  1. 2 lights on at the same time shouldn't happen. Can you still select and navigate to the settings menu using the steering wheel controls? If so, you can try a factory reset from there. Otherwise, it could be that the switch is knackered or there is something stuck under it. You could try removing it - Google "remove audi mmi joystick" for a few videos and other discussions.
  2. Thanks for the info. Sounds like a decent price 👍 Based on is a your previous experience, maybe you should have a locksmith on speed dial! 😁 😁
  3. I think wireless carplay was introduced on 2020 models. There are some aftermarket options around. Either way it is independent of audi connect but I think you need the audi smartphone interface for carplay /android auto to work.
  4. Glad you hot sorted Rhys and with no damage to the car 👍 The myaudi app is worth checking since it also alerts you when your alarm is going off and you can track your car too. If you already have it set up then it must be a subscription that stopped the functions from working. As I mentioned before, the last section on the app screen - individual upgrades/functions on demand gets you to the shop where you can purchase a remote services subscription. I suspect that you will need a connect licence/subscription too. BTW - how much was the locksmith?
  5. A 2018 of model is unlikely to support wireless carplay (or android auto) If you sign to myaudi /audi connect then you get access to the Internet other features. If you want more than that then you need to register as the key user and that requires the dealer getting you 10 digit code. CarPlay will work independently of this.
  6. The myaudi app will only work if you have it set up (to set it up you need to abtivate it on the car) and also the "connect" function needs an active subscription. A locksmith may be your cheapest option.
  7. Looks like a result 👍 Replacing the head unit would have cost you (a lot) more!
  8. Looks like a good idea 👍
  9. Have a look here - I suspect you have a similar head unit https://www.audiownersclub.com/forums/topic/17908-upgrading-my-mmi/?do=findComment&comment=64573 Your best bet is through the ami interface
  10. You need to differentiate between update and upgrade. You can update maps and firmware - lots of Russian guys have done the hacks. Your unit is probably mmi 3g basic. To update you can use the link above or Google mmi 3g basic map update. There is info on DIY here https://www.a5oc.com/threads/mmi-3g-basic-navigation-5-31-2-and-firmware-updates-currently-2020-2021.113473/ Most of these options are pretty solid - I have used similar on a VW RNS 850 to get the latest firmware and maps. The only other issue is if your maps are on DVD (most likely), SD card (less flexible) or hdd. If you are a bit reticent then Chris_coz's link is the easiest option. To upgrade you can probably get Bluetooth streaming either using an ami connector https://audistream2air.com/products/bluetooth-a2dp-adapter-for-audi-skoda-and-vw-3gen Or a full on connection https://upgrademyaudi.net/product/bluetooth-and-aux-module-for-audi-with-mmi-3g-navigation/ Good luck!
  11. I thought that Google Earth was no longer supported but all the other ones still work under either audi connect or with a 3rd party sim?
  12. Good to get to the bottom of it and you clearly did the right thing in challenging them 👍 The service history on newer vehicles is now captured electronically - I wouldn't be surprised if there is a paid service available to check service history. There is already one for tax and mot and you can check vehicle insurance on line.
  13. If it's a 2018 car then as Gareth says it should of had at least 1 service of some sort irrespective of the mileage. Is it an audi dealer or an independent? Sounds like you should be careful.
