  1. Evening gents just wondering if anyone can help me identify the right wheel bearing as I'm getting two different parts, I remember I had this last year for the rear, now I'm after the front passenger side any help greatly appreciated
  2. Alright folks, got to the bottom of the fault lights coming on ABS ESP & Headlight range finder, it was all tied to the rear right abs sensor!
  3. Hmm the thought has crossed my mind, I know the lad quite well up there so I think I'm going to take it up there an see what he says about it.. not sure what wiring you'd actually be near while truing up the tracking to be honest.
  4. I've just remembered when I had mine fixed they get back to you when they've diagnosed the problem an then let you decide if you want to go ahead with it.
  5. Morning folks, so I came to start the car the other day a few days after having a few tyres put on and tracking done, and I got two faults one after the other come through on the dash, the first was ESP/ABS fault an then Headlight range finder defective. My first thought was maybe the battery's low so I charged it over night, an never got the faults again till later that day, I know this doesn't rule the battery out but thought it was worth a try, so I did some digging online an it seems the ABS sensors can throw these 2 faults, so I was just curious if anybody else had this happen before?
  6. Yes popped the new tubes in an it's working perfect now, But we're onto new problems now😂.
  7. Ahh didn't see this.
  8. Hmm sounds a bit more than just the dash, ive heard that the battery cables sometimes can wear through by rubbing on the battery carrier causing these issues. And then as daft as it sounds a fuse? Worth ruling out to me.
  9. Sorry for the belated reply I didn't see this but yes I got it fixed wasn't a bad job at all👍 the worst part was removing the old cables they were really corroded into the tubing.
  10. Highly common fault from what I found in my research aswell.
  11. I recently had mine fixed at ECU testing pal, symptoms were no dash lights or gauges worked intermittently at first and gradually got worse. Recommend ecu they're good. What are the symptoms your getting?
  12. Ahhh so unlucky while your away, you can bet that the other side wont be too far away either if that sides thrown in the towel, had the exact same thing happen with mine last year, fingers crossed its not cooked the disc aswell!, you'll know as it will judder lightly on braking.
  13. Wow thank god for aftermarket parts! I got in touch with parts in Motion and the soonest they could get the parts out to me was Thursday and euro car parts don't stock them at all so I hadto got to another place (tps) that stock oem vag stuff so £42 not too bad👌.
  14. Just £20 for the tubes was expecting atleast £1000 from audi😂.
  15. Morning Ah no worries, I can't remember what I had for tea last night😂, but it is a carpet up job, and it does ring a bell taking the arm rest post out from the video I mentioned, hopefully it's not too bad a job to remove, can't really see it giving that much play in the carpet, I'm half tempted to Stanley round the edge of the post an then super glue it back down when finished🤔. No reason other than like you say just for convenience as its the closest parts store, an I was leaning more towards it for quickness but it doesn't really matter now as I've just been on the phone to audi an they can't get the guide tubes in till Wednesday morning, so I've had a look at the parts in Motion website but can't seem to find the febi cables, I do rate there stuff aswell all my discs an pads are febi.
  16. May aswell get them changed while the cables are done then hopefully theyre not too expensive from the dealership, do you remember how you went about lifting the carpet? Yes im pretty sure I can eliminate the calipers as the problem as they're less than a year old and the spring mechanism feels as strong as it should be. So tommorow I will pick some cables up from euro car parts, and fingers crossed one of the local dealerships has some of the guide tubes in stock, so I can set to it tommorow night👍.
  17. I had came across a post on another forum where someone briefly mentioned those aluminium tubes in a video, I still don't really understand how the tubes can go bad, what is it that happens to them? Also in the video the guy just butchers the carpet to get at the tubing don't plan on doing that but it just depends how bad a job it is😅 looks simple enough on the underside of the car though. Appreciate the help🙏 .
  18. Evening folks, just wondered if anybodys had a similar issue to me with the handbrake cables, for a while now my hand brakes been fairly loose an doesn't hold very well, so I finally got round to looking at it properly today, I tried adjusting via the adjustor at the back of the arm rest with no luck then I took the backwheels off and noticed the cables aren't moving freely an somehow ive freed them up more but it's made it worse the hand brake works now but one side won't release when you put down the handbrake, I've shot loads of gt85 down the tubing from both ends no luck at all. So looks like I'm going to need to replace them, has anyone done this yet? Doesn't look too bad of a Job to me but any pointers would be appreciated 👍
  19. That's a tricky one that my freind hence the lack of replies 😬, have you found any solution to your problem yet? I cannot see a way around it to be honest, as you can't get to the latch mechanism with the door closed
  20. Got the part back yesterday afternoon, so I've refit it an it's worked a treat!
  21. I've just gone ahead with it cliff, like you say what else is there to do.. atleast then that's ruled out. Fingers crossed it works when it comes back! Failing that Itll be taking it into an auto electrical place.
  22. So I had the instrument cluster sent away to be looked at to ECU testing, and I heard today that they couldn't find a fault, but with the symptoms I described it is a common fault and can he intermittent, so I can have it rebuilt to rule it out for 180, the thing is when the fault came about I drove it for just over a week and it didn't work once... so I'm torn what to do, and I'm not exactly flush at the moment, so can't really be affording to blow 180 on nothing.
  23. Yes cheers Steven I've already seen them, looks straight forward I'm going to remove it later this week, I've spoken to a few auto electricians who've said they'd put money on it being the instrument cluster needing repaired with it being fairly common on a3's. Will definitely consider them if the other guy had a good experience with them, I'll get in touch today, thanks👍.
