  1. Cheers cliff, tried to get in touch with the guy that posted the thread yesterday, no luck as of yet. Maybe there's a YouTube tutorial for it.
  2. Cant seem to find the old threads, do you have a link?
  3. Thanks cliff yes it's looking like your right, I've change the fuse an still nothing, so I've been in touch with a local auto electrical place and got it booked in, the guy said it'll probably a fault with the cluster an need sent away for repair, no quotes yet. I may have a go at removing it myself yet as the bookings not for 2 weeks, have you removed one before on these?
  4. Morning gents, came to my car this morning and the dash lights and dials are completely dead, car runs fine, everything apart from the dash lights and dials. I'm trying the fuse for it this afternoon fingers crossed its just as simple as that, just curious if anybody else has had this trouble? And how it was solved, thankyou in advance 👍
  5. Yes it does need to come off but if it's possible I want to try an diagnose the problem before I start pulling it apart as I've heard pulling turbos on these is a pain in the !Removed!, an I'd like to have any gaskets or whatever it needs at hand for when it's taken apart
  6. Apologies for the camera work was quite tight to get in there!⁹ 20221018_151409.mp4
  7. Oright folks, just wanting to see if I can pick your brains for a bit of help I've a 2010 a3 tdi 170 that has a slight oil leak which looks to be coming from the turbo area its been there since I got it a few years ago, I had the clutch replaced last year an asked the lad to see what he thought it might be am he had a quick look an asked if the turbo has been replaced and it has he mentioned that it could be a copper seal that's not been renewed, I'm going to upload some pictures shortly once I get it jacked up an the undertray off. I don't know if this is connected but I have noticed since I got the car that the turbo doesn't sound normal hard to describe but it's almost like a pronounced air whoosh as you get up the revs any thoughts or help would be appreciated guys cheers
  8. I had the car jacked up on axle stands when it was done will that have anything to do with it? Just thinking some of the oil may have been stuck with the engine being at an angle?
  9. Hi folks this is gonna sound really stupid bit of a head scratcher for me, I've just done an oil/filter change on my a3 2.0 tdi. Which I believe takes 4.5l drained it completely put everything back together put 4 litres on in an dipped it an it was reading way above max right up to the little ball a few inches above the measure part, so left it over night an it's still saying the same this morning🤔 thoughts anyone?
  10. Cheers cliff I'll look into it👌
  11. Grand thought this might be the best place to start, have you ever swapped one out before?
  12. Hi folks just checking if anyones had the window switch unit out on one of these.. as the drivers side window has just given up the ghost, it's just the drivers side window that's not working that's what's making me think it's the switch, it started intermittently not responding, and heard no binding noises or slow movement to suggest it might be the mechanism. Any help would be much appreciated 👍
  13. Apologies for the late reply an appreciate the advice an tips, I've had a day off work today an have had a look underneath the car an the first thing I've noticed is around the inner end of the drivers side driveshaft it looks like its been leaking green grease, I'll attach a video so you can see, obviously this needs seeing to but would this cause the steering wheel play an knocking over uneven road/ bumps? 20210309_132414.mp4
  14. Havent had chance to get her jacked up yet although a while back I had a quick look underneath couldnt see anything obvious I know the drivers side drop link needs changed but obviously wouldnt explain the play in the steering wheel, I'm hoping its something that's just loose but wont he knowing my luck. Had the clutch replaced on this car when I first got it, an my mechanic found that bolts in the drive shaft were very loose so it wouldnt suprise me tbh
  15. Hi folks just wondering if anyone can help theirs a clunking noise going over bumps doesnt even really have to be a bump even uneven road, an same noise but louder at slow speed turning a tight angle.. was thinking it's a drop link an could still be, but now the steering seems quite sloppy plenty of play in it any thoughts what I could try?
  16. That's great cliff thankyou, the rough idle was their before the clutch change so another thing off the list👍, it wont be till the weekend till I get a time to have a go at it, dont know why I didnt think of the maf, I've just sold a can of maf sensor cleaner on ebay I used on my last car🤦‍♂️. As regards to air leak into the manifold how would I go about that? Something I've not done before.
  17. The car seems in fairly good condition
  18. Hi cliff sorry I should've thought, so the car is a 2.0 tdi 170 with 100k , it's got full service history, bought the car a few months ago just replaced the clutch and dmf, the oil an fuel filter have also been done.
  19. Morning folks just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of where to start with a rough idle🤔, injectors? Everythings fine apart from idle power deliverys fine, funny thing is it seems to get rougher when it gets up to temp
