  1. Audi themselves do not make the bar, it will usually be made by a reputable third party supplier anyway, often I believe it is a German company Westfalia who supply VAG cars but I could be wrong. Go to a well established independent towbar outfit who supply a good brand such as Westfalia. You may even be able to get the OEM bar just under a different name. Also, make sure you pay the extra for the dedicated wiring kit. Westfalia will probably make the dedicated plug in kit which will plug straight into the car and not require any electrics to be chopped and joined. Again this will possible be identical to OEM. Sometimes these even have the Audi part numbers on them. If you use a proper Westfalia dealer, they will likely have access to a coding machine or be able to take it to the local Audi dealer on your behalf. The end result should be the same as OEM just significantly cheaper :) Let me know how you get on.
  2. Very strange. I'm pretty sure the car will have a trip computer. Perhaps something is just not functioning correctly... Have you tried popping into your local Audi dealer to see if they can figure it out for you?
  3. That's bizarre... never heard of that happening before. Has the car been behaving itself since? Did the update achieve what you were hoping?
  4. Sorry about the delayed reply Will I've been away. Was this ever resolved in the end or are you still getting the problem even after putting it into the garage?
  5. Not used them personally but have heard reasonably good things in the reviews. If I'm not mistaken were these not one of the first tyres to score highly for both fuel economy and wet braking?
  6. Certainly is strange Bob depends if you are a believer of "everything happens for a reason" I guess! Your shaving cream looks interesting although it is currently unavailable at both of those links...
  7. Being Cat C I would have thought £1500 - £1800 is about right
  8. Take a look at page 27 of the manual: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3628815/Audi_A4_2008_Owners_Manual.pdf It mentions briefly tapping the reset button to switch between trip 1/2 and other functions.
  9. Hi Mark, That does seem a little low but what type of journeys have you been on with it so far? I would try it on a longer run and see how you get on. I would be expecting at least mid to high forties to be honest. Have you also tried giving it a bit of a thrash through the gears to clear it out and putting some premium fuel in it?
  10. I'm assuming it's diesel... Before trying anything else I would be inclined to run the tank down to nearly empty and then fill it up with something like Shell V power diesel and/or a decent diesel injector cleaner. Once that tank starts flowing through, I'd take it out and give it a good thrashing through the gears (once warmed up) to try and clear it out a bit. Definitely worth using a decent fuel and/or injector cleaner occasionally with a diesel too in my opinion.
  11. Bob, I've got to admit that's quite a story - thanks for sharing! So you wound up back in the UK then?
  12. :o Please tell us more....
  13. Fair enough, glad you got it sorted! Must have been a little concerning to see a lose fuse on the floor!
  14. Hi Richie, I'm not 100% sure on this but I can't see Audi making different door cards to cater for the different speakers, especially when they offer B & O systems too. Your best bet would be to pop one door card off and try one. Looking at the photo it looks as if it's only really the two larger speakers and sub that could be an issue anyway. Do let us know how you get on though!
  15. No problem Bob, glad I could help. What were you needing to access the fuse box for out of interest?
  16. Is yours the one that has a black and a brown fuse carrier? If so, I may have found something:
  17. Yes... a lot... and what's happened to the rest of summer!? B)
  18. Yes sounds like some spacers are required it would make me a little nervous if it was that close
  19. Sadly not, as they are not in my area. Just thought I would have a quick look for specialists in your area. Usually a specialist is a good bet as you often get technicians that are very knowledgeable with the brand but at a more competitive price than the main dealer.
  20. I honestly wouldn't spend more than about £50 on a kit these days if you are going for a basic set of 4 sensors and a buzzer. There's loads of choice out there and you can get them pre painted if you shop around to try and match the colour of your bumper. If you go for fancier kits with visual displays etc it gets more expensive. Not necessarily worth it in my opinion plus you have more work to wire the display in. They are fairly easy to install and many kits also include a bumper cutting tool too.
  21. The ultimate wax is good I've got this one in paste format and haven't ever had a problem with dust. I do try and keep away from panel gaps etc though. I have also tried the AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine before and found that one did produce quite a bit of dust.
  22. Yes unfortunately I think that is the only way to update the older models. Depends how long you are going to keep it and whether you will want to update it again as to whether it is worth forking out the £30 for the cable I suppose...
  23. Hi Rob, Could be expensive but depends how you want to go about it. If you want to do a full OEM retro fit then the parts will be very expensive unless you get very lucky and find a great deal on second hand parts. Also, when thinking about xenons, bare in mind that it is legally a grey area to fit xenons without auto levelling and headlight washers. The cheaper option would be to get after market xenons fitted. These kits are relatively cheap and readily available on ebay etc but again you could have issues with the legality although many people have fitted them and never had a problem - just something to bare in mind. Also, you will need to get a canbus compatible kit to avoid problems with bulb warning lights etc.
  24. Hi Andy, welcome to the club! I'm guessing you're his go to mechanic then....
  25. Fair enough... The trouble is once you have an annoying noise like that you literally can't hear anything else whilst driving the car and it takes all the enjoyment out of it.
