Hello and welcome to Audi Owners Club. Is there any chance you could post some photo's and location of where the buyer would have to pick up from? We hope you enjoy your stay here :)

Hi, im not really sure how that would work but do know that if you have a space saver, you can replace with tyre foam and it will pass the M.O.T. I would have thought it would have to be the same size space saver as the wheels that are on the car. Iv noticed that Audi choose to do alot of things different to other car manufacturers.

I learnt a very valuable lesson today regarding the number plate lights that are built in to the boot handle. If you don't remove the screws once in a while they seem to bond themself to the boot handle strip! Iv had to drill the heads off the screws to remove the bulb holders which fell to pieces once id got them off. Im now trying to get hold of the strip including both lights without having to goto the main dealer. There's one on eBay for £50+ but looks like it's having the same problem as mine had, trust Audi to use Aluminum :( Does anyone know where i can get the boot handle strip and the 2 light holders from? cheapish. Need one desperately as i now have no number plate lights and there is a canbus error telling me so lol. Thanks in advance :)

PMSL! my A4 is 2.0 so i know the feeling. I have to take out a bank loan just to drive 5 miles ;o) At least with a petrol it's more responsive, better acceleration and cheaper to fix/service. Everything is pricey at the moment, think it's a case of 'grin and bear it' until the current climate sorts itself out :)

Im not sure how strict Steve might be with adding other forum web links so im sorry if it's against the rules and please delete as appropriate but i find the following sites useful with Audi mods. Although this site is a dedicated Audi A4 site, i have noticed that the Audi A3 has alot of similar parts so it may come in useful. No registration is required to view the posts which makes things alot better to source information quickly - http://www.a4mods.com/webcontent/forum/ This is the forum thread where i got the idea for the I-Tray, it's pretty in depth and contains some useful information - http://www.audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41040&highlight=ipod+dock+ashtray Again, aimed at the Audi A4 but can be used for some parts of the Audi A3 - http://www.wheelsjamaicahost.com/wheels_forum/index.php?topic=119783.0 Everything you will need to know about replacing standard bulbs with L.E.D bulbs - http://www.wheelsjamaicahost.com/wheels_forum/index.php?topic=119783.0 This is a forum thread for an airbox mod, it costs nothing to do and has the same effect as an aftermarket airfilter (ram air, forced air, cool air, etc) - http://www.audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60004 I will add some links for companies that sell official Audi mod parts soon :) If you don't feel confident enough to try a little D.I.Y on your Audi, these links are more than useless to you :P

He he, there's nothing wrong with just having a sprayed grille. That's alot more than my car had a couple of weeks ago :) There's alot i want to do, it's having the money and being a full time college student my funds are quite tight. I will sort them sites out in the next couple of hours, i would have done them sooner but had to do a full electrical re-wire on my dads shed so my time had been taken

Hi Lauren and welcome to AudiOwnersClub forums. Unfotunately im also pretty new to the modding scene and not really purchased any mods for my car yet but have done some D.I.Y mods. I will dig out a couple of useful sites that might come in handy for you. We hope you enjoy your stay here and look forward to reading your posts

I have uploaded a couple of photo's to the gallery but have added the finished project to this post. All comments are welcome :)

After seing someone's idea of converting the front ash tray into an Iphone/Ipod tray i thought id give it a bash. Seems to be coming along nicely but alot more fiddley than i expected. Iv managed to get the cable in place and im ready for bonding it to the ash tray. I then need to find some suitable filler to make the tray a flush fit before i sand/smooth it all down and spray it black. I will grab a couple of photo's long the way to give you a better idea of what mess im making ;)

I did an oil and filter change on my car today. After removing the skid plate i came across a nut with a star shape on it! Being a little confused and not knowing much about Audis i decided to do abit of research as that didn't seem right. Luckily i didn't remove the star nut as that's for the transmission fluid, i managed to find a rubbish image on google which shown me the location of the drain plug so i took a photo a better photo while i were doing my car. Hope this helps other members out who decide to do an oil change without taking it to a garage and paying silly prices.

