  1. Hi its a Hydro mount for the engine, these are oil filled and when the rubber reservoir deteriorates they start to loose oil, yours does not look terminal yet but it will need changing as they only get worse and you will experience a lot of engine vibration. Steve.
  2. Hi Mann filters are from the same factory as Hengst and Mahle and usually are only purchased by those with a passion for badge engineering and a desire to spend to much money, Hengst are fitted O.E.
  3. Hi Bosch,Hengst,Blueprint,Mahle, not used any others but these seem to work very well on my high milage cab. Steve.
  4. Hi chances are its the battery especially if its the original there is no point in paying for tests as on a private vehicle the battery will only probably last four years, stop start function restriction is normally the early sign of battery failure and the brake servo restriction won't have anything to do with that, my battery is over five years old but being as I use the car as a taxi it never gets less than a hundred miles of charging a day, living on borrowed time, probably. Steve.
  5. Hi get the gearbox service done first chances are its bad oil or a blocking filter, its the cheapest route but before any of this get it scanned for error codes. Steve.
  6. Hi the only problem I can see with the retrofit system is you will have to find a good way of hiding the ballast boxes and wiring as if you have not a very liberal mot tester [rarer than rocking horse manure] you will fail on sight, no washers and levelling as well, try the Philips dipped beam bulbs first. Steve.
  7. Hi could be roll bar bushes they might be a bit cruddy the rubber they use is absolute garbage, changing mine soon for Powerflex poly bushes .
  8. Hi try Philips Diamond vision bulbs they are far brighter than standard the retrofit labs conversion works superbly but only if you have the fish eye lenses if you try and fit the whole kit it involves trying to bore accurate holes in the existing reflector which is very hit and miss the other thing is you would have to fit washer ports that work and self levelling units to the suspension to comply with current mot regs, other than that try and source some bi xenon units which will involve recoding and another light control module which will also need recoding as well again the headlamp washers and levelling devices, try the suggested bulbs its cheaper and a worthwhile upgrade. Steve.
  9. Nope wrong dimensions, all the spacings for the driven pressure plate and pressure plate will be different especially the release bearing throw out, distance it has to travel to release the clutch. Steve.
  10. No worries there I have a Mac Airbook, Macs don't get viruses never had any trouble with that in five years of ownership, it tells me which are not safe sites if I am looking for something and I am not quite sure what your using but you shouldn't have to give permission to download something from a safe website like this one, so in essence you are trying to say this websites firewalls are rubbish so you can't trust it, I think you might be better served with an up to date operating system or a Mac. Steve.
  11. Hi Gareth your right about taking the future for granted, old cab colleagues have been dropping like flies, I am now working on the theory that past fifty we all have one foot in the grave and the other foot on a big bar of soap. Steve.
  12. Hi Clifford you are not downloading anything what the guy has posted is a video that you just watch its the same as youtube, as far as I am aware this is a public platform and unless your computer is an Alan Turing MK2 Christopher you are in no danger, being as this forum checks for malevolence I am sure the appropriate malware protection is in place otherwise we would all have been screwed a long time ago. Steve.
  13. Hi get the car scanned for codes, it sort of helps with the guesswork situation if no codes then you have an uphill task. Steve.
  14. Hi thats better, does the parking brake still work?, with regard to item 1 I think thats in the boot and they are prone to corrosion through water ingress in to the boot, 2 is either a corroded connector, strip check connector and if there is no obvious signs of corrosion chase the wiring back and check for breakage. Steve.
  15. Hi either way it sounds like a load of scallops, anyone noticed the price of electric and the fact all milk float owners are paying twice as much for a charge, here it comes lads no monthly pay anymore just tokens for your food and electric, TOTAL CONTROL, the motor manufacturers like Lemmings are heading for the edge of the cliff based on the sound knowledge that they are going to build loads of nuclear power stations to support what they are producing, the fact that it takes ten years to build a nuclear power plant and the fact no one has started to build a new one yet seems to have escaped them, good idea lads create more electric freight train traffic on an already overloaded system, blackouts?, probably.
  16. Hi the heater is not in the tank fortunately and any competent garage can change it as its some pipework and a wiring plug and you need a four post ramp to get it airborne to Chas in the new pipework/wiring. Steve.
  17. Hi there is a calibration process for the brake switch you can find it on youtube, I can't open the link you gave as it won't let me in as refused to give consent for their data poaching activities so if you could actually publish the codes that would help. Steve.
  18. Hi there should be a switch on the centre console it should have P stamped on it, if you can publish the codes that would help a lot. Steve.
  19. Hi clear the codes first before diving in to the wiring, could just be corroded connectors on the rear calipers. Steve.
  20. Hi try eBay they have some exotic disc/pad combos for not too much money, any brand Blueprint ,Febi TRW,Bosch, Delphi, all good as they are E11/E9 marked. Steve.
  21. Hi its probably the clutch master cylinder as you say the car is difficult to get in to gear which would suggest the cylinder is not holding pressure and fluid is leaking back past the seals. Steve.
  22. Hi its probably the lift mechanism/regulator box, strip it out and replace, but before going to that trouble check the wiring in the rubber boot between the door and the body as you could have a broken wire or corrosion in the connector block
  23. Hi its probably because their code reader is generic and has to deal with most types of vehicle, although Snap on etc are expensive they are not manufacturer specific and will not give an interpretation of the code, it then gets more difficult as the manufacturers are now making codes generic which basically means it could be one of a few different sensors, but my best guess is the oxygen sensor as the symptoms you describe are virtually the same as mine were at around 80,000 miles and if your sensor has never been changed the likelihood of it being that is very high. Steve.
  24. Hi the oil in the throttle body would suggest a perforated boost hose normally the one that runs up to the throttle body. Steve.
  25. Hi I don't know what you used to get the code but VCDS tells you the generic coding but also tells you the sensor thats playing up but its my guess thats the culprit as the symptoms are too close to mine. Steve.
