tyre replacement AUDI A4 Avant (2019) spare tyre question
Chris 747 replied to Steve335's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi again Paul, I've got a space-saver spare wheel and have just tried fitting in. Only problem is I cannot see how to fit the black plastic cover back on, there are no slots for the cover to slide into. Here are a couple of pics. Any help appreciated. All the best, Chris Bryant- 24 replies

tyre replacement AUDI A4 Avant (2019) spare tyre question

Hi Paul, Another very interesting post about the space-saver spare wheel. I thought I'd take another crack at trying to fit all the components and have ordered the wheel & toolkit from The Wheel Shop. Where did you get your foam insert from? I believe I'll need the securing nut too. Where did you get that? Is there anything else I'll need? All the best, Chris- 24 replies

tyre replacement AUDI A4 Avant (2019) spare tyre question
Chris 747 replied to Steve335's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Useful info, Geoff. Where did you buy the foam insert from? What about a tool kit? I bought mine from my local Audi dealership - jack plus jack handle - but returned for a refund as I could not fit the components, even with the help of Audi service guy! I must be doing something wrong!🤔 I'll have to look into another try. 🙂- 24 replies

Hi everyone, I finally found the problem of my Nextbase dashcam not holding its battery charge. Basically, my own fault! 🤲 I found a connection was not fully in place after all the other tests I had done. Everything is now working as it should. Fortunately I do not need a replacement battery at this time...hooray! I did wait for a few days before reporting back on this to make sure all was well. Happy days! 😄

Hi Gareth, I did check both those options but Battery Megastore was no good and Tayna has some very poor reviews - apparently they do not accept any bad reviews, which is worrying. I will look for the brands you mentioned but this is an ongoing problem that I'm attempting to sort out. See my post from a few minutes ago. Cheers!
-
Thanks for that, Stephen. This is definitly an ongoing issue. I checked with my local Audi dealer's service and spares departments and from what info they gave me my current battery (excuse pun!) should be okay if such & such is working as normal, which it is. For them to do a test of the battery would cost £140!!! 😮So, not going that route! Plus they are asking for £322.20 for a new one!!! The Halford's one at £180 appears to be the best deal but I'm currently working on a battery check of my dashcam which could be faulty, following directions from NextBase. It's a 4 hour process! I'll update my finding when that's completed. 🤞 Cheers!

Hi, Yes, I know - everything seems pricey for Audis. I have looked online and saw that Halfords has an AGM 095 battery with a 5 guarantee for £180 (fitting extra, of course) but that seems too cheap really compared with others I've seen - a Bosch S3 is £282.58 from buycarparts.co.uk for instance. It's a bit of a minefield.

My A4 Avant 40 TFSI was registered in March 2019 - it's a mild hybrid purchased used at 3,027 miles and bought from a main dealer (it was the service manager's car for around 4 months.) No problems with the lithium battery so far as I can tell, but I do need to replace the main battery. See my post on that subject.

It looks like I'll need to replace my A4 40 tfsi Avant's stop/start battery soon as does not appear to hold it's charge. I have connected it to a CTEK charger twice now over a few days. This came to light a while after the fitting of a NextBase dashcam insomuch that the camera stops working after a very short period. So, I hope I can get some tips from the forum on the best replacement battery and other similar experiences of others.

tyre replacement AUDI A4 Avant (2019) spare tyre question
Chris 747 replied to Steve335's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi again, Mark, I can't find any pics of the space-saver spare I bought & returned, or the foam carrier & tool kit & locking nut. However, the wheel I did buy was a 125/70/R19 size. I just find it so frustrating that I could not fit all the components in the space! I'm inclined to give it another go, but there again I really don't want all the faff of maybe having to return the bits. I appreciate your time & comments, Mark.- 24 replies

tyre replacement AUDI A4 Avant (2019) spare tyre question
Chris 747 replied to Steve335's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi Mark, Thanks for the reply. As you'll see from an earlier post of mine, I had a couple of the service/tech guys from my local Audi dealership try to fit the kit (I had tried myself plus later with help from a friend too) but simply could not make it fit! I did remove all the ancillaries. Has your car got a lidded storage box behind the rear seats as part of the moulding? Mine is shown in the first picture. All the best, Chris- 24 replies

tyre replacement AUDI A4 Avant (2019) spare tyre question
Chris 747 replied to Steve335's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
Hi Mark, I haven't been on the forum for quite a while and was very interested to hear about your sucess in getting a space-saver spare + kit for your A4. Is yours a B9 model? As I mentioned in my questions about obtaining the various parts I was told by my Audi dealership that I would need to have a whole different liner in the cargo area for the kit to fit, I do not have the sub-woofer fitted. I had all the correct parts but could not get them to fit, and that was with one of the techs from the dealership trying too. I've pretty well resigned myself with having to do without the kit. So any further hints or comments would be appreciated. All the best, Chris- 24 replies

Hi Steve, Car was in for a regular service on 30th June and I'd mentioned the window problem. All sorted with a reset of the switch. Probably only took a few minutes.
-
Hi Steve Q, It's the original battery, car 3 years & 3 months old.
-
A couple of days ago I noticed my near-side rear window was down though I had locked the car so went to put it back up. It would not stay in the closed position after trying various methods. Obviously worrying as a security risk, plus raining! This happened last summer when temperatures were high and was fixed at my local Audi dealership - a system reset, I believe. I called the dealership to ask for urgent help, but none forthcoming, wanted to keep the car for five days!!! 😖 Anyway, I contacted an independant Audi/VW specialist who told me what I could do to close the window which was to operate the switch one small step at a time until it reached the closed position and hold for a few seconds. It worked, 🤗 however not a permanent fix. My car is booked for a regular service in a few days so have asked for this issue to be rectified whilst they have it, and hopefully not keep it for five days for what I am sure is a fairly straightforward reset. Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? 🤔

Hello James, Thanks for your reply. I had seen the YouTube video you mentioned whilst researching parts needed to fit a spare wheel and went ahead and ordered them. Sadly, and after taking the car to a main Audi dealership those parts would not fit. I think I mentioned before that a whole new moulding needs to be purchased for the cargo area to accommodate the parts involved. The technician took a long time searching for the suitable part as there were many options, and he gave no guarantee that it would work out! I called it a day, so now would have to rely on the Audi breakdown service (AA) to fix a flat tyre. I really would have thought that somebody out there would have come up with a solution for this very irritating problem. 😟 All the best, Chris
