  1. Hi all I need to change the rear shock on my 2007 Q7, if i change with a second hand unit will the shock need to be coded to the car or is it a straight swap? Thanks
  2. Hi Guys I need to replace the swirl flaps on my 2007 3.0 TDI Q7. I need to replace the full set butterflies and seals etc, not just the arm from the swirl flap motor, tried this and still got the engine light. Can anyone recommend a kit for this, i have seen lots on Ebay at different prices but not sure which one to buy, i want to get the full kit not just the blanking kits that you can buy. Any advice where i can source a good quality kit would be most welcom. I am in the UK by the way. Thanks
  3. Hi all My 2007 Q7 has come nasty scuffs on the lower door mouldings on the drivers side it is a 2 tone grey colour car with the dark grey as the body colour and door mouldings a lighter grey. My question is can these be filled and painted? If so what is the colour code and where can i buy the paint i have been looking for a pair of second hand ones but can't find any to match the car at the moment so wanted to try and refurb what i have. Thanks
  4. Hi all I need some help with the wing mirror repeater on my 2007 Q7. The repeater works but VAGCOM tells me there is an error and i am getting that annoying alert whenever i start the car so i presume there is some sort of resistance problem telling the brain it is not working. I took the mirror apart today, does anyone know where i can buy just the LED module part that sits inside the repeater reflector body? Thanks
  5. Hi all Can anyone help with a paint code for Q7 lower door trim the car is a dark grey with lighter grey plastic trim, no idea where i can find a code to get some paint to repaint these trim parts. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  6. Hi All I need to replace the LED in the wing mirror repeater on a 2007 Q7, can anyone point me in the right direction of where to buy i just need the LED part which looking inside the mirror is replaceable without changing the complete indicator unit. Thanks
  7. Hi Gareth Car has been used everyday so i don't think the battery is a problem but i will test this anyway. Ok so the compressor is the first area to look at are there any ways of testing the compressor to see if this is the fault? Duncan
  8. Update - Bad news fault code has come back after a couple of weeks so i changed the swirl flap motor but still got the fault code. Is there a way to bypass this and leave the swirl flaps open and trick the system to think it is all ok? I maybe wrong but i am sure i read somewhere online this is possible and then the fault code goes away.
  9. Hi I need some help with a suspension fault on a 2007 Q7 i have the dreaded orange warning light on the dash, VCDS says electrical fault, the car runs fine suspension is at the correct heights and the adjustment on the MMI all works. Has anyone got any ideas on where i can start looking for the fault? Thanks
  10. Hi all I need some help with a problem i have with a lamp out warning light that constantly comes on to tell me there is a bulb out. All bulbs are working fine had it plugged into VCDS and it is indicating the drivers side mirror repeater is the problem but this is still working ok. Is this just a case of replacing the LED's in the mirror or is there another fix to sort this annoying problem. Thanks
  11. Just thought i would update the thread, looks like problem is fixed for now. After looking at the thread link and some other forum threads i found that the link arms from the swirl flap motors can start to wear in the ball joints, so i thought i would try this fix first. Bought a repair kit on Ebay for £26 but it is an upgraded kit with the full ball joint covered rather than the standard ones that have the back of the ball joint open i thought these may wear a bit more evenly. Popped the arms off of the swirl flap motors on both sides with long nose pliers and popped the new ones on took under 5 minutes, i kept fingers crossed that just doing this would fix it as there was a bit of play on the existing ones, engine management light out plugged into the diagnostic software and cleared the permanent codes coming up run for a few days and all fixed fingers crossed cheap fix, but time will tell if there are any other problems that flag up again on the diagnostics but you never know i am not normally this lucky!
  12. Thanks Steve Another question that i always get confused with it says bank 2, is this drivers side or passenger side so that i start looking at the correct side.
