  1. No I don’t mean the previous garage! The one who’ve recently carried out the work. I shouldn’t have used the word negligent because they’re really decent but I’m going to ask about the cost of the recent work being deducted off the bill I get next!
  2. Hiyaaaaaa me again! It’s uncanny isn’t it. Leaving work after a 12 hour night shift and the same issue again! The stupidly infuriating issue this time though is that I could sense the issue developing (engine running rough at idle) so took the car in to a (different, I’ve moved house since last time) garage and told them the issue and they came back and told me they couldn’t find fault with the injectors and have instead stuck 2 bottle of fuel cleaning solution in and told me to crack on. It seemed like it had cleared for about an hour then the same issue again. Whats my chances of getting them to admit they’ve been somewhat negligent and doing the work at a reduced rate? If it wasn’t for bad luck I’d have none😅
  3. Thanks for that Steve. The work on the injector has already been done I’m afraid and the bearing is being changed tomorrow I believe with the intention of me getting the car back Thursday or Friday. But the thought did occur to me earlier about getting back in touch with the AA and asking them to send me what their recovery driver initially diagnosed and then presenting that to the garage when I go to collect my car. I’ll keep you posted on the outcome of any disagreement. Including length of jail time I receive for handing out some lefts and rights haha.
  4. Appreciate that reply Steve. I didn’t want to read or hear it but I appreciate it nonetheless. Obviously, as we’re all aware, by the time I’m at the garage on a tow truck with a car which won’t run whatsoever I’m essentially a hostage until I pay whatever the garage is telling me! What can I do? Get it towed to a different garage for a 2nd opinion? That’s another £200 notes on top surely!?? Thanks for the advice regarding the rail sensors as well and that’s what I’ll look into. The juxtaposition of it is though that I’ve taken cars in to this same garage previously (lived in this town for about 3 years now) and never felt like they were lifting my leg.
  5. Hi lads. Just to bump this topic as it’s the same subject I have a couple of questions about. Car packed in on me just as I was leaving work after a 12 hour night shift last week. AA guy plugged into my ECU and told me it was the fuel rail sensor. Towed me back to the garage and I walked home. Garage rang me later that day and told me it wasn’t in fact the fuel rail sensor but was actually the injector. Final bill would be £580. They’ve also rang me again this morning to say the near side wheel bearing is gonna need doing as well. Another £220. My questions are. 1) How could the AA guy plug me into an ECU to give me a diagnosis in black and white yet the garage tell me something-whilst I assume it’s related-it’s not what was originally diagnosed? 2) does the work sound reasonably priced? 3) I appreciate this is an almost impossible question but what do you think the likelihood of the other injectors going in the not too distant future is? 4) Is changing the others something I could have a go at doing myself? I’m an electrician so I’ve got my own tools but do I need anything specific or access to a ramp/lift? Hope you’re all well and thanks in advance for your thoughts. Gareth.
