Adblu Control Unit for car year/engine size
Stevey Y replied to SEAN MG's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi did you have this battery coded, if not the BEM will continue to charge at the same rate as the old battery which in record time will cook the new battery and kill it stone dead, seen a few like this in my time and its hard to convince people of the importance of battery coding, half an amp is not an unusual amount and if the battery is in good condition its sustainable, the batteries are massive, damage wise 10-11 volts will kill it. the Adblue control unit is b@ll@cks they either work or they don't as for powering down the whole car never does this as there are alarms, central locking. infotainment all in a low power sleep mode until you hit the unlocking button. -
Adblu Control Unit for car year/engine size

Hi the power spike is always there thats how the car checks its own electrics for things like diodes that have been fitted to airbag connections to shut the airbag light, myself I would be looking at the battery, what brand and has it been coded to the car properly, these vehicles are very twitchy about the kind of battery used and as an example my A6 had a new Yuasa battery just before the lockdown and sat for the first three weeks before I drove it anywhere. Hi from a newbie - Changing Glow plugs
Stevey Y replied to David smithson's topic in Audi A6 (C6) Forum
Hi they are not that difficult if you observe the following you will need a deep socket and a low poundage/NM torque wrench and a can of plus gas, get the engine nice and hot and using the torque wrench set at no more than 30nm undo the plug if it wont move at that setting apply a liberal dose of plus gas and leave to soak for twenty mins, go on to the next plug with luck they will all give a little click and come loose [Do not force the plugs] as if you snap one they have to be removed by a professional removal tool, mucho deniro, when replacing coat the threads in a smear of Aluminium paste making sure not to get any on the heating element, when tightening the new plugs don't go more than 28nm. Newbie help please. Coolant and heater blower issue
Stevey Y replied to macjamA3's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi the heater matrix is possibly blocked or the thermostat is faulty [temp sensor] on the thermostat, I would be taking it back, I hope you didn't pay for all the other parts. Steve. -
Hi Cliff its not a LI-ION battery LION is the brand and believe me they aint any good. Steve.

Hi what I was trying to point out is your car is petrol and is not fitted with glow plugs, you can't have a valid fault code for that which doesn't exist therefore it suggests its come from a generic scanner which I have often found to be the case, whereas manufacturer specific readers are often far more accurate. Steve.
-
Hi yes spend your money on an OBD Eleven reader then you can look at what you want whenever you want on your phone and not become a victim of overcharging garages, you will be able to tell them what the problem is. Steve.
-
Hi not quite getting this, you mention glow plugs and in the next breath its coil packs? if its petrol it wont have glow plugs thats probably a random code thrown up on your diagnostics. Steve.
-
Right Quit panicking and read through the posters answers, as Rybrook pointed out you need a code reader to put the battery back into sync with the car OBD Eleven is a good choice its reasonable and does the job, you don't need a code as you can use the old one that appears on the scanner just change the last three digits when it accepts it a slide bar comes up that says write slide to the right and it informs the new battery to the ECU, why you bought a Lion battery is beyond me, they are absolute non cheap garbage you can have so much more for a few quid extra, in my lifetime I have had so many problems with this brand I avoid them like covid. Steve.

Hi its either the temperature sensor that controls the fan or most likely the fan control unit mounted on the fan assembly in front of the radiator. Steve.

Hi if as Gareth said you invest in a trim removal kit the job is fairly straight forward start at the top and work your way round down the right side, the cover has a push in locking system at the bottom so once the top and sides are free lift the cover up and out, depending on the model some of the covers are glued to the rear lumbar adjustment this can be removed from the metal plate with a bit of persistence and re attached with velcro, heat the plastic with a heat gun but you have to keep the the heat moving whilst pushing gently from the inside with the plastic handle of a screwdriver or similar, did a lot of this with bumpers during the eighties they took a bit of time as they were a lot thicker but the fact is ABS plastic will always try and go back to its moulded shape. PS any clips you need to replace are on Ebay at a tenth of the price from the dealer. Steve.
-
Hi its all dependent on the type of engine you have, there is a setting on VCDS but I can't pin it down because I don't have your car to plug in to, therefore can you supply the information to narrow it down, also check the vacuum pipe to the unit as this can be the original problem as any loss in the air circuit will cause problems. Steve.
-
Hi OBD eleven pro, if you go for the VCDS as I did its expensive and wont read anything past 2019 because of the SFD firewall system on the later cars, therefore I had to buy OBD eleven as I now own a 21 plate passat with the SFD but I tried it out on a few cars including my accountants 2017 Q5 and it read everything, look on their site and choose what suits you. Steve.

Hi to be honest you can't tell what a batteries condition is with a multimeter, best go to Halfords and get it tested under load I.E, everything switched on lights, blower, heated screens, if the battery is remotely the original its knackered, you say the ABS pump was recoded with what?, was it your unit repaired or a new unit. Steve.
-
Hi should be able to do it in basic settings, but I will look at my VCDS Monday and try and work this out for you but in saying this I have not heard many glowing reports of aftermarket manifolds. Steve.
-
Hi pretty straight forward if you look at the second picture the tab in front of you has no locking hook, that is the position tab which is lower and wider than the rest so if you find the reciprocal slot on the vent once located it should just push in. Steve.
-
Hi please let us know how you get on.
-
Hi yes the new unit has to be adapted so that its new values can be learned, was tan aftermarket/second hand manifold? Steve.
-
Hi for all you folks out there with Adblue tank problems mainly caused by crystals in the system, level sensors and delivery pipes, had a good long look at this product and what it does and its been very successful when used on lorries and is now available for cars, adding approx £11-14 on to your adblue fill its still cheaper than a new system that you can only get from Audi. Steve.

PS you don't have to be a rocket scientist to operate OBDEleven its a cheap diagnostic platform that works on an Android phone, I bought one and it cuts out the Monkeys and bolt on merchants and makes adaptation a piece of pixx and will save you a fortune, I have just changed and re coded my accountants battery on his Q5 it took an hour the unbolting is hardest as the battery is at the back of the boot, registering it took ten minuets. Steve.
-
Hi disconnecting the BEM wont recalibrate it, when you re adapt a new unit you sit in the car or near the engine bay and if you listen carefully you can hear the butterfly moving in the new body as the ECU commands about ten different positions according to its learned strategy, once the body has complied it is then registered within the ECU as correct therefore how does disconnecting the battery energy monitor do the adaptation, get it adapted first and it may well save you a pedal sensor and having the same problem when fitted. Steve.
-
Hi are you sure your VCDS is up to date as as when it can't connect to the car at all it normally throws up Can gateway unable to communicate. Steve.
-
Hi I don't think its a feature as all yellow warning lights should extinguish when the car is started, this should have been picked up on the PDI. Steve.
-
Hi did they re adapt the new throttle body as without that it wont work properly anytime soon, if they did it may be the sensor on the throttle pedal. Steve.

Hi anything Bosch/Hella you can't go wrong as most of their stuff was used O.E., I had Hella boost and Dpf pressure sensors when I changed mine and you could see where the extra money went, to quote one of Magnets favourite sayings, buy once buy right it is true good advice. Steve.
