. Hardly matters, I have them on CCTV, 15 seconds after entering my other vehicle, with a something in the ODB port and it was started.
