  1. Hi sounds like a thermostat from the symptoms you describe, its a pretty straight forward change I doubt the heater matrix wants flushing but it certainly wont do any harm. Steve
  2. Hi it could well be the thermostat playing about the flow will be the same because of the bypass system if its only partially opening it may cause steam which vents through the expansion cap on the expansion tank. Steve.
  3. Hi Sachs/LUK are the same company and are the only suppliers to most of the VAG group with the exception of Seat who use Valeo clutches on some models where the engines are SPA units. Steve.
  4. Hi if you ever get the screen replaced you would have to get the camera re calibrated the whole system is rubbish as even in the summer if the screen area around the lens gets dusty it comes up with lane assist unavailable, then when you clean the screen it comes back, if I were you I would turn the thing off every time I drive, when I bought my new cab this year it came with a new certificate of calibration, lucky me is all it ever does is keep yanking the steering every time you cross the white line to overtake a parked car or when it really goes nuts is approaching a roundabout with graded cross hatch lines for lane control to filter left or right, if I thought for one minute that my driving would rely on this I would hand my licence back and buy a push bike, the cheapest route, is forget about it. Steve.
  5. Hi ATE is good so we have to work back from there provided the spring clip is present the next thing is the plug that joins the the sensor cable to the loom, was this difficult to remove?, I had this recently where the plug was difficult to remove and the pins inside the female part of the plug [main loom] were displaced and corroded, cured this by buying a repair kit on eBay as this is apparently quite a common problem, I priced the upper loom which you can only buy from Audi at over £200, so I opted for the repair kit at £9.99 from a company called Just German Parts on eBay its a doddle to fit and just required soldering to the main loom, word of advice just twist the wires together before soldering to make sure you have the wires the right way round and the light is out. Steve.
  6. Hi what brand of wear sensor did you use as a lot of the cheaper ones I have fitted have been like this because the little spring bit on the end where it fits to the pad is missing, if its not there thats what conducts the current so the light stays on. Steve.
  7. Hi I can thoroughly endorse the Yara brand of adblue this is also available in good ole Halfords it is their own brand but is made by Yara which is one of the purest adblue on the market, I have been using it for a number of years with no problems, adblue is not pigs urine but a crystallised fertiliser that when mixed with water has the same effect in converting Nox1 particles [very nasty] in to Nox2 which is inert. Steve.
  8. Hi the only thing to do now is suck it and see what happens, if you only use a quality adblue with an anti crystallisation additive you may well be all fine and dandy, did not realise how time sensitive your request was, the bit you researched was worrying from the point of view that it mentioned higher cat/dpf temperatures, this can be combated by using a fuel additive such as Dipetane which is a hydrocarbon based additive and makes the soot particles smaller and allows them to be burnt at a lower temperature, it also absorbs any water in the diesel and burns that as well, google it, it has many good reviews and is made in Ireland where some fuel suppliers already have it added to their fuel. Steve.
  9. Hi like one of the posts on that site said once done it is irretrievably there, it might have been an idea to have posted a couple of days ago, personally I have never had any success with any Audi problem curing update, I have a theory that they are trying hard to limit the lifespan of the later diesel models to try and upgrade the possibility of electric car sales as they just are not selling, the other day I saw an 2022 Etron GT for sale second hand 36k on the clock £40,000, makes you wonder, what price was that new they seem to be a four wheeled Stockmarket crash. Steve.
  10. Hi take the SD card out and buy an adaptor so you can view it on your PC. Steve.
  11. Hi it does not make sense, if you have not already got a motor why do you want to buy one, it wont matter how many part sites we suggest you wont get a part number for it if it was not fitted in the first place as they all work on VIN numbers. Steve.
  12. Hi Cliff well put but they are not snake oil just the stuff that comes out of the snakes rear end, any tuning box is eventual death for your engine, the best advice on this thread was LEAVE IT ALONE? Steve.
  13. Hi the only way to find out is to get the car scanned for faults, this will give you a ballpark as to where the problem is, also it could be the throttle body or an injector or an airleak. Steve.
  14. Hi there you go, a Damn sight cheaper than buying somebody else's worn out parts, well done. Steve.
  15. Hi sounds as though the PCV valve might have ruptured its designed to only pass water and oil vapour and when it wont function correctly it will suck out engine oil and also introduce more air via the filler cap that would account for the rough idle, also check the injector seals in the rocker cover if they are oily that will contribute to oil loss as the PCV Valves sometimes block and pressurise the crankcase, easiest way to check is get the engine warm then unhook the hose from the PCV valve [circular item on top of the rocker cover], then get some kitchen towel and with. the engine running see what comes out. Steve.
  16. Hi sounds from your description like a gearbox problem, my guess is a differential bearing. Steve
  17. I t is most likely the pump failing, well worth replacing the pump and any drive mechanism. Steve.
  18. Hi the oil used sounds about right but absent any brand of oil filter I really could not give an informed opinion, oil viscosity is important was it 05/30?, depending on the milage you may have to go to 05/40 which is not thicker it just has different temperature characteristics. Steve.
  19. Hi no problem I have done the over grease a few years ago thats when I discovered the difference between floating and fixed callipers. Steve.
  20. Hi TPS are not helpful anymore same as Audi main dealers, if its the cooler thats in the DPF NRG do a cooler online thats about £250 and the valve is about £160 vs just under £500 for the cooler and £370 for the valve from TPS.
  21. Hi very, very diplomatic Clifford, disappoint is definitely not on my list of terms for them. Steve.
  22. Hi it my well be available as a repair kit online but will require some soldering but only cut one wire at a time and older to the respective station on the new plug, if your not comfortable doing this get an auto electrician to do the job, this is a standard plug used on a lot of different cars. Steve.
  23. Hi probably is using more diesel to compensate for the intermittent signals from the ECU that the adblue is about to run out, the ECU is like a thick friend that believes anything he is told, I have used Forte on a couple of diesels a Q5, a Transit and a Skoda with very positive results, it takes a while to do its stuff and at around £15.00 a bottle its worth a go. Steve.
  24. Hi its probably adblue crystals clogging the level sensor in the tank, try a bottle of Forte adblue crystal remover available on eBay or Halfords. Steve.
  25. Hi its a bad earth on the rear of the light cluster, common problem. Steve.
