Hey guys, hope all is well Yesterday, a symbol came up on the dashboard. The only other time I've seen it is when my dad went on holiday, and asked me to start their car for a while periodically. I did so and noticed this came up, then went away after a few days (the car hadn't moved). Now it has also come up on my car and I'm not sure what it is. Anybody seen it before (image attached)?

Just an update for those who are interested: I bottled it at about 4 miles showing (it showed 5, but only went down in multiples of 5, and I had driven a mile after it had changed) and filled it up as much as I could. This came to 63.71 litres. I can't find/be bothered to look for my owners manual, but with the help of google I have managed to realise that I have 63 litres with a reserve tank of about 6-7 litres, which should get me 30-40 more miles (at 0) from my (loose) calculations. So now you know. P.S. as mentioned, I used google for those figures. As we all know, google is hardly the source of all knowledge, so if anybody has any other information from perhaps a more accurate source (a previous owner etc) I will stand corrected.

@Steve Any word on a minimum? I was working it out yesterday, and if all goes to plan, I'd have 20.4 miles to drive after 0. Obviously I'd rather work to a minimum rather than a maximum though, just to be safe. I've had a google, and for the same car somebody mentioned 70-80 miles after the light comes on. The range shows 50 when the light first comes on, so that sounds ok. @Gareth you're not actually far off, so I'm not offended 😉. I know it doesn't seem rational (especially in this weather), but I was going to fill up a few days ago, and the thought of how much I can get out of it suddenly came over me. Tbh, I'll probably be asked to give someone a lift and will have to cancel the whole experiment.

Hi all, hope you're well For reasons that I won't go into (partly because they're a little whimsical), I was wondering today what the reserve fuel capacity in an A4 2.0 tdi (57 plate s-line if that helps) is? I've got 30 miles to empty, and potentially have 60 miles (just under) to go until, for utterly sentimental reasons, I'd like to top up. This is the first time I've let it run this low in over a year of having the car, and I intend to top it up fully with the VPower stuff, but will it last?

I had the same problem with my last car (not an audi). Ended up having to get the switch replaced as it has gone faulty as magnet says.

Hi all Bit puzzled by this, so hoping for some help. Recently, my car alarm has gone off a few times. The first couple of times, my sister was in the car with my nephew, and they weren't sure what set it off, so I figured it must have been a sensor triggered by movement in the car when the doors are locked (the button to switch this on/off are inside the driver door pocket, and I was fiddling with this recently trying to work out what the buttons were for, so may well have switched it on). However, yesterday it went off when the car was parked at home and it hadn't moved for a day or so. I went out, switched it off, had a look over the car and all looked well. I wondered what it was, but never thought too much of it. However, today, my sister pointed out some scratches on the rear door which I had never noticed before (they are right where the door opens, as if someone has tried to prize the door open). The door also seemed a little ajar, but not enough to trigger a dashboard warning that the door is open. Does anyone think this is an attempted break in? Maybe it's just vandalism? It seems an odd attempt to break in via, and I wouldn't rule out vandalism either (some of my neighbours are absolute $h!75), but I'm just not sure at the moment. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've occasionally seen the orange light when accelerating hard and turning the wheel slightly. Not sure about losing power though. Do any other lights on the dashboard show up? The engine smoking could lead to a bigger problem down the line, so I'd get that checked asap. If you're going to fork out that sort of money, I'd suggest going to an audi approved garage, so you're not spending unnecessarily.

Yep, it was. The heat shield or something or other had come loose. New screws + bigger washers to hold it in place = job sorted.

Hi all So I have a 57 plate s-line, and in the 20 minute barrage of rain we got today (NW england) at about 6pm, I was joining the motorway. There was a massive puddle on the slip road, and I think I heard a clanking noise. Drove on for about 10 miles, heard absolutely nothing. However, I went over a speed bump and there was a definitive dragging sound. I stopped to have a look under the car, and there is a metal plate hanging off, in the middle of passenger and driver seats, so its unreachable just yet. It doesn't look very strong (maybe a heatshield?), and was dented (I assume from the the knocks it got as I went over the speed bumps). Anyone have any idea what this could be? I'm hoping it's something like a heatshield, so I can just rip it off (the dents look quite bad) and put a new one on, but as I can't reach it, I'll have to wait til I take it to a garage (probably monday now). Edit: when travelling at 5mph+, it makes next to no sound on a normal road. However, when slowing down and going over speedbumps, it rattles quite a lot.

Hi all, hope you're well So, I've recently made a few pretty long journeys with 3/4 people, and hit a few nasty potholes. I was filling up and just thought I should probably fill the tyre pressure too (it's not been filled since I got the car at about the turn of the year, and I'm no expert, but even to me it looked really low yesterday). On my previous cars, the PSI was always 30-35, so I assumed it would be for this too. However, the pump started beeping at me at 26 for the front tyres, and about 20-22 for the rears. Also, the pressure was pretty much already full, I don't think I held the pump to the tyre for more than 1-2 seconds before it beeped at me, so I stopped in case I ended up deflating them. So, to summarise, the pressure seems low and hasn't been affected by months of driving. Both of these things seem odd, has anybody had similar experiences? It's a 57 plate s-line if that's any help.

On the forum page where you can see all the posts, click "sort by" and change it to "recently updated". I suspect this may be the problem. ^ that should give you a link to it

So you're wife can't get in the car? Why are you complaining? I'm here all week! I'm no expert by any means, but I don't think having it checked via laptop will tell you if the fob is faulty/on its way out. It may need new batteries. The laptop electrical check should pick up any problems within the car system itself, so it's positive that nothing was picked up there. Alternatively, if the fob can be opened, the fact that it works intermittently may suggest it just needs a clean. So yeah, those would be my two suggestions, clean the fob if possible or replace the batteries. Pretty basic I know, but hopefully it's nothing too complicated anyway, and the fact no problem was picked up by an electrical check suggests it probably isn't something within the car anyway.

Hi all, hope you're well So I've got an a4 57 plate s-line, and I've always thought when I have some time, I'll populate the phonebook manually. It was pointed out to me that there should be a way to be able to move numbers from my phone to the car phonebook without having to manually enter them. Recently I made a call and everything worked and connected up fine (even though I didn't need it then, and had forgot my phone bluetooth was even on). I tried it again today and the call was made from the car, stayed connected on my phone, but the car said "call disconnected". It also didn't connect for incoming calls even though the auto-answer function was turned on. I appreciate this is a few queries in one, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Justin, Any update? From my (limited experience), I would have thought the problem you originally mentioned is linked to a filter needing to be cleaned or similar. Reason being I had a similar experience (not an audi though). Obviously the car not starting is a bigger issue, which makes me think envy is onto something above re: the battery.

Just googled limp mode, and that may well be what it was! I'll keep that in mind going forward, already learnt something new today!
