Hi if you do the sums it should be on its third belt by rule of 80k or 5years, you can't tell by looking at it and Dayco is aftermarket premium the OE is INA, but from my analysis of the photos it doesn't look that new therefore from a personal perspective I would change it absent any documentation to prove otherwise, when you consider the alternative of the repair bill if it lets go a replacement is a lot cheaper. Steve.

Hi if you tell us what you are trying to fix maybe someone on here has had the same problem and may be able to point you to the right place, always found the owners hand book is a good guide. Steve.

Heater plug flashing intermittently while driving
Stevey Y replied to Annemarie's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi you will have to get the car read for DTCs to get the answer, its normally emissions related. Steve. -
Hi I really would not trust that bunch, I put my reg in to see what they came up with by way of options so, apparently my car is a Mercedes saloon and not an A6 Avant so that prompts the thought what else could they get wrong. Steve.

Hi its quite likely the fuel rail pressure sensor is knackered and the spring inside has become weak and won't hold the pressure so it just flaps backwards and forwards which is the noise you are hearing, they are simple to replace and not that expensive to buy, use the part number on your original unit on eBay I have no doubt there are loads on there, just make sure you leave the car a few hours before replacement to allow the rail to de pressurise. Steve.

Hi I don't think you are going to get many takers for this one as they changed the software from late 2019 as well as the diagnostic platform, IDOS the latest version of which asks each element for a reciprocation code and if it don't get it will block that part of the program, so being as the whole system is connected to the Audi mainframe so head office always knows whats going on with the car they sold you. Steve.

HI Eric it won't matter how many people look at it the fact remains that they are not compatible with your car unless you get an auto electrician to look at it with a view to changing the wiring, have you contacted the company that supplied the units to ask if they were intended as plug in and play, I am fishing in the dark here so do you have a link for the supplier and where did you buy them from, my guess from the advert you posted that they are Chinese. Steve.

Hi the xenon lights are shuttered so main beam is facilitated by a signal which causes the shutter to lower from dipped to main beam through the same lense as you say the other light is the adaptive part and unless you have a can bus link cable I can't see that the new light will work especially as you are already getting light error codes without rewiring and then you have the problem that the lighting control module won't recognise the new light units, these are DEFINITLEY NOT plug in and play. Steve.

Hi you need to post pictures of the front of the headlight instead of the two plug connectors on the back, otherwise scant see what the difference is between the lense arrangement. Steve.

Hi you can see from your photo that the circular bush is tearing the plastic collar away from its mounting, its had it, I did mention it was a grotty job but is doable, I did the same and removed the subframe got the old bushes out by cutting the nylon collar with a hacksaw blade then cleaned the surface of the mounting hole and gave the hole a good coating of silicon grease, I used a large jubilee clip to compress the bush about 5mm from the entry edge once I had it started and it was in down to the clip I moved the clip again and beat it in with the rubber mallet I used on the first stage, once its 10mmm or so in just get a flat piece of wood and slowly tap it the rest of the way in, it takes time unless you fork out for the bush tool which aint cheap. Steve.

Bilstein B16 Damptronic V B16 PSS10 on Audi S4 Avant B9
Stevey Y replied to robjames's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi the Damptronic kit is probably the best option as any Bilstein shocks are a serious upgrade on standard shocks the reason the kit won't lower it anymore is that its designed to work in sync with what is already a factory lowered suspension set up, further lowering may lead to problems that are out of the standard range of the castor and camber adjustments which causes premature bush wear on the suspension links. Steve. -
Hi looks like a fair bit of wire changing, who did you buy them from? and have you got a picture of the new units against the old [from the front]. Steve.

Happy Fathers Day Steve. Steve.

Audi A3 2010 petrol 1598cc will not accelerate
Stevey Y replied to MarcD's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi most likely an oxygen sensor or the MAP sensor, recently had the same symptoms on my car, yes its diesel but the principles are the same so I changed the MAP/MAF sensors and its all good. if it was low fuel pressure you would get a code. Steve. -
Hi the only way is on VCDS that will also highlight any wonky motion sensors. Steve,

Hi the LED units work completely different from the standard lights therefore whoever sold you the aftermarket kit should be abs to supply the Canbus bridge cables that fit between the power plug and the light unit, this fools the lighting control module in to thinking you have fitted standard light units, I have found lots of second hand units on the net but I think its more of a case of you wanted LEDs as an upgrade. Steve.

Hi the easiest and cheapest way of curing it is to buy some chrome handle covers on eBay, or the other way is get hold of a mobile smart repair guy and get him to respray the handle they can do that without removal. Steve.

Bad Oil Leak, Can't locate... - Driving me MAD!!
Stevey Y replied to Almurray42's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi Al it all boils down to the ship and the halfpenny of tar, it just makes a better job of the head even if you get the seats cut and lapped in theres not normally any need to buy new rocker gear or valves unless the existing valves are pitted, this will ensure that with the hone and rings it runs like new. Steve. -
Bad Oil Leak, Can't locate... - Driving me MAD!!
Stevey Y replied to Almurray42's topic in Audi A3 (8P) Forum
Hi Al if the big ends look okay you are in with a shout, if you can get a reasonable cylinder head used that what I would go for and just re cut the valve seats lap them in and with all the rest you are doing you should get a perfectly serviceable engine, I would also suggest a new oil pump. -
Hi why not try paintless dent removal if they only need pushing out, these people do an excellent job for about £50 per dent I have used my local one a few times he is an Indian chap known as Singh the Ding. Steve.

Hi you will have to get the car scanned for codes it may well be the mechatronics unit playing up. Steve.

Fault code P200200 Particulate Trap Bank 1
Stevey Y replied to James397's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi if its P2002 code its the low pressure EGR cooler going south how many miles has it covered and what is the engine code. Steve. -
Hi, NO you need to put the car in to service lining mode with VCDS/OBD and make sure you have a battery connected to the jump posts under the bonnet otherwise if your battery is as old as the car and the voltage drops it will fry the calliper motors. Steve.

Hi I don't know what the exchange rate is but you might be better off sourcing a replacement on eBay as I am sure it won't come to that!, I get my alternators done locally and a refurb with a three year guarantee is only about £350, do some research and find out if there is anyone that does reconditioning in your neck of the woods. Steve.
