  1. I have had my Stop-Start coded out (via a third-party) using VCDS so that it does not come on automatically the car is started.
  2. I can pass on two pieces of advice given to me. 1) Don't do short journeys in a diesel. 2) Use a high-quality fuel. I was advised to use Shell V-Power. You are fortunate in having an Adblue car as apparently they are less prone to DPF blockages.
  3. Are you sure that is not normal behaviour?
  4. Too much compared to what?
  5. Check whether the air suspension is set in comfort or dynamic mode. The ride should be good on 18" wheels.
  6. When emtuning put all the LEDs into my A6 (£100 for 19 LED's,fitted), only the reversing lights needed to be coded (to eliminate the bulb failure warning).
  7. Trupesh at emtuning has fitted a complete set of LED interior lights to my A6 and a previous A5. No extra wiring or resistors are required with his bulbs. He is so quick at changing over the 19 bulbs - including reversing lights - that it is quicker to drive up from London to Wellingborough and back than to do it myself. LED lights transform the interior. He is a lovely chap as well.
  8. I have had this done on my car by someone in North London with access to a laptop and VCDS. Any independent with access to VCDS should be able to do this for you.
  9. It looks like the panel for headlamp washers to fitted to cars with Bi-Xenon headlights. Would be fitted to S-line cars as standard but to SE only as an extra. iT LOOKS LIKE THE PANLE FOR THE HEADLIGHT WASHERS FITTED TO CARS WITH bI-xENON LIGHTS
  10. Be aware that postal charges have shot up after Brexit. I was quoted €70 for a set of brake disks from Czechoslovakia and I have just paid $35 dollars to get a hardback book needed for work delivered from Germany or the USA.
  11. Speak to the Audi Dealer in Basingstoke!
  12. I cannot tell you about the visual clues. However once you have homed in on your desired car, you will be able to tell from the V5. There are various websites that will confirm the engine size for a small fee. 204 BHP 159 gm CO2 245 BHP 165 gm CO2 218 BHP 145 gm CO2 272 BHP 149 gm CO2 From the outside you would know my car is an SE, but you would not be able to tell what engine it had. In my personal experience, no-one has ever knowingly falsely described the specification of their car. Hope this helps ...... I did read of one A5 where a clerk somewhere had failed to register the car correctly. It was sold Approved Used as a quattro but only had 2-WD. Once this error was detected the dealer took the car back.
  13. Assuming that your wheel alignment is spot-on and that you are running at the correct pressures, then Michelin usually give the longest life. Pilot Sport 4 probably with a XL 101 load factor. How would you describe your car usage (high mile commuting etc.) and driving style?
  14. Talk to Darkside Developments. They have specific experience with BiTDi's (they own one) and have the facilities to develop custom maps (for mpg only).
  15. Hi Stuart, Thanks for that interesting information. Not what the brochures would have one believe!
  16. APR Tuning have a good reputation and have a dealer in Walsall. MRC and AMD are also good.
  17. Another 55 kg of weight, I fear. Don't ask where it comes from - apart from the air suspension plumbing and compressor
  18. I have been using Whetstone Audi formany years.
  19. Just got back from Sheffield - up and down the M1. Cruising at 70-75 with 15 miles through the 60 mph roadworks on the way up plus a significant rural detour on the way down after the M1 shut in both directions today! We were averaging 43-44 mpg driving carefully. Mine is an older BiTDi for which no emissions fix is offered. It is quite possible that a remap would help fuel consumption. Be wary of a remap if you intend to use Audi servicing as some dealers will use a remap to wriggle out of a warranty claim. I would talk to your dealer about the fuel consumption issue first. Hope this helps ... John
  20. As a rough guide, the offset should be within 5mm of the original. Beyond that and one is changing the steering geometry, but I have no idea whether you would feel that through the power-assisted steering. I have moved from a set of 20" to set a set of 17" Audi wheels - in other words an extra 1.38 inches (up from 3.5" to 4.88") of tyre sidewall. I feel that the smaller tyres give a lesser thump when traversing potholes, beside being less vulnerable to kerbing. The improvement may be greater on your Allroad with air suspension. The wheel/tyre combo was purchased from eBay seller "germanwheelsdirect" in Northern Ireland. The 20" wheels look fantastic (and are great for the showroom guys), but I am sure the Audi engineers intended the A6 to ride on 17" or 18" wheels.
  21. Hi Tim, Does your car have the "post-Dieselgate" emissions update? This might account for some of the variance in mpg. I will drive from London to Sheffield over the weekend and will report back on the fuel consumption. I expect to get around 35 mpg.. Regards, John
  22. It is another branch of Group1 Automotive in Whetstone (Barnet). Group1 are huge in the USA and have been acquisitive over here. If you buy an Approved Used Audi (or VW) I have found that the Customer Services team are always ready to act as intermediaries. There were most helpful when my wife's Jetta lunched its engine (a known fault on the particular motor) at 55,000 miles. With a customer services interaction a gentle approach helps. It did not help with Peugeot - and I will not buy a French car ever again. Having said that, a friend has put over 750,000 miles on 2 Citroen C5's and loves them.
  23. The A6 Allroad came with standard adjustable-height Air Suspension, which gives a more comfortable ride - especially if you try to muck it up again with 35 section tyres on 20" alloys. . The disadvantage is that it is something else to go wrong. Adjustable suspension was an option on the A4 Allroad. I am a loyal customer at my local main Audi dealer and found the support for issues with my Audi Approved Used car to be excellent.
  24. You can ask for the name of the dealer where the service was carried out and then call them to get an idea of the service history (which is kept on an Audi database rather than a service booklet).
  25. The reason I said engine mounts is that you said it smooths out as you go faster at which point the engine will not rock about so much. If it is gearbox, take it an ZF gearbox specialist.
