  1. Hi All, It is sorted now, in fact just last week. I got onto Audi UK who liased with my local dealer who in turn managed to get into the computer on the car and confirm the hours completed, checked previous Audi history and records and then confirmed that my mileage was correct at the 49800 The fault was made to my car by the garage unnecessarily plugging their “off EBay” diagnostic into my cars OBP and causing a corruption. I now know this service reset can be done within the dash, no need to ever plug in. However Audi said I require a new dash at a cost of £1800 as they can not do a reset as only one reset allowed and the garage with their “off EBay” diagnostics had already taken this reset. Ended up with a “Pete” at £180.00 and Audi at £60.00 and the mileage put correct in include since the corruption at 50480. I am now happy with this and have been upfront with Audi and pleased that it was not something more in that someone had clocked the car at some point. The car is fully spec’d and mint condition which is why I bought it in the first place. It is a joy to have such a wonderful car. Thank you for your interest in my problem. Never to allow anyone other than Audi to plug my car ever again. The original and cause of the problem garage showed very little interest which is extremely sad. If they pay the £240.00 that this has cost me they will have got off very lightly. In addition I had to take best part of a day to sort and about 150 miles travel. What an ordeal! Best wishes Stephen
  2. Hi Gareth, Thank you for your reply and the thought you have taken and time to think about my problem. I agree with your process and therefore will take this Audi route first for the reasons you correctly mention and afterwhich whatever I will make sure the matter is corrected. Thanks again and very much appreciated. Kind regards Stephen
  3. Hi, Thank you for your response. The history is all perfect with full Audi Service and every MOT. It must have been on the main dealer diagnostics many times before with out issue. Everything with paperwork matches in every way. I have driven it and owned it for the best part of 2 years with a steady increase in mileage from 37k to this 49k shown on the Odometer. This garage has the car for oil and filters change and when driving home I noticed the new mileage at 99500! TBH the garage really doesn’t care about my problem and that an extra 50k on the odometer seems to be just one of those things. He says for me to “just take it to Audi”. The garage however also tells me this is common fault and bug with Audi but I cannot find out. Yesterday he plugged in his computer again because I am told by someone who definately knows about car computers that the true mileage and hours will always be on the main ECU despite what the actual odometer on the dash actually reads. I wanted him to tell me this information for my own piece of mind that the mileage is as my belief and supported by all the paperwork for the car that I have. Unfortunately the garage diagnostic computer didn’t actually support the level my car needed to get at this information. He said his diagnostics went to module 15/16 and he needed 17 for this car. The man who “definitely” knows has already told me not to worry and that he will fix and correct but my question remains. Has this happened to other Audi A8 owners and if so is it a known bug/issue/problem? Many thanks Stephen
  4. Already done and perfect thanks. I have every MOT and Audi main dealer service history from new. This is a question about how the mileage had moved from 49k to 99k following a service from an independent garage. The actual mileage and hours the car has been driven will be stored on the car, it is simply why has this happened. The hours will also determine mileage with a known formulae. My question remains in that has anyone out there experienced the same issue with their Audi.
  5. I have had the car two years and it has been on Audi dealership diagnostics as well as this particular diagnostics when they replaced front and rear brakes. I understand that you might think at some point it has been clocked and we have reverted back to some default. You might be correct, I don’t know, but the MOT and Audi service history all tallies. It is an exceptional car in mint condition but then it is high quality to start, seats, interior and bodywork mint, engine perfect in everyway. Who knows, loads of crooks out there.
  6. Took my 2010 Audi d4 4.2 TDI for service at an Independent garage yesterday. It went in with 49900 miles on the clock and now it has 99900 miles on the clock. They tell me it is some bug or something and that it happens on my model of car and I will have to take it to Audi. They plugged their computer into it again today but their software wasn’t up to 17 which they needed to look at Car ECU. Clearly I know nothing about any of this and what is going on. Has anyone any knowledge of this happening before. Many thanks in anticipation.
