  1. When I got my Q5, I was painfully aware of just how scratched and dented the centre trim was. Decided it was finally time to rip out the whole centre console so I could remove the offending trim. Replacing with a standard trim would just end up the same way, the carbon replacements are either too expensive or poor fitting so instead I used some alloy wheel repair filler to fill in all the dents and scratches. After a few hours to cure I got on with the boring job of sanding it down. Got some carbon fibre wrap and set to work. Took me forever to get to this stage but as it was my first attempt at wrapping I expected as much. Carefully put everything back together and here is the end result. Think it's turned out rather nicely 😎

  2. Spartacus, Thank you for taking the time with your concise and logical answer. It immediately helped me understand the issue. £345 to repair the damage! Kind Regards,

  4. Hundreds of pounds sound about normal for new heater matrix. Look up similar threads on this forum for more detail.

  6. Usually 32mm and only 25Nm to torque (with a smear of fresh oil on the new ‘o’ ring). Details of the torque value will be on the filter housing.

  7. Hi either 27mm or 32mm unless they changed the sizes again, the correct size is stamped on the top of the housing. Steve.

  8. You were lucky to keep the car running for two years with a defective battery. You would not believe the number of members here who will not accept that a battery can be faulty if it starts the car or still has over 12 volts. Possibly the fuel pressure message is genuine. Consider taking the car to a VAG specialist rather than an Audi dealer for diagnosis and repair.

  9. Issue with the heater matrix being blocked? Issue with the control module?

  10. No S Tronic is dual clutch, 7 speed used on 3.0TDI 218hp model. Tiptronic is single clutch with torque convertor and 8 speed. Both need serviced. S Tronic every 38k miles. Tiptronic then Audi will say sealed for life. I don't buy that as there's a ZF8 maintenance kit specifically for it, so I did it earlier this year when it turned 60k miles. Absolutely critical these boxes are maintained as auto gearbox replacement is ridiculously expensive. On quattro, the rear diff gear oil should be changed too anywhere from 60-80k miles.
