I must admit, a manual is great when you get the opportunity to give the car some beans on a nice clear, twisty bit of road, but 99% stuck in traffic/commuting an Auto is like a dream.
Interesting project - have you managed to find a pair of the lights as I imagine they cost a fortune from Audi?
Don't forget to make it 100% legit you will also need the headlight washers and auto levelling to work so not exactly a straightforward upgrade!
Michelin make their new CrossClimate in your size which is a really good tire, if you like the idea of having a tyre that also works really well in the winter not just the summer?
Make sure it has good service history and has been a well cared for car.
They can suffer with the usual diesel issues but as with anything, sometimes you seem to get lucky and get a good one, sometime you don't.

If you stick with a decent brand you should be fine. Just avoid the cheap and nasty ones. I've always liked Yuasa personally but that's just my preference...
