  1. Might be fixable. What's the problem that you're experiencing with the VVT Solenoid? If it's leaking, there could be an O Ring. (I don't know for sure, but I'm interested to know for myself, if the VVT can be serviced or repaired)

Is it a private sale or Dealer? Independent inspection is a must for any used car, especially when spending that much money! There's an A4 B5 Forum here in Oz. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1910376765662134/ You might find or ask there for recommendations where to go, if you need someone to do it. Your Turbo to Exhaust Manifold Nuts might have loosened off. Whistling sound is air escaping from somewhere. Is there an exhaust smell or blackened area? Look with a mirror or an inspection camera. Careful - it's HOT! Invest in some Nordlock Washers and retighten the nuts. There just might be a vacuum leak causing the whistling sound. The gasket could be gone too. Look here to see if this diagram matches your engine code.   7. Hi Andreas,. Good to see you're doing your own repairs for your 2009 A4 2.0TFSI. It's a real pain, when you can't find where something should have gone. We all do it, even "Down Under" in Australia, where I live Is there a Part # on it at all? (I thought Audi covered most of the rebuild costs for high oil consumption) Perhaps it's #12 06H 103 156 This site below has always been helpful to me. Hi Stephen, Having just bought your Audi A4 2009 2.0 Known as B8, it takes a while to familiarise yourself & get to know what is fitted, what to look out for etc. In Australia, we don't have "59 Plate" - just Build Plate Month/Year & Compliance Plate. I don't want to alarm you, just inform, so here goes.... In addition to Gareth's advice:- Check if it has had Timing Chain Tensioner Revision already fitted. There are a few more things to watch out for, just like any used car on the market. If I remember correctly:- there are reported cases of the old Timing Chain Tensioners failing on some 2.0 Engine Codes. In Australia, there's a site for reference, with Detailed Reviews, Complaints, Recalls for various Makes & Models. Check with your Audi Dealer. or a respected Independent in your area. (Similar Engine, with Timing Chain)
  9. A4 2004 should have an Ignition Control Module (ICM) on the Airbox, unless it has Push-Down Coilpacks and ICM delete. ICM failure results in random misfires, hard cold start, hard hot starts. #1C Part Number 4D0 905 35. I had this problem and was difficult to diagnose, even with a scan tool.   10. What you're experiencing should be normal:- Is it the fan or the Coolant After-Run Pump? The Pump protects the Turbocharger by circulating Coolant after you've stopped driving. It should turn itself off automatically, a few minutes after your switch off the ignition. If the fan or pump keeps running forever, Scan for fault codes. Look closely at the electrical connections. Check the Relays.
  11. Does it have a Part Number on it? If it has a Part Number, it should be easy to find. https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/ I can't say that I've seen that part. I own an A3 8L & do my own Services.
  12. I can't say anything about Diesels vs Petrol, as I've only ever owned Petrol. In terms of various Makes & Models Reliability you should read this Consumer Case Report Article from 2014, which tells about issues with various Makes including Audis Consumer Reports :-Excessive oil consumption isn't normal The following is more specific:-Audi Engine Oil Consumption Reading this and doing your own research will tell you to look for either early A3 8P or late A3 8P 1.8TFSI or 2.0 TFSI Petrol, unless there are records to prove that the Revised Pistons & Rings, Timing Chain Tensioner & PCV have already been fitted, it which case, you'll appreciate how nice to drive the A3 8P really are. My only real gripe is that whenever it rains, water floods in, if you have the window down a bit. I bought some aftermarket Heko 4 Piece Weathershields to fix that. I bought a used 2010 A3 8P 1.8TFSI EA888 CDAA Sportwagon with 6 Speed Manual with 203,000 km. It drinks oil (1 litre per 600km) I did ask my Local Australian Audi Dealer if there was anything at all that I should know about any problems this Audi Model before purchasing. The Australian Audi Dealership told me that there were was "nothing known at this time" I even gave them the VIN Number. I bought the car (not from them) in good faith and regret it. It has a Full Audi Service History (FASH) up until 150,000km with the subsequent Services done at Independent Service Places. Did the Audi Dealer know about the aforementioned piston, ring, timing chain tensioner, PCV revisions & inherent problems? I'm going take my car to Audi Dealer for the "Oil Consumption Test" pretty soon and keep my fingers crossed that it FAILS & that Audi will pay for most of the rebuild & repairs. Bottom line is, do your own research, whatever Make or Model you choose. Don't believe everything a Dealer tells you. Get a Warranty with your purchase or at least a fully independent evaluation report done before you buy. Good luck.
