  1. I'll inform you of my progress Gareth. Thanks for your helpful input thus far! Robin
  2. Gareth...you have pointed out a glaring error on my profile! God knows why I put 2006, because it is indeed a 2009. I think our two model requirements are indeed different from what I have so far learned. I wonder if an Audi dealer would help out. It would be interesting from the point of view of knowing how much they would charge for a new mirror. Thanks for replying, I will pass on my findings when I have found out. Robin
  3. The drivers side door mirror on my 2009 A3 TFSI 2 Door has been hit by a passing vehicle, and the pivot casting has broken. The mirrors are non-powered folding and for once I forgot to turn mine in. I'm looking to try and get a secondhand replacement off Ebay, but am wondering whether the mirror from a four door car is the same as for a two door, as there are more 4 door versions to choose from. Does anyone have the answer please? Thanks, Robin
  4. Turns out the drivers side central locking mechanism was faulty. New one fitted, problem sorted!
  5. Thanks guys, good call. I'll be booking it in tomorrow. I'll follow up on this forum just for others benefit. Robin
  6. My 2009 1.8TFSI has started to play up. Basically I can't lock it without the alarm going off. Using either the lock button on the fob or the key itself, the doors lock as they should, but a few minutes later, and the length of time is variable, the indicator lights start flashing accompanied by a low volume persistent "beep", not the loud alarm siren though. I disconnected the battery to see if that would reset something, but to no avail, and which in turn has led to other problems, namely the illumination of several warning lights on the instruments. Not sure if this might be relevant, but prior to this fault rearing its head the emission control system warning light appeared. Any ideas? Robin
  7. I am looking at buying my first A3 and am considering two promising cars which fit my requirements. Both cars are in similar condition with similar histories and prices, but they are both different models. A 2005 1.6 Sport with 62000 miles on the clock, at £ 3995, and a 2008 1.4 TFSI Sport S-Tronic with 86500 miles at £4495. They are both automatic. Which, in an ideal world should be the better car? I am not overly concerned about performance, the car will be used around town and for travelling ( eventually ). Do both or either of these engines have timing belts, or chains?
