  1. When I bought my A3 in late 2021 the garage "persuaded" me to download the Audi app. They made it sound like it was almost a necessity. Since then I've barely used it to be honest. Last week, when I was away on a trip, and some 8 hours away from where the car was parked, through boredom probably, I happened to check the app, which told me the car was parked unsafely with all four windows and tailgate open. I managed to get someone to physically check the car and thankfully this was not the case, all was well. Confirmed when I reached it and drove home. I was going to delete the app but instead I moved it from the home screen of my phone - out of sight out of mind. Anyone else had this trouble?
  2. Thanks Gareth, I'll have a look around locally. I think we have an ATS somewhere near here. Rgds, John
  3. Hi Gareth, the tyre place's policy is that if only 2 tyres are to be changed on a 4WD vehicle they must be the rears and then only provided the fronts have 4mm left. They did say it would be a good idea to get a 4 wheel alignment check done. I'm yet to try and find a garage that can do that. Brgds, John
  4. Hi. After about 18500 miles from new, I've just changed the rear tyres on my 2021 A3 Quattro (decided it was a good idea pre-winter as the lowest one was 2.8mm. Fronts still had over 4.5mm so didn't change them), and a note came back saying both fronts had inner shoulder wear. I was told that it might be to do with the 40TFSi engine being heavy on the front axle and causing too much towing in. Anyone experienced this and have an alternative explanation? Thanks!
  5. I haven't noticed not having hill hold assist. Pretty redundant in an automatic car I would say.
  6. My car has a hydraulic parking brake, operated by a button, so don't think that would work for me. However....the garage suggested I turn off the hill hold assist, and that did do the trick.
  7. I've noticed that when pulling to a stop, the drive is disengaged and the car doesn't creep forward. You have to press the accelerator pedal to make the car move forward again. This is fine until I try to garage my car. I have a towbar fitted to the car most of the time and a motorbike in front of the car so there's limited space and the car needs to be parked accurately so the back of the car is close to the garage door and so I can still walk around it at the front. Turning off the thing that stops the engine when you come to a stop helps (in fact its impossible to park the car without it turned off). Great care is needed because pressing the accelerator even just very gently makes the car move forward enough to make me then have to brake firmly to stop me driving into the motorbike. So, can the creep function you get with most automatics be reinstated, or can anyone suggest any other ideas to help. I've already looked at a parking aid bump stop for the floor but I'm not convinced it would help much. Many thanks
  8. Hi Gareth, yes, sorry, the price of the new car was guaranteed too. Rgds John
  9. Hi Gareth, and thanks for your message. The value of my PX was guaranteed at the time and the garage have now increased it so that's reasons to be cheerful!
  10. Hi, thanks for the info. There was no mention of any delay when i ordered and no updates since.
  11. Apologies if this is old news but I couldn't find anything on the forums about it. I ordered my new Audi mid May and delivery was meant to be September. Since then I've received no updates from the garage nor Audi (apparently all affected customers were meant to have received an update from Audi direct), so I enquired. Its not definite (yet), but it looks like the build of my car may not have even started yet. So, if the build was to start now, and extrapolating the 4 months forward I guess I might not get the car until late January? Audi are vague and unable to say why, and have apparently shut down their information system the garage would normally access, so I don't know if its Brexit, Covid or the fire at the micro-processor plant, or what. My garage says Audi have stopped building any cars that haven't been sold and an update is promised in 2-3 weeks. Anyone got anything to add? This found on their website: "Update on delivery times Like many other manufacturers and other sectors of industry, we are experiencing some supply chain issues and a few of our components are in short supply, in particular those relating to semi-conductors, which have reduced our production capacity. This means delivery times for some of our model lines are a little longer than we would normally expect. Please be assured we are working hard to deliver your chosen vehicle as quickly as possible and your local Audi Centre will keep you up to date with what’s happening. We also have cars readily available now from stock – just give your local Audi Centre a call and we can help you identify a perfect match."
  12. Folks, I've had issues with my A3 1.5TFSI manual ever since day 1 (it'll be 3 years old in Nov 21). Basically two things, 1) its very difficult to pull away smoothly. I've been driving for 40 years and can't remember having a car that's so bad for kangaroo petrol. Particularly difficult to pull away slowly, like when in traffic. And 2) at around 2000 revs there's a distinct hesitation, feels almost like a mis-fire or stutter. I suspect this is the transition from 2 to 4 cylinders. Car has been back to Audi, couldn't find anything wrong, updated some software and sent me on my way. Only reason for posting now is that I'm thinking about another car later this year but certainly don't want another one of these if this is the normal way they drive. Oh, other than the issues, its great on the motorway, but then aren't most cars? Would appreciate any feedback, cheers
