Strange as most of the people who report failures online seem to indicate an error but it's weird as yours is intermittent. The only other thing I reckon that may be worth a try is taking the motors off and cleaning it all up properly to see if that helps?

Pretty sure that pre dates smart phones unfortunately I reckon you could get a nice pioneer double din in there and it would look the part. Perhaps look at something with Android Auto if you have an HTC? I'd imagine that place in Portsmouth would be a good start. They should know what they're talking about. Pretty rare to find dedicated car audio specialists these days!

Personally I would go straight back to the garage if all was fine up until you went in? They should have diagnostic equipment to be able to look at and reset the codes too.

Yeah that's fairly high mileage. 620 miles is fairly decent from a tank, though I have seen some of the really modern diesels getting 800 - 1000 now Not sure what the range is like on the S8 - probably has a fairly large tank right?

The only other thing I would take a guess at is either a temperamental motor or even the switch itself? Do you get any error codes or warnings when it doesn't work?

You're right Jim, probably for the best. Especially if you are trying to avoid expensive repair bills!! Where in France is the farmhouse?

Not a huge amount you can do regarding the emissions thing. Just need to wait and see what the "fix" is and then decide whether or not to go ahead with it. It will come down to whether or not it makes any difference to performance/economy which is quite likely I suspect!

The electronic parking brake should self adjust so it will always hold as the brake pads wear. Sounds almost as if it could be an electronic issue rather than a physical/mechanical one?

Hi John welcome! A few sleepless nights this week then? It's like waiting for Christmas as a child! You'll love the engine/auto box combo. The auto boxes have come a long way and they're really good these days! Make sure you post a few pics up when you get it! What car have you come from?
