  1. Hi what I am trying to put across is yes I realise its the washers you want but the only thing you can do is contact the manufacturer of the body and ask them if they can supply the washers as a courtesy, failing that its a new unit, just a random question but why did you dismantle the unit in the first place. Steve.
  2. Hi if its only a slight bump its easier and more economical to get the damage heated from the back popped out and a splash of paint, I did this with my rear bumper its cheaper than £560 for a new one and its still got to be painted.
  3. Hi it was right on the first go its a throttle housing, as for the spacers I can't answer that one but if you can get the part number off of the unit you can probably buy another unit from eBay for sub £200, if you have a fair amount of milage on the car changing the unit will do it a world of favours, BTW did they trot out the same old information that diesels don't have a throttle valve, they do, otherwise they would never run. Steve.
  4. Hi I have come across this many times with different vehicles, Ford for example can be read with just about any generic software for codes with varying degrees of success until you go into them and start trying to alter protocols for various functions then the ECU goes into protection mode an shuts down the Can Gateway and enables the immobiliser to protect the car because it thinks its being [jarked] stolen, with the manufacturer specific software it recognises the entry elements for the Can Gateway and won't mind you fiddling with it, excellent intuition unplugging the MAF because when it was rebooted it gave it something else to worry about, your system is very good but for reading codes on different vehicles, my garage I use has about three different Snap-On units but if he ever needs to readapt anything that is a bit exotic on a Ford he uses Forscan. Steve.
  5. Hi no re coding as its the same battery you only re code with a new unit to let the BEM know its got a new battery and not to charge at the same rate as the worn one, had a word with a mate of mine and he said 20 mins should do it and make sure you leave a door open as sometimes they can lock all the doors which will be a problem, with regard to the OBD port it can take exception to certain types of software used to interrogate it and cut the communication to prevent any intrusion into the ECU. Steve.
  6. Hi if you can post a picture of the light that would be helpful, it could be that like most of the later models any make that you do have to remove the whole unit to replace the bulbs. Steve
  7. Hi try removing the battery earth for a couple of hours it may well re boot but don't try and do this task on that scanner, its not a rubbish unit, on the contrary its a very good generic unit, to perform what tasks you wish you need a manufacturer specific software VCDS/OBD Eleven. Steve.
  8. Hi just shows you, like all totalitarian schemes its beginning to unravel because it shows Mr Average has an opinion and so does his wallet, I think they really believe in a future utopia where no one can fix their own car so therefore will be at the mercy of all dealerships who can charge what they like and the customer has no other choice, thats what I love about these forums as they give previously unheard information to an audience in a public area, example the poster that decided to change his own air filter rather than pay Audi to do it and armed with a YouTube video and screw driver did a first class job of replacement, small battle wins in a larger war, me personally would rather take night school on flower arranging than repairing electric vehicles as electric vehicles have no soul, there will always be the band of delusional types that believe that the only way forward is to use dealerships and pay their prices, don't get me wrong we all have to get parts from them occasionally as it's the only place you can get a new part [patents] and as long as you dive into Boots before and buy a large tube of Anusol it makes their prices less painful. Steve.
  9. Hi Ladies/Gents, got bored trolling through the net looking at used cars and came across a couple of sites for second hand Audi e tron GTs, their are hundreds for sale with at most 8k on the clock 2021/2022 models offered by Audi dealers for up to £15,000 less than they were new, something is badly wrong when you get this amount of new cars with a residual thats dropping faster than a Gary Glitter popularity poll, when you consider the second hand prices of nasty fossil fuelled Audis which are going up on a weekly basis this would lead you to believe that Joe public with what is known as real money is voting with his feet, and subject to a conversation in the cab this week with the CEO of Ford Europe apparently Dunton is going all out on a Hybrid system that is driven by a Hydrogen Fuel Cell engine linked to an electric motor, Honda, Kia,Huyundai are all doing the same, I honestly believe that in fifty years time it will all be that way. Steve.
  10. Hi that would suggest a seal gone inside the box and contaminating the friction plate as when oil gets hot it mists could do with getting someone to look underneath to see if there is any oil leaking from the bottom of the gearbox where it joins the engine. Steve.
