  3. I’m sure the water pump would start rattling/leaking before 150k 😵‍💫😅 I follow the VAG technic channel on YouTube. They’ve just done major work on a low mileage Porsche cayenne engine (same engine as some Audi) Porsche recommends something like 20k miles between services. The owner of this car serviced it every 6 k miles …

  4. Hi Gareth, thanks very much for the reply. When I've looked into the same part number with a different suffix letter at the end it's always been a different hose - looking at engine diagrams with part numbers, the engine has different hoses with the same part number but with a different suffix on the end. Looking on UK eBay I have managed to get a second hand hose from a vehicle dismantler, although I was really after a new one - the one I've bought is the same age as the one on the car so I assume just as 'aged' or 'perished' as mine and as likely to leak (mine is basically leaking from the ends of the hose, I assume where the clamps are no longer tight enough?) I have looked at vehicle parts suppliers in the EU and found the hose in their listings, but none of them have stock. However, I haven't looked at eBay International, so will take a look thanks. Another option I was thinking about was to get a custom silicone hose made up and that was the main reason for buying the second hand hose from eBay - for use as a pattern. However, I wanted to ask if anyone had found a source of hose parts in the club before I went down this potentially expensive route. I'll take a look at eBay International and let you know how I get on. Many Thanks. Dave.

  5. Hi Matt, The coding issue I came across was where the LED main beams had been erroneously coded as HID and were receiving only 25% of the power they should have had. This guy had the coding corrected and the LED lights were much better than they had been. I'll see if I can find the post again when I get a moment. Hi Richard, Thanks for all that and you have confirmed my thoughts that it is not really a viable solution. I had seen the costs of the units - new and 2nd hand. I can live with the lights as they are if I have to but it is disappointing. I do a lot of night driving and I'd hoped the new car (to me) which is great in almost every other respect would be at least as good as the old one (XC70) at night. Also just to confirm a point is a previous post - I do actually have the working headlight washers. As far as I know the light units are all one piece and the garage didn't think bulbs could be changed independently. However I will investigate further.

  7. Look through the history of this forum. I know there have been similar problems reported in relation to MMI, but I don't recall which models or years as I see so many posts each day. Note that Audi will resist all attempts to accept your rejection of the car, so you will need to be strong willed to pursue the claim.

  8. Hello Oli, Welcome and thanks for joining. To your last point first :- it really doesn’t matter if anyone else has had a similar issue - you have, and it’s a potentially dangerous fault which the dealer has failed to resolve. As I see it, you now need to take legal advice on how to proceed to reject this unsafe car. CAB should be able to help you. If there is any element of finance involved in the purchase/part purchase, then you would need to inform them too. Please keep us posted on how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

  11. Apologies for the gripe, but the forum has recently suffered from a spate of what can be termed ‘Post and Run’ new members, who seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to post a plea for help, and simply not return to view the help given. In a more diluted form, help is offered, but is very rarely acknowledged even via. a simple press of the Like button, leave alone a posted Thank You. The last part of the gripe is that we frequently have to ask for additional information, and this extra detail often never materialises. Please remember, everyone who posts replies do so without payment, but it certainly does cost them in time - in terms of the Moderators and Admin back up - a lot of time. So a special plea to all on here who post needing help:- please be respectful enough to acknowledge any help given, rather than simply accept it as a no-cost, no time of yours, free advice service. It’s wearing thin folks, so if you want to retain this service, please respect and acknowledge its benefits. Thank you all for reading this, and above all, agreeing to adhere to the respect that is needed to be shown. Kind regards, On behalf of the Moderators. Please note:- This request is to all members, not just new ones.