All of the above problems are now sorted. The ECP light, loss of power and juddering were down to wrong octane fuel. I now pay closer attention when filling up and have remembered which garages are best. I bought a new MAF Sensor on Monday, since then my car seems alot smoother to drive, more response and the temperature gauge is working as normal *Touchwood*. Iv not really noticed if the radiator fan starts spinning as soon as i turn on the ignition but i will check that tomorrow. The noise i could hear from the dash are actually motors for the heaters which are adjusting. Obviously nothing for me to worry about. I also noticed when i was fitting the new headunit that there were some ISO adapters unplugged but i never knew what they were for. I managed to trace the wires to a Nokia box which i have now realised it was for a hands free kit that wasn't remover properly before i bought the car. I mentioned the centre blowers now working. I pinpointed this to 1 of the 10 motors. It has become faulty and in-operational, iv yet to find a spare motor to replace it with but have managed to open the flap for the time being so that they work. I can control the rest with the vent flaps so it's no biggy. I hope if anyone else has any of these problems. I have managed to find a fix for them

Aftermarket headunit, sub and amp in an Audi A4 (B6)
Arcaned replied to Arcaned's topic in Audi A4 (B6) Forum
Iv finally managed to finish the installation. I had no problems running the Aux and Remote cable to the boot but i did have problems finding a suitable ground point for the amplifier. Iv made a temporary one for now which is attached to the chassis with a bolt but i don't like the idea of the cable travelling such a distance so i will make a more suitable ground point closer to the amplifier tomorrow. On the headunit i only have 1 set of pre-outs (phonos) so had to dash off and buy a 'male -> 2 female splitter' as the ISO PC9-404 also uses the phono connection. I think my next step is to un-hook the built in amplifier and subwoofer but that means i will also have to rewire the back speakers straight to the headunit as they are powered by the built in amplifier at the moment. Other than that, it sounds brilliant, i now have music on an 8GB USB pen and the overall installation don't look too bad (Excluding the headunit lights up blue and everything else is red) but that's no biggy. All wiring is hidden nicely down the door trims and i managed to fit a switch in the glovebox which allows me to switch the power off to the amplifier. Parts Used ---------------- * Audi A4 02-05 Fascia Adaptor * Autoleads PC9-404 Smartlead * 2 x Male to 2 Female Adaptors * 10 AWG Wiring Kit * 12" 1100 Watt JBL Subwoofer * 12" Single Subwoofer Box * 600 Watt Amplifier * 1 Farad Powercap * Sony Headunit Latest Video - -
Yeah i think the cap seems to be the problem with photos. I took the photos with an Iphone which only takes photos with 1 setting (very large) lol. The only way i know off the top of my head for resizing photos is by using paint, but pretty much everyone has the program installed in windows and it's a very simple process. I will quickly write a how-to for the members who don't know. 1/ Open Paint. 2/ Load the photo you want to resize (different methods for doing this which depends on the operating system). - You can right click the photo you wish to resize and then open with -> paint for a quick way. 3/ If using Windows 7, there is a tab at the top of paint which says [Home View]. Make sure you click Home. 4/ Click Resize (a window will appear) 5/ Keep Percentage checked and change the Horizontal and Vertical values. I put 50 and 50 which will basically resizes the images by 50% 6/ Click Ok 7/ Click the purple disk icon at the top to save the image and your finished. On windows Vista and older Operating Systems you can click the tabs at the top (can't remember which tab it is exactly but I think it 's Edit, we can edit this post once we find out for definate). You then need to look for something along the lines of Resize/Skew and follow steps 5 -> 7

Steve, now that you have mentioned it iv just checked the photos that won't upload and there around 3MB so im guessing the limit is capped? The photos that uploaded ok are under 2MB which could explain why. I will shrink them down in size and try again

I received the ISO wiring harness yesterday (Autoleads PC9-404) and although this did the job the wiring loom didnt match up with my Sony headunit. I did some research to find that there isn't a switched live on the B6 as it's all ran through CAN-BUS. I managed to find a site through Google which explained how to run your own switched live from the fuse box. My car didn't have the telephone installed so fuse 5 was free to use. I crimped a new wire onto this and ran it straight to the headunit... Voila! that's one problem out of the way. Today i decided to start installing my aftermarket sub and amp. Im pretty good with this sort of installation so didn't do any research and so far so good. Iv managed to run the power cable to the boot and it's well hidden all round which im quite impressed with. Iv now got to run the remote wire and Aux cables to the boot which i will be running down the opposite side so there is no interference from the power cable. I will keep you all informed with the installation and unfortunately iv forgot to take any photos of the progress. If anyone needs any help with wiring, routes to use etc i will do my best to help out.