  11. Hi sounds more like contamination oil normally, if it only does it on cold mornings when you start and first drive it its probably condensation from the day before my A6 does it but not when the ambient temperature is higher in the mornings. Steve.
  12. Hi try Lucas power steering fix, it won't fix the wear in the pump but it will shut it up, used it on my cabs a good few times it even stops any leaks on the rack, when you change the fluid you are supposed to leave the cap off of the reservoir and while stationary turn the wheel from lock to lock about ten times to get the air out then leave it overnight with the cap off to let it all out, also check the reservoir while running if the fluid is like a fire hose inside the reservoir the filter is knackered and will cause the fluid to foam which is air it should be a gentle swirl. Steve.
  13. Hi done my A6 which is the same, loads of how to videos on YouTube and as long as you have a halfway decent tool kit its pretty simple and just requires patience. Steve.
  14. Hi never owned one myself but my accountant recently had a real yearning to own one so I suggested he went and had a word with the garage I use when something is above my pay grade, he has fixed practically every Audi in the range [except electric he refuses to even look at them], anyway my guy explained the atrocities visited on the cars he has fixed including the poor guy that spent over a grand just in suspension parts to try and get the savage tyre wear down, apparently they are all the same so the accountant trolled off and bought a late Q5 S line which as per the garage owners recommendation has no tyre wear anomalies and is good all round reliable, he is well chuffed. Steve.
  15. Hi yes Diesel engine, all the 2.0 litre models around that time CNHA,DETA etc. are fitted with them, allegedly they should last 100k but I have first hand knowledge of some that have gone at 30k. Steve.

Hi if you go to Halfords and buy a battery they also have the facilities to re code it to the car, come to that most high end independents can do exactly the same as now most of them have the new kit out that pairs any battery with any car, I did my mates BMW with an Autel unit we borrowed from a garage 900yds from where he lives. Steve.
  17. Hi its been a running battle with these things they are a disgrace mine went last year and Audi wanted £1700 to do it, they only sell the part with the new valve attached £700 or there about, see if you can find a VAG specialist to give you a quote, an oe part with the valve is on eBay at the moment for around £500, the part number is 04L 512 For the cooler and 04L 131 501 B for the valve. Steve.
  18. Hi about the best two are YARA from Halfords or Redex, cheaper at Tool station, the Yara is the best and Halfords are doing a deal at the moment three 3.5 litre pouches for £18.99. Steve.
  19. Female torx socket loads on eBay, female because the bolt is male. Steve.
  20. Hi none really just the usual wear and tear items brakes, battery, servicing, occasional addition of a DPF cleaner in with the fuel should keep it nice and clean if you do a lot of short journeys and don't buy supermarket fuel as it kills the engine in record time. Steve.
  21. Hi unless you have a code for a blocked EGR leave that bit alone as explained in previous post its not a diy job and needs a comprehensive strip down, the only reason for no end result to this problem is that like a lot of the new members the poster finds the info they need and never return. Steve.
  22. Hi Mike we all have had a good laugh about some posts you have made, most memorable is your parcel being left between your buns, brings light relief to a serious or not post.
  23. Hi you would need the wiring loom from the same model, new switchgear with the apropriate switches possibly a steering squab and body control module, then you have to have the means to code it all, then you need loads of hours to do it, personally I would buy bigger right hand boots its cheaper LOL. Steve.
  24. Hi Vpower is excellent but expensive Shell/Esso standard fuel is good when used with an octane booster and is cheaper, don't go anywhere near E10 as on older cars its toxic !Removed!. Steve.
  25. Hi if you take the breather hose off of the PCV valve there is always going to be oil but you should get a flow of air/gas as well as the oil it does it the minute you start the engine the residual oil you noticed was originally vapour, it won't do it from cold as there is no hot vaporised oil to suck out, I think you are safe to assume its the PCV collapsed as its only a piece of rubber inside the unit which either splits or goes rock hard and won't channel the gas out of the crankcase therefore the gas is forced past the rings in to the combustion chamber, presto, blue smoke. Steve.
