Hi ive got a 1990 Audi coupe 2.3e B3 and my heaters blower motor is only working on number 4. Ive seen a lot of people with similar Audis get the same problem and 9 times out of 10 its the blower motor resistor. I bought a new resistor for my car and removed the old one at the weekend but the one i had bought was totally different. The new one only had a 4 pin connector but the original had a 5 pin connector and the connector from the blowwer motor could plug into it too. It was obviously not the right part. My original part number for the resistor is 894959263 but i cant get one anywhere. I csn however get one with the part number 893959263 which looks identical to my original part but the 3rd digit is one number higher on mine. Does anyone know if this part will fit my car? It looks identical and the connector is for 5 pins like mine. Thanks.

Hi have you checked the fuel pump is priming. I had the same problem when my intank fuel pump died on my coupe 2.3e and it would start then immedietely cut out. Could also be the idle stabilizer valve. If theres a split in the hose the car might not run. Good luck.

Hi my heater blower motor has stopped working on settings 1,2 and 3 but works well on 4. I think the problem is the blower motor resistor.ive bought a new resistor and i was just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the old one. I dont know if it clips in or has bolts. I just dont want to damage anything and cant find any videos showing how to do it. The cars a 1990 Audi coupe 2.3e B3. Thanks.

Why does my gearstick grind when i select 2nd gear
IHK 11 replied to IHK 11's topic in Audi A4 (B6) Forum
Hi i forgot to update what happened on here. The car did go into the garage last summer and unfortunstely the gearbox was completely finished. The car still ran but it started grinding really bad in reverse 1st and 2nd. I had to get a new gearbox well a second hand one. I bought one off ebay which i was assured fits my car but it didnt so i had to buy a second gearbox which was an absolute peach. I got it from a scrapyard in Stockton on tees with 76,000 miles for £160 delivered which was really good and its been great ever since. There is a 3 digit code on the gearbox which should also be on the cars handbook or service book. I know one is ggg which mine wasnt and the other is something like hfd. I also changed the clutch at the sametime. My mechanic told me that i was really unlucky that the gearbox had gone as they are pretty bulletproof but the car runs perfectly now. Hopefully your gearbox might be ok tho. I think changing the gearbox oil is a good place to start. Good luck. -
Hi everyone i just wanted to share my joy in finally getting heat in my Audi. Ever since ive owned the car the heater has been cold. Ive changed the thermostat, radiator, hoses, expansion tank, coolant temp sender and sensor and heater controls. Ive also flushed the matrix with water, white vinegar, coke and lemon juice but not much change so i thought il have to do the matrix but it looked a huge task for myself and a garage would charge a fortune. When i bought the car i looked through the service history and there was a receipt for a mahle heater matrix in 2002 so i kind of ruled the matrix out but it appears a heater matrix was bought but never fitted. When i finally got the dash out i realised the heater matrix was a valeo so couldnt of been replaced. I replaced the heater matrix with a new valeo matrix and replaced the foam on all the blend doors in the heater box with aluminium foil tape which is absolutely brilliant and keeps the heat well. The old foam was absolutely shot and completely gone on the blend door nearest to the blower motor. The heater is now really hot and warms up very quickly. It took me 5 days and a lot of chocolate bars to get it done but well worth the hassle. The most difficult part was getting the dash back in and lining up the windscreen heater duct with the heater box. I labelled every screw, bolt, connector and part which helped so much. Id just like to thank everyone on the forum over the years for help and advice. People have said about the matrix and the blend door insulation. I didnt think i would be able to do this job as it was above my capability but after watching lots of videos on youtube and talking to people on the forum i just had to give it a go. I would advise anyone who wants to do this to just take theyre time label everything take photos and just give it a go. Im no mechanic but if anyone wants any advice on how to do this id be happy to share how i done it. When i had the dash out i thought what have i done but dont be overwhemed Thanks.

Hi my sunroof has recently stopped working on my 1990 Audi coupe 2.3e so i think its a relay or fuse as the switch is making a clicking sound when i press it. My car just recently had the steering rack changed and the sunroofs not worked since i got it back. I looked in the main fusebox under the bonnet and couldnt find a relay or fuse for the sunroof. I just wondered if anyone knows ehere its located? Thanks.

Hi i have a 1993 Audi coupe 2.3e which i bought 3 years ago but has been off the road for 13 years altogether. When i bought this car i got it running after a friend fixed the immobiliser but then it stalled and wouldnt run again. I found the issue to be the distributor and since getting a new one it has a great spark. The car sparks well but still wont start although the local garage have had it running on easystart but thats not ideal. Today we took some stuff off to try and get to the injectors and also found a split on the underside of the metreing head rubber boot. Anyway theres a metal pipe that goes from the underneath of the metreing boot to what looks like the engine. We removed this metal pipe which we believe to be a breather hose and it was totally clogged with what looks like mud and grease. Even water couldnt flow through it. Weve soaked this pipe in all sorts of cleaners and its totally clear now but when we looked into the hole by the engine where this pipe goes into the hole was full of what looks like black grease. Do you think this is oil gone bad as the cars been stood for so long. Does anyone have any idea if this could be a reason for the car not running? Either way this looks like a problem that needs fixing. Any ideas about this and how it should look? Any advice or knowledge would be really helpful. Thanks everyone. Could this even be part of the air coming into the car and effect the heater? Thanks.this is the hole the metal pipe goes into from the metreing rubber boot.

Hi the problem ive got is the seller who assured me the gearbox would fit isnt replying to my messages. Ive had to go through paypal on ebay who say i have to arrange delivery and pay for it before i get my refund. Annoying really. Good idea if the seller would of responded tho. Thanks.

I think its going to be a problem getting a courier to return it for a reasonable price. Might just keep hold of it for now. Thanks.

I think we all realise its very heavy thats for sure. I think its going to be too expensive to send back so might just keep it for now. Thanks.

Hi i meant great as in thanks for giving me an idea of the weight. It wouldnt surprise me if it actually did weigh that much. It took 2 of us to pick it up and it was quite a big gearbox. Thanks.

I ordered a gearbox for the car off ebay which i was assured would fit but it didnt and the gearbox code was diffetent to mine. My gearbox code is a hfd and the gearbox i need to return is a ftw. I need to send the ftw gearbox back now but i need to know the weight before arranging a courier. Does anyone know the weight or where i could find out? Thanks.

Hi ive got a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t cabrio and i need a new gearbox. Ive already bought one off ebsy but it doesnt fit. I was assured it would fit. It does have a different gearbox code tho. Ive found out by reading the sticker in the boot and the sticker in my service book shich is identical that my gearbox code is HFD and my engine code is BFB. Ive seen a lot of gearboxes for sale with these 2 codes. Will any gearbox with the same 2 codes fit my car? I dont want to buy another gearbox that doesnt fit. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks from Ian.

Cheers Greg. Sometimes you just have to have a go. New matrix would make a huge difference. -
Hi Greg i hope it will be ok for you now. water can get in anywhere. It took me years to work out how it was getting in. Its fun trying to fix in summer but a nightmare in winter. Sounds like your making progress with it. 👍
