  1. Hi you offer up the bulb to the holder with the writing on the back of the bulb casing so you can read it then tilt the bulb casing about thirty degrees to the left then with light pressure toward the light unit twist the bulb in you should feel it locate in the mounting, when it does twist the bulb to its straight position, it should lock unless you bent something pulling it out, getting it out is the same only reversed. Steve.
  2. Hi you will be fine, they won't do that again, believe me once properly fitted it will be bullet proof like the ones on my A6 I use it as a cab and because I am pre-booked only they come over and yank the handles like crazy to get in which is no good when the doors are all locked from the inside, 155,000 miles and numerous attempts for unauthorised entry I have not lost a handle yet, no booking, no ride. Steve.
  3. Hi there should be a plastic grip brake under the bumper skin the lugs break off you can buy replacements on eBay which bolt or rivet onto the metal. Steve.
  4. Hi the only benefit from what they have done so far is the car milage isn't going up but that won't help you with the loss of your vehicle. Steve.
  5. Hi normally you take off the disc and calliper with the calliper mounting, this then exposes the bearing and dust plate and the mounting screws are visible. Steve.
  6. Hi much as I loath to say this it sounds like a dealer/IDOS job as this system runs a diagnostic and then tells the idiot running it how to step by step repair it, all part of the new A.I. strategy, I am assuming you won't be paying for the trip to Audi. Steve.
  7. Hi the LED units are hell and have to go through rigorous tests by the light control module to be accepted as there is no real manual adjustment its all fly by wire, thats why they cost three times as much new, only other question is the unit O.E. Genuine if not the only way is get a can bus bridge cable which fools the light module into thinking its the original unit. Steve.
  8. Hi do you know what system did the recode as I sure from 2017 on it will require the Audi/VW IDOS system. Steve.
  9. Hi everything is unique with them even if they are aware of a problem, tell them you want to back the vehicle as unfit for purpose that should draw a response, ask them if they supply stickers saying dear thief please open gently. Steve.
  10. Hi I think this does reflect the views of most of the forum, I think everyone who contributes regularly to this forum is sick of dealing with space cadets who never reply properly or let you know the outcome, he seems to know it all therefore why does he need us, we definitely don't need him, if he had got his answer straight away he would have cleared off and never been heard of again, in retrospect the post was bordering on illiterate thats why I try not to answer these the same as most people, why headbut a wall. Steve.
  11. Hi precisely, it won't work in reverse and give a warning when there is no weight, you have to have weight on it to push the two contact layers together the bottom layer has the sensor wires in it the top layer contains the earth side which triggers the alarm and if its that saggy its like the bottom is running away from the top. Steve.
  12. Hi have a look at the lower front rear arm bushes common fault. Steve.
  13. Much as as hate to point this out the pressure pad only works when the seatbelt is unplugged and the pad senses weight over two kilos, bag of shopping, when the belt pin is fastened this cancels out the pad sensor in the seat cushion and as the belt clip has overall command of the other functions in the seats electronics ie drivers side won't release the handbrake automatically unless the belt is plugged in. Steve.
  14. Hi which side is it, either way its the bit that the belt plugs in to give it a blast wit contact cleaner whilst working the red plunger up and down then give it some WD40 if that won't work then chaste wire that runs down the side of it to the junction box under the seat unplug it and clean that with electrical cleaner, that should cure it if not its a new seatbelt stalk. Steve.
  15. Hi it probably needs a fan control unit, the silver box on the fan pack, some you can just replace others come as the whole lot fans and control boxes, get the numbers off of your unit and look around, the other thing to look at is the coolant temp sensor as that can cause the same problem, best policy get it scanned for faults first. Steve.
  16. Hi its probably a fault in the wiring loom from the tank which is fairly easy to replace. Steve.
  17. Hi if you can pump the pedal up its the master cylinder around £160 from Audi, where the rest of the money comes from I can't imagine its only a three hour job, if I was you I would definitely get a few other quotes based on what is the fault, I do hate this when the garages get inventive with pricing. Steve.
  18. Hi the rotting of the tubes is caused by Bi Metal corrosion unfortunately steel and alloy don't get on. Steve.
  19. Hi its the calliper easy enough to replace and not to expensive, you will also need a new set of pads and a flexible hose as they collapse inside I had it on my car a few months ago. Steve.
  20. Hi as said the best way is get underneath and get the cover off to see where its coming from, beading or not its not normal. Steve.
  21. Hi the only way you will find a clue to what is going on is to have the car scanned with VCDS or similar. Steve.
  22. Hi the slave and bearing are all one piece the slave is about £100 on eBay, genuine part, then you will need the seal that goes in the middle of it, Mark is right its nothing like any other car I have worked on as the driveshaft runs in the middle of the flywheel edge so when you remove the driveshaft you have to replace that seal as well and to remove the old seal you have to remove the diff housing as the seal is fitted inside that, yes its a monumental task I didn't do mine but the guy that did it is a friend and I was there for nine hours on cleaning and tea detail so I saw the whole process including when the clutch master cylinder wouldn't pressure up, if you buy these cars there are a good few items that aint cheap but shopping around gets it cheaper, like my mates MK2 Escort clutch £140 but for anything later those days are long gone.
  23. Hi the only way is to buy a new starter based on your VIN, my guess is its an eight tooth dog gear. Steve.
  24. Hi it would be very helpful if you can find out what the code was that came up, my hunch is it was p2002 which is particle filter bank 1, thats the EGR cooler which is notorious for blocking and no amount of regeneration will cure that, what happens is the car regenerates as normal but the cooler stays blocked, try giving it a bottle of Wynns/Redex DPF cleaner it should alleviate the problem for a bit but the dealer needs to re scan it and give you the code as well as check the soot load of the DPF which should be under 60 grams. Steve.
  25. Hi, to begin with is it diesel/petrol?, also what do you mean by emissions control light EML or DPF symbol, the easiest solution is get it scanned and come back with the codes. Steve.
