It's hard to tell without a second remote to be honest, but from what you described my money would be on the key.
Perhaps worth investing in a second new remote from Audi and keeping the other as a proper spare?
Hi welcome to the club! :)
What sort of year/spec are you looking at? Should be a good time to buy a convertible soon as the prices will start dipping a bit for the winter B)
Welcome :)
Sadly, Audi have taken the decision not to release PDF versions of their manuals, unlike many other car manufacturers who do these days. Sometimes you can find them online uploaded by owners etc but I've been unable to find one for the Q3 yet :(
Perhaps, but then as you said, I'm not sure I would fancy paying $30 per month just for messaging. For that price, messages will have to wait until I get out, but at least you can use it for calls and bluetooth audio :)
Yes I did see the OEM stuff on there hence the link.
Just thought it may be worth tapping them for a bit of info such as what is involved and then getting the bits yourself from eBay ;)
You never know though they may be able to help with any software/coding issues too?
Depends on the kit.
Most aftermarket kits do have separate sensors that plug in so you should be able to replace them.
If you feel behind the bumper on an existing one you should hopefully be able to follow the wire back a short distance to a plug. Then it's just a case of finding our which brand of sensors you have and ordering the sensors.
Geoff, may be worth chatting with these guys:

Looks like they have quite a comprehensive range of OEM Audi stuff that you can upgrade to...
S-Tronic is basically DSG and generally the more reliable of the two.
Sounds like it most likely would be a clutch/dual mass flywheel issue but the problem is the whole lot will have to come out anyway to look at it.
Oh dear not another fault Karen :(
From what you have described that does sound like you're being fobbed off a little bit to me.
I suppose if you had the seat in one of the far extremes e.g all the way in or all the way out they could just about say it's putting stress on it or something but not if it's in the middle somewhere.
Well the solar reflective screen is designed to reduce heat inside the car so the fact that your is limo spec and it has the cooled sunroof I would assume it probably has the windscreen too...
Just a thought - I believe some A8 models were specified with Solar Reflective Glass and this could cause trouble with GPS signal. Do you think this could be the case with yours/do you know if you have this fitted?
Sounds like you're doing pretty much all you can then. Careful fuse pulling and testing is often the best way to find a battery drain yourself. Keep us in the loop if you find the cause.
