Hi chances are you have a bad battery if its the original its probably going to be extinct, easy test is connect a donor battery to the jumper posts clear all redundant codes and try and start it, if it will not start re scan and look for fresh codes and it all depends on what diagnostic platform you are using it should show can communication errors where you have unplugged things. Steve.

Hi the strips are Anti rattle sound proofing and stop the sqab from bouncing up and down and making a noise, can't see any wet from the picture on the metal but you can on the strips, just wondering what that interesting hole is just above the pump cover. Steve.

Hi I am really pleased you have a result, but more to the point THANK YOU for the feed back, one of the hardest things to do is autodiagnosis from description and you have been nothing less than forthcoming with information so therefore a pleasure to help, I would never recommend anything I have not used or seen used as that will lead to extra expense which I did when I was a lot younger, so I am well aware of the feelings of loss financially and disappointment that it hasn't worked. You would be amazed at the amount of people that post and get everybody at it, they get a possible solution and disappear into cyberspace so all contributors, Steve,Gareth,Clifford and myself never know the outcome which is most frustrating, because you wanted to help yourself you are now armed with the right tool for the job you have my upmost respect and I look forward to your settings tutorial as the name of the game on here is to starve the dealers of potential victims. Regards Steve.

Hi check your screen menu it should have TPMS reset facility on it, from memory the good old E.U made the system compulsory in about 2010. Steve.

Hi lift the seat out and run the car with some kitchen towel around the cap and that should tell you if its a small perforation in one of the connector pipes spraying vapour into the car, TBH its the only place it can come from to get on the seat, I feel for you as having a diesel smell in the car is awful. Steve.
-
Hi if you lift out the rear seat squab I think you will find its coming from the lift pump cap under the seat, probably the seal has gone on the locking ring under the cap. Steve.

Hi I do love that term master mechanic most of the time it means they were the best of a bad bunch, my daughters Q3 had full Audi service history and the telephone number bills with it, guess what when I dragged the filters out of it the air filter had the date the car was built stamped on it and the oil and fuel filter were indescribable, I wish you could talk to the garage owner I use he has removed loads of air filters and pollen filters from Audis that have the year of build written on them the crying shame is the cars are now 3-4 years old, the owners have a print out with whats been changed but in reality it has not they just tell people what they want to hear, BMW are the same the only dealer service history I would trust is Mercedes as from the couple I have worked on the o.e. part dates tally up, the Millers is a good product does what it says on the bottle. Steve.

Hi most diesel failures you mention are normally caused by a lack of regular maintenance, timing chain tensioners are caused by late or non existent oil services, blocked heaters through lack of good antifreeze and changes which stop the Block/core from corroding, cheap fuel, supermarket normally this does not have enough lubricity agent in it so it runs the pump and injectors, if you have any worries about the chain get it replaced, use a good quality fuel additive as I do my A6 according to Audi should have had the EGR/DPF replaced by now but 20k on from that time it still works fine and if I were you I would find another garage as they sound just a tad too rich. There must be loads of people with a similar or same engine who have done far more miles than yourself, what if is not a good mind set to have to live with. Steve.

Any Russian translators on the forum, I would ask my sister she speaks Russian but lives in America.

Hi glad you got it sorted, from the middle of desperation comes a solution, well done. Steve.

Hi I would tend to go with what Audi are telling you, might be worth giving them a call just to nail it shut, £900 seems a little more than excessive for a service after all its only a couple of filters and some oil and a few hours labour, the problem is they are all trying to claw back losses from the lockdown and as most lateral thinking people know you might as well try poking smoke up a cats backside with a knitting needle with that idea. Steve.

Hi not for long as the oxygen sensor if faulty makes the engine management system go into a default strategy which will make the fueling run richer this will eventually kill the catalytic converter the sensors only cost just over £100 for a good one [Bosch], by the sounds of it yours is in the early stages of failure get it diagnosed to see if its a hard fault and can't be deleted. Steve.

Hi unfortunately the eBay connector looks different from the original, as asked do you only have the two wires going into the plug? in which case they should be coloured so matching one side to the other should be easy if you go the cut and shut route just make sure the key is nowhere near the car when you do it, just unlock it and leave the car for ten mins to settle before commencing work. Steve.
-
Hi just a thought, is it automatic, if so that could well be a gearbox control loom.
-
Hi anything that is disconnected will cause a problem as the whole car is full of CCM modules which talk to each other therefore if one is silent, a break in the circuit the rest of the modules throw a hissy fit and won't work properly, have a look in daylight and see if you can work out which way the connector fits as it can only connect one way and they normally have a strange shaped piece of plastic on the male side that only allows it to push in one way. Steve.
-
Hi thats probably it as any exposed wiring gets moisture in it and causes all sorts of weird problems, I would also check the oil level just in case, has it been lowered?. Steve.
-
Hi sorry it sounds like you have covered just about every thing, the only thing I can think of is that its a driven clutch problem in the gearbox itself. Steve.

Hi Delphi pads are good as they are fitted to Vauxhall,Citroen,Peugeot, and practically every model in the U.S. and without going into the same information again they will be either E11 or E90 marked which means they have to pass stringent tests to obtain the rating to be sold as aftermarket or in the case of Delphi as O.E. equivalent, despite the overwhelming evidence as to the quality of these parts there are those who would rather spend a lot more on a box that has been badge engineered with the same pad inside, pushing home the point TMG Friction own most of the brake manufacturers in Europe and having used most brands of brakes during 950000 miles as a cabbie I can assure you Delphi pads are good as gold based on the fact that I used them on my last cab and they pulled up a ton and quarter 2.2 Titanium X sport estate pretty damn quick from over a ton, [Did I say that], its impossible to buy cr@p brake pads then days even Apec have had to up their game with the advent of E11/E90, Google it as if your fixing cars it makes fascinating reading. Steve.

Hi I hate to tell you this but if the oil was dirty how could anyone know if the filter was clean unless they have microscope vision, it follows that if the oil was dirty at some point it will have travelled through the filter and god only knows how much crud is embedded in the filter, the normal practice is to change both regardless of any visual inspection offered, possible the changed oil is having a hard time with an old filter. Steve.
-
Hi most indépendant garages are capable of doing an oil/filter change, best practise is change all the filters and oil it will probably come to less than Audi want for the oil change only, I am fortunate that I can do my own so using Bosch filters and a good quality oil the parts come to about £70.00 plus a Sunday afternoon. Steve.
-
Hi if its been standing try getting the gearbox serviced the oil is probably knackered along with the filters. Steve.

Hi not necessarily if you can find a kind soul in your area that has VCDS, try any independent VAG specialists as they may well be able to help you out and it will be a lot cheaper than Audi who charge an eyewaterinw amount just to inspect it. Steve.