For some strange reason some photo's won't upload. There the same size photos and format as the ones that it would let me upload so can't see why it's being random and rejecting some photos. Any chance you could look into this for us Steve?

I just wanted to start a thread for places around the UK that sell modded Audi Parts as i can't seem to find many places and the one's i have found don't sell much. The list can contain sellers that sell universal parts but must they must fit Audi's. Iv been looking for a new 4" backbox, some interior panels which i would like to replace, some new *brighter* headlight bulbs which are E marked (road legal), wiper blades, induction kit, etc. There's so many different parts but i'm having to do alot of research to make sure they will fit my car without throwing a CAN-BUS error like alot of the bulbs will. I also heard that an induction kit would throw an error and i'm not sure about a new backbox. So known sources and parts would be a great help to myself and other members.

Iv been looking for a forced induction kit for an Audi A4 2.0 FSi and nobody seems to make one. I can get a replacement panel filter but it doesn't make the same sound or have the same looks. I was also told if i change the factory filter to something different then i would need to get the ECU re-mapped which is around £250-£300 so don't really want to go down that route just yet. I know there are alot more parts/mods on the Audi A3's so you shouldn't really have a problem sorting you car out. Welcome to AudiOwnersClub.com

Decided to paint the FSI badge red on the engine panel today due to boredom. I think it's made quite abit of difference for such a subtle mod. *Very Large Images* BEFORE AFTER

Hi Jasper. Im not sure if this is the same problem as i was getting with my Audi A4 2002 but it sounds similar. Is it just the interior light's that pulsate? A photo would be ideal so i know if the A6 has the same light cluster/unit that the A4 has. My problem was down to the light console in the front roof lining. The lights not really pulsate but more flashed a few times to the point where it ended up blowing a fuse. I removed the unit and there's a plastic insert that holds the blubs in place that the wiring connects too. This plastic insert had come loose which i think was causing a bad earth. I refitted it all correctly, replaced the fuse and now the lights work as they should. Worth a shot and keep us all updated if you find a fix for this problem.

I think i found the problem of the juddering, loss of power and ECP light showing. I filled up with crappy Unleaded Octane 91 or 95 (cant remember which) but i know it was some nasty stuff. Iv recently re-fuelled but using Super Unleaded and the car only lost power once after about 2 hours of driving which could be due to the fact there's still some of the crappy fuel in the tank. I think the cure for the intermittent temp gauge is down to a sensor, unsure wether it's the Water Coolant Sensor or the MAP Sensor as iv noticed when the car gets quite warm, the gauge goes from 60 - 0 degrees and iv also noticed the radiator fan doesn't seem to work? Im not great with mechanics so at a shot in the dark i guess it's either the sensor or thermostat? Can anyone shed some light for me as i don't want to waste money on parts that aren't needed.

Since yesterday iv had a major problem and it's really starting to annoy me now. The symptoms are as follows. EPC light flashes on for a few seconds and the car looses all power. Iv done alot of research on google to try and locate the problem to no avail. There are so many people saying one thing and then other people saying another thing to the point i would end up replacing all sensors, fuel system and whatever else. May aswell just do a full rebuild if that was the case but im sure it's something alot more simple. If anyone has had this problem as iv read it happens to numerous Audis and not just the A4, i would be very greatful for a fix. Iv noticed a few little niggly faults aswell ie:- the temperature guage works when it wants to and not all the time. The centre blower vents wernt working (i managed to remove the vents from the dash to find one of the wire's was not connected to which i reconnected and it seems to work fine now). Just out of curiosity, iv noticed when im in the car and the ignition is on but the car isn't running, i hear a sound coming from the dash like a mulit-changer changing discs. I have no multi-changer in the car and the radio isn't switched on when its making the noise. Any ideas as to what or where the noise comes from? Im a great Audi fan but have noticed a few problems and only had the car approximately 2 weeks :(

Hi Steve, i will see what i can do to try and improve things. Would be a good start to find out how many active members there are of these forums. If all member who view these forums can drop a quick post so we can see who are active and who are not we can get the ball rolling :)
