Is this the ajpam that you replace because the batteries die ? It occasionally makes a quiet chirp

Hi all I have a A4 that has a alarm issue , keeps going off but only the lights and not the siren. Not fussed about a alarm so the question is can I just disconnect the unit and will the car still start and run etc Thanks Tony
