  1. I accept that electric cars are not as green as people think. But, I am sure they do go some way towards helping the environment. As to the fire risk your ICE car sits on the drive with probably 10 gallons of highly flammable fuel in the tank. With regard to turning off the chargers so we can't recharge, how many of you queued for hours for fuel when Russia invaded The Ukraine,
  2. I think that's what made it all the sweeter because it was unexpected.
  3. Hi I wrote to Audi UK,, not complaining, but just to explain my surprise at all the recalls for the GT recently, and also not being able to get a courtesy car because of my age. I had a very nice e-mail back saying that they would look into this for me. They came back to me telling me that they couldn't help with the courtesy car as it was Audi's S.E. policy but they may be able to help in other ways. They telephoned me recently to make certain all the work had been done and I was satisfied with the car once again. They then said that Audi UK will pay for my next service for the inconvenience I have had. As the last service was £600+ thanks very much. I have a letter of confirmation which has been safely filed away until needed in 2026.
  4. Got the car back today. After it's last recall. So they had the car for 8 days this time. In 6 weeks I have only clocked 207 miles. I tried to find out what they actually did. It was a battery module check, where they have to monitor the traction battery over a number of days. Mine passed OK. I wonder how long before I get another recall?
  5. Hi James When I had my A6 I think the sump capacity was about 8 litres not quarts. Tony
  6. Hi Jessica I had exactly this problem with a BMW I had. Lumpy running and cutting out. The problem on this occasion was that when I had topped up the engine oil I had cross threaded the oil cap which allowed air to get into the system. Being a sealed system it was causing the MAF sensor to give incorrect info to the ECU. Just a thought. Tony
  7. The E Tron GT is a very wide car. 7 feet between the mirrors. I scuffed the offside rear wheel in a multi story car park the other day. As I have already had the wheels refurbed by Audi because of corrosion when the car was new they cannot be done again. So I purchased a another wheel. Managed to get a second hand one in perfect condition with a worn tyre at a reasonable price. I now know why there is no spare wheel. There is nowhere to put it. This rear wheel is so wide it only just fits in the boot. It took two blokes to put it in, not sure how to get it out yet.

  8. Hi John On my app I have a "All Functions" feature. Tap there and I get Theft and Location. Tap there and status image appears. I don't know what happens next if there is an alarm or attempted theft. Tony
  9. I will try to find out. Probably over kill by Audi. Anyway back on the bus after the 9th December.
  10. Thanks for that Steve. But I have that covered. My granddaughter works for Formula 1 hospitality, and she has got me some fire proof underwear and F1 racing suit. The only thing is I feel a bit of a prat when I go into Sainsburys.
  11. Very rarely do I charge away from home. I think I have only done it once. I never charge beyond 80% as recommended by Audi. My OHME home charger charges somewhere between 6.5 and 7.4 KW. depending on the house load. In the 18 months I have had the car I have only done 4400 miles.
  12. Yet another recall. Changed the name the car now. It is a Audi Recall GT. Going in December 9th for 8 days this time. Battery charge checks. It seems they need to discharge the battery on day one and then slowly recharge. This cycle has to be done more than once, therefore the long stay in the garage. Tony

    E-Tron Recall

Hi Jillian Sorry to hear about your heater. Mine was changed on the last recall. I agree they do seem to spend a lot of their time at Audi recently. Tony
  14. I do some times wonder if I am sitting on a 440v time bomb. But, at 81 if you got to go, it's nice to be on top of the one you love.
  15. It is an insulation check. Booked for the 12th.
  16. Hi Just got another recall on the GT. 931B. Some thing to do with the high voltage battery. Tony
  17. Sorry about the quotes, clicked on wrong button
  18. Hi Kevin My E Tron GT went in for the same recall last week. Plus two computer upgrades. Audi kept it for a week but they said the high voltage heater takes along time to replace, nothing regarding the brake hoses. Got it back last Saturday and I must admit that the brakes are a lot more positive now. I hope you get it resolved soon. Tony
  19. Hi Gab When I had my A6 Avant I had a rear view camera fitted by Autologics. It was perfect. Plumbed into the MMI activated on selecting reverse no problems. Camera fitted it car, at home, on driveway, took the techy about 30 minutes. Wouldn't know anything had been done other than I now had a RV camera. Tony

    E-Tron Recall

Hi Just collected the car from Audi South East. Running so smooooooooth. All work completed, haven't noticed any different really. But Audi have been very understanding regarding the lack of courtesy car. No charge for changing the brake fluid and also gave me 15% discount off the invoice. so we are best friends again. Tony

    E-Tron Recall

Just thought I would give you an update. Audi South East just telephoned, car should be ready for collection tomorrow pm. That's five days to do the recalls and service. Tony

    E-Tron Recall

Not sure why the heater is being changed, but they said that there has been a few instances of the brake hosed cracking.

    E-Tron Recall

Hi Just taken the car into Audi South East for it's recalls and service inspection. The recalls are = 1. Replace high voltage heater. 2. Replace flexible brake hoses, 3. Computer upgrade. 4. MMI upgrade. Also no courtesy car supplied as I am too old for their insurance. Getting used to things being taken away from me this year. Tony
  24. Hi Steve I haven't got a clue what goes on when I switch the Audi on. I bought my E-Tron GT initially for pleasing shape and performance. In my mind there is not much to go wrong with the car, accepting the braking and steering systems there are only two moving parts. The motors. I accept that the electronic systems must be very complex but most of the ICE cars these days are similarly complex. I do wonder sometimes what it is going to be like in the years to come with 70k - 100k miles on the clock. Tony