  13. I said in an earlier post i would feedback on the kit i bought. Ordered Thursday and arrived Saturday they do have a website but i got the kit on Ebay. I thought i would start with the Q7 i have that needed gas, kit comes with great instructions but i did have an issue and was not sure on something so rather than cause myself problem i waited until today and spoke to the company about it. GREAT support from them talked me through the whole process while i was with the car. I had to put in a leak stopper can first to seal the system only because the gas was so low you don't always need this (only seals the O rings) then i put the gas can on the system and it is perfect runs nice and cold and done in about 15-20 minutes. I don't normally leave reviews but this product and company are worth it, great product and really good support which is something you don't get nowadays. Not sure if i am allowed to put web links on so please remove if not the web address is http://www.aircontopup.com/ There are plenty of videos online for the products as well so you can see how it works.
  14. Hi all I have a 2007 Q7 that has sprung up a P2011 fault code with from what i can find online is “Intake manifold air control actuator / solenoid, bank 2 – open circuit What does this mean and is it an easy fix? Car is running fine so not sure if it is one i can leave for a bit or need to address it now. Thanks
  15. thanks John i will got through you advice
  16. Yes may as well. Will feed back on the home re gas kit once i have tried it
  17. Is there any way to test the pressure sensor? I am hoping to re-gas myself there are some decent looking kits online that have good reviews, buy the kit to start which is gas, leak stopper and the regulator for about £55 but then when you need to gas another car the cost is around £17 for the gas as i then already have the regulator. i just wanted to give the system a check first to make sure i am not wasting money for the gas to come out the other side or something more sinister like a compressor problem, i am sure the system just needs gas as i get cold air for a bit.
  18. Ok thanks Steve Does it need a VAGCOM system or will any system reset it ?
  19. Hi 2007 Q7 - i bought it with 2 keys but they are just turn in the lock keys not the keyfob type so have to lock and unlock on the key and put the key in the ignition quickly or the alarm goes off. Is there anyone in the Southampton/ Hampshire area that can supply and code a keyfob, i have spoken to a few companies and for some reason you say Q7 and they won't touch it. I have found a company in Leicester that say they can do it no problem for around £70-£80 but it is a 2 hour drive. Thanks
  20. I had an awful problem with water flooding the passenger footwell of a 2007 Q7 a bit of research online and there is a bung plug that gets clogged up, simple to fix wheel off remove some of the arch liner (about 4 star screws) on the bulkhead side of the car and you can get to the rubber bung plug pulled this out and an unbelievable amount of water came pouring out i would guess at 3-4 litres looking at the garage floor, cleaned the bung plug which was blocked and pulled some leaves out of the hole, bung back in and wheel arch liner and water leak now fixed there is also one on the drivers side i think so will tackle this next just in case this side is blocked as well.
  21. Hi all I need some advice on the air con on a 2008 A3. When the car is started i get a bit of cold air for about ten minutes and then it goes warm, is this just a case of needing re-gassing or are there other things i need to check? I did read on another post about the red lights on the dash mine has the air con light on and the Econ light on is this correct? Not sure if it makes any difference. Thanks Duncan
  22. i think from the other research i have done it may need to be reset on a VCDS system although i have seen A3's being reset on some you tube videos wouldn't normally both me but i am looking to sell the car
  23. all sorted it was a loose plug gave it a clean and job done easier than i thought it would be
  24. Yes that is quite possible i did have to push some stuff out of the way to get the filter out - now you have said that when i was putting the filter back in there was what it thought was a static type crack from somewhere close to the filter i did not think any more but now you have said that i wonder, is this connected to a fuse somewhere for this part. Any to ask maybe a silly question what does the temp send plug look like i assume it is near to the oil filter?
  25. Hi all i have a 2008 A3 but for some reason the temperature gauge has stopped working any ideas on where to look for the issue the rest of the dash is working ok just the temp gauge not working. Is there a separate fuse just for this gauge, fuses are always my first port of call. Otherwise are there any other things i can test to see where the fault is. Not sure if it is related in anyway but i changed the oil filter and then the temp gauge stopped working i think! I am sure it was working before the filter change might not be related at all but thought i would mention it. Thanks
