  1. Hi OE, Gates, Dayco, Continental, if you dont change the water pump you will live to regret that choice, most kits worth the money come with the lot, belt ,idler pulley, tensioner, water pump and new bolts. Steve.

  2. Hello, Why on earth Autodoc and spurious brands?? Whatever you do, do not buy on price for this critical application - always buy quality parts at best prices. I’ve always stuck with Gates, who were one of the OE suppliers to VAG. I don’t have any connection with this company, but try entering your reg. no. into Parts in Motion ( Exeter ) website and see what their prices are. When you have done that, look on EBay for their listings for the chosen part - often a little cheaper via. this route. Unlike Autodoc, they do free delivery. Always renew the auxiliary belt at the same time. 135k miles an cambelt never? renewed? Glad you got away with that one! Please let us know what prices you come up with. As has been said, worth checking parts price at Audi for comparison. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Where is Rogers?

  3. You’re asking a generic question. There are multiple engine variants on 1.4TFSI platform. If your mates are doing it, get OE, it’s probably less than you think. Failing that a recognised and respected timing belt manufacturer, such as Gates, Continental, etc. This is a critical component, don’t cut corners due to cost.

  4. Just follow Steve’s advice Alan, and you shouldn’t go wrong. As said, I would certainly also renew the auxiliary belt at the same time - again, I use Gates. Worth ordering yourself some correct coolant - Comma brand should be fine. Please let us know how you get on, what you buy, where from, and at what prices. Kind regards, Gareth.

  6. Hello Mark, Looks like the leak is coming from the cover bolt to the top of your photo. There is usually a neoprene washer under this. My course of action would be to use brake cleaner to clean everything up on the cover to be better able confirm the leak site. If confirmed to be from there, I would be tempted to buy one from VAG for this application. Are you going to DIY this? Kind regards, Gareth.

  7. Hi, It`s behind the glove box towards the central console. If you remove the glove box you can see the pipes and the core, however, to remove it as someone said previously in this thread you will need to remove part of your heaterbox fan. Someone said it took around 2 hours to get it changed with lots of screws. I plan to change mine soon, maybe in a couple of weeks and I plan to take a few pictures of the steps and post them here.

  8. I'm not sure if it's the same as a diagnostic check at a mechanics but i plugged in my carista and no faults on there. I'm probably going to take it to the mechanics this week to do a deeper check on the cooling system, will keep you both updated!

  9. Did your parking sensors deactivate when you plugged in your caravan as they should if it was coded and wired correctly. No fogs on your car makes me think that someone has made a mess of wiring in the tow socket

  10. I originally had intermittent heat, this then became no heat. I just googled around to see what the issue could be. That pointed me to some coolant “bag” issues some people were having. this related to there being silica bags that would burst and cause a blockage in the heater core which in turn would lead to limited or no heat. if you have a helpful garage close by you could ask them to flush the heater core for you. Or there are videos online if you’re confident with trying this yourself.

  11. Update: this seems to have worked. Took the unit out gave it a good wipe down and dry, put the new gasket in and haven't had any issues since. I've washed the car too so power washer over that area hasnt led to any water ingress. A cheap and painless repair. If only they were all like that.

  12. Keep us posted on how you get on. I believe the hazards run off a different system even though the same indicators flash.

  13. Guide and pictures credited to Jack Millin. Flat bottom steering wheel off a S3 8P fitted to my 2010 B8 Avant. The electrical plug needed 2 little tabs trimming off and 3 of the wires de pinning and putting in different positions and it all works. I've attached a picture of the wiring guide as well. This guide should also be applicable to the b7 A4 too.
